1990 Sweden ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, with 54 rights. The Convention on the Rights of the Child does not apply as law in Sweden. However, all countries that have ratified the convention, has an obligation to implement the convention in all decision making and practical management that includes children. The purpose of the study is to examine the implementation of the convention in relation to unaccompanied refugee children on a state, municipal and non-profit level by using three actors. The actors are the Swedish immigration service, Stockholm social service and the NGO Save the Children.

Abstract The meaning of this essay is to bring you a picture of a growing unnoticed society problem. The statistics talk for itself. The low number of men who report domestic violence, where they are the victims, shows that the society doesn?t have a good way of meeting this type of problem which is based both on structural and individual problems. The lack of science and the legislation are insufficient and discriminating because they are built on a picture where women are the victims and men are the perpetrators.

The object of this essay is the Swedish author Agnes von Krusenstjerna's novels Ninas dagbok (The diary of Nina) and Helenas första kärlek (Helena's first love) as well as the cycle novel Fröknarna von Pahlen (The misses von Pahlen). The purpose is to explore her use of the discourse of girls' fiction, which I analyse by the depiciton of women's sexual awakening, and her depiction of sadomasochism. The theories of Elaine Showalter, Jacques Derrida, Michel Foucault and Judith Butler are used.Women's sexual awakening is depicted similarly in the novels but more explicitly in Fröknarna von Pahlen. In Ninas dagbok and Helenas första kärlek there is an eroticization of dominance and submission, which is not explicitly sadomasochistic. In Fröknarna von Pahlen, sadomasochism is explicitly described as a "perverted" sexuality and reveals the inequality in the violent sexuality, which is described as "normal".

With increasing traffic congestion problems in bigger cities, it is becoming more and more important to provide the traveller with correct information about all transport alternatives. When doing that, the traveller gets the opportunity to make the best decision based on the current traffic situation. Instead of traditional travel planners, where public and private transport modes are presented separately, the co-modal travel planner offers a combination. In order to make the comparison correct and fair, the travel times have to be estimated realistically and on equal basis. This master thesis focuses on how to estimate travel times in the City of Stockholm for journeys by cars, public transport, bicycles and also for walking.An investigation of the available data on maps and travel times shows where the currently used methods are lacking.

Denna studie gjordes för att belysa den problematik som kan uppstå inom föreningslivet i städer med en mångfasetterad befolkning . Malmö har under de senaste årtiondena utvecklats till vad som kallas en dual-City där klyfterna mellan de rika och de fattiga i staden blivit allt större. Frågeställningarna jag syftat till att besvara i denna uppsats är: Hur är fördelningen av samhällsklasser i Malmös olika stadsdelar? Finns det skillnader i hur stort idrottsutövandet är mellan samhällsklasserna? Finns det skillnader i idrottsutbudet mellan de olika stadsdelarna i Malmö? Dessa frågor har besvarats via ett sociologiskt perspektiv där teorier från Bourdieu har varit dominerande. Resultaten visar att på grund av de stora klyftorna mellan rika och fattiga i Malmös stadsdelar har Malmö idag ett uppdelat föreningsliv.

Projektet har genomförts i samarbete med Lokalförvaltningen, Göteborgs Stad.Eftersom behovet av lokaler i en stad förändras över tid efterfrågas en byggnad som kan användas till flera olika ändamål under dess bruksperiod. Ombyggnation av befintliga byggnader kan bli kostsamma och tidskrävande eftersom bärande komponenter eller fasta installationer ofta måste flyttas eller bytas ut. En flexibel byggnad som redan vid uppförandet förbereds för ombyggnation kan enkelt anpassas och användas till flera olika verksamheter. Att bygga mer effektivt och flexibelt minskar kostnader och bidrar till ett mer hållbart byggande. Syftet med arbetet var att ta fram en byggnad som genom enklare omställningsarbeten i byggnadens invändiga utseende kan fungera för tre olika verksamheter.

Debatten om matfett är ständigt aktuell och i stort sett dagligen så matas vi med olika aktörersåsikter om vilket fett som är att föredra. Ska vi äta omättat eller mättat fett? Vilket matfett ärdet mest hälsosamma? Fokus i denna studie har varit att synliggöra den professionellapedagogens förhållningssätt till matfett och vilka olika strategier som lärare i hem- ochkonsumentkunskap har använt sig av i sin undervisning relaterat till matfett. Studiens syftevar att synliggöra och analysera hem- och konsumentkunskapslärares skilda förhållningssättrelaterat till matfett i undervisningen med utgångspunkt i perspektiven hälsa, ekonomi ochmiljö. Studien bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer samt observationer med lärare i hem- ochkonsumentkunskap på högstadiet.

