Aim: The aim of this study was to determine whether or not there is evidence for the usage of ginger as an antiemetic in patients experiencing chemotherapy related nausea, based on available scientific literature.Methods: The original articles were found by using search engines PubMed and CINAHL. The selected articles were then analyzed based on their content, quality and results. Based on the results from the content analysis the articles were placed in four different themes.Results: In the first theme two of the articles found that ginger had significant effect on chemotherapy related nausea, when used in combination with regular antiemetic treatment. Two other articles said that it does not. In the second theme four studies found that different forms of ginger lessens nausea, in contrast two other articles found that it does not have any increased effect on said nausea.

Success in treatment with platinum-based chemotherapy against different types of cancer tumors is limited by side-effects such as hearing loss which can have a large impact on the individual`s quality of life. It is of great importance to continue with studies that address this complex of problems.Objective: The aim of this literature review is to investigate the impact of platinum-based chemotherapy on hearing in children and adolescents treated for different types of cancer.Method: A descriptive review of literature was made based on sources from 15 different studies on the impact of platinum-based chemotherapy on hearing in the target group.Results: The survey of the studies shows that platinum-based chemotherapy causes incidence of hearing loss by differing degree in the target group. Dosage of a platinum-based substance appeared to be the most significant factor. Treatment with both Cisplatin and carboplatin was more ototoxic than treatment with only one of these. Greater risk for hearing loss was to a higher degree observed in younger children.

SAMMANFATTNINGIntroduktion: Att föda barn är en stor upplevelse som man bär med sig hela livet, oavsett om minnet är positivt eller negativt. Målet för oss som arbetar inom förlossningsvården är att alla blivande föräldrar ska ha en positiv förlossningsupplevelse.  Dagens förlossningsvård ställer stora krav på barnmorskan, vilken ska arbeta säkert, utveckla kompetens och ha ett stödjande samt individanpassat bemötande.Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva hur barnmorskor ser på stöd vid förlossning.                                                               Metod: Fyra fokusgruppintervjuer utfördes på fyra olika norrländska sjukhus där barnmorskans syn på stöd vid förlossning berördes. Datamaterialet analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys.                                                                                                                     Resultat: Resultatet redovisas utifrån barnmorskornas beskrivning av vad stöd innebär vid förlossning. Texten indelades i två domäner: Möjligheter till stöd samt begränsningar till stöd. I dessa domäner framkom teman såsom: Bemötandets betydelse, beröringens betydelse, närvarons betydelse, betydelsen av att känna trygghet, kommunikationens betydelse, betydelse av respekt och ansvar, tillitens betydelse, känna otillräcklighet, känna sig vilsen samt sakna tilltro till det normala.Diskussion & slutsats: Barnmorskorna hade flera vägar till stöd, ett individuellt bemötande, de vågade vara fysiskt nära kvinnan och ansåg att de hade en intuition av att känna när de skulle vara närvarande.