Digital preservation is a relatively new subject to Swedish archives. Alhough computers have been used for a long time, preservation has been made on paper and stored on shelves. These days a lot of cities in Sweden have investigated how to best secure the digital information for the future through electronic archiving, e-archives. One option is to hand in the information as soon as possible, but to let the producer keep the information ownership yet some time. The idea is to let the producers of the information answer questions and hand out material, since they are more competent on their field.

Environmental issues and ecology is something that is discussed by the Climate board of the UN and by our Swedish politicians. The first part of the thesis deals with the effects of emissions of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. There is a discussion about what counts as greenhouse gas. Interviews have been made with two growers of annual plants and one interview with a person who has worked hard to increase the use of perennials in his work place, Mjösund?s cemetery.

Urban trees contribute significantly to our society. By providing ecosystem services and a habitat that other urban species and ecosystems depend on, both biodiversity and the people in the City benefit. Some characteristics that the trees possess include functioning as biological filters for the atmosphere and water, as well as positively impacting people's mental health. However, urban trees are challenged by stressors such as pollution and a drier environment, making them particularly sensitive to climate change. The goal of this study was to estimate the expected magnitude of climate change in Gothenburg and compare it with the current urban species' natural climate boundaries to understand the extent of the climate threat and which species appear to be most at risk.

Cykelstölder är ett stort problem i dagens samhälle. I Sverige polisanmäldes 65 700 cykelstölder under 2011. De cykellås som finns på marknaden kan på ett eller annat sätt brytas upp och efter det är cykeln fullt brukbar. Examensarbetets uppdragsgivare hade idéer om ett nytt cykellås som förhindrade cykelns brukbarhet efter uppbrytning av låset. Idén ledde till ett samarbete med uppdragsgivaren, mig och teknikkonsultföretaget, Cross Design.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the quality notions used by the library personnel responsible for the video game department at Malmo City Library. Furthermore, the thesis aims to assess how these notions of quality relate to properties of the actual collection of video games. The empirical results are based on interviews with the responsible library personnel. The result is then analyzed by an interpretation of Carl Gustav Johannsen?s library adapted, theory-based, model of quality definitions.

Den övergripande frågeställningen för uppsatsen är: Vad innebär det ur ett demokratiperspektiv när en abonnerad morgontidning väljer att ge ut en gratistidning för att nå lågresursgrupperna i samhället??. Bakgrunden till frågan är att Helsingborgs dagblad valt att ge ut gratistidningen Xtra Helsingborg för att nå ut i de områden där tidningen har få läsare. Gemensamt för dessa stadsdelar är att de tillhör de fattigaste i Helsingborg och att en större andel av invånarna har utländsk bakgrund än i övriga Helsingborg.Genom att göra en innehållsanalys av Helsingborgs Dagblad och gratistidningen Xtra har jag undersökt vilka innehållsmässiga skillnader det finns mellan tidningarna. Jag har också intervjuat Helsingborgs Dagblads VD Lars Svensson, Xtras chefredaktör Kersti Forsberg och nyhetschefen på HD City Anders Håkansson för att ta reda på vilka tankar man har om skillnader i målgrupp och konkurrensen mellan tidningarna.Innehållsmässigt har Xtra ett större fokus på Nöje, Sport och Opinionsmaterial än HD och bristen på lokal samhällsinformation i Xtra kan skapa stora kunskapsklyftor mellan dem som läser HD och dem som läser Xtra.

Background: Last year (2006) has been a year when the environmental issues figured more often in the media, and the environmental awareness among common people increased. Environmental climate reports have lately been on the headline all over the world. As a result of the increasing population in the world, it?s becoming more important to be aware of the environment. To do that, it is important to maximize the efficiency in the work with the environment.

Youth crime is a subject widely discussed in media as well as in the academic field of criminology. One of the topics within the research field of youth crime discusses how to effectively help young people leave a criminal lifestyle behind. It is within this topic that the focus of this essay lies. This qualitative study examines a community based program in the Swedish City of Malmö called Nya Vägvalet (The New Choice of Path, own translation), which works with juvenile delinquents and the issues that surround the youths lifestyle. The aim of the essay is to explore the foundations and methodology of the program, how the methods of the program are put into practice and how these methods compare to what current research findings claim to be effective factors in successful interventions.
