Från periferi till piedestal

AbstractThis paper is a study in press reception with the intent to examine how twelve female actionheroes have been portrayed in Swedish media between 1974 ? 2006. The purpose is to discern patterns and differences in how the female movie Character is received by their contemporary journalists and to relate their views to social and gender related theories. The female actionhero is an independent and brutal Character, often alone and without a mother or a child. This separates her from typical female roles, which historically been Characterized by passivity, fear and dependency on the male Characters in the movie. The female actionhero as a Character opens up for complex reception. One perspective in the research identifies the independent woman as a feministic icon.

Vad betyder min novell? : Författaren tolkar sin okända text

All my short stories have been written in an intuitive way according to which no outline of Characters, intrigue or plot was made in advance. A consequence of this process is that not even myself as the author is aware of the meaning of the texts and therefore I too have to interpret the stories. Because of the Character of the text, I use an analysis of archetypes according to C. G. Jung?s analytic psychology.

Den flerspråkiga bibliotekskatalogen: Hantering av icke-latinsk skrift på bibliotek

The main purpose of this thesis has been to investigate librarians opinions about the need for and possibility to use non-roman script in library catalogues. We have also investigated the routines of handling materials in non-roman scripts in two Swedish libraries. The investigation was made in the light of the recent shift in Character set in the Swedish National Library Catalogue Libris. This change will enable use of multiple writing systems in the future. Our findings are that a multicultural society requires special consideration to the needs of citizens who speak other languages than the majority of the population. This becomes difficult when the languages spoken have a different writing system than the one used by the majority.

Att genom fiktion skildra en verklighet : En kvalitativ studie i hur maktstruktrurer beskrivs i BBC:s tv-serie The Hour

The objective of this study was to investigate how power relationships between journalists and politicians were shown in the fictional BBC tv-series ?The Hour?. We wanted to investigate how these power structures is narrated by the producers of the series and what impact the narration could have to the audiance of the 21th century. We choose to analyse a total of 12 scenes from all of the six episodes, which are all set in Britain during the beginning of the Suez Canal crisis in the 1950?s, all seen from a BBC editorial point of view.In our analysis we chose to use two different kind of methods, the first one was a situation analysis and the second one a text analysis. The situation method was useful to get a perception of the relations between the participants .The text analysis we used to analyse what was said in the tv-series and to interpret underlying motives. The fictional form necessitated a personalization of power structures, in the sense that each and every power was represented by a single Character; political power was for instance represented by the Character of Angus McCain.

Mr Chester Jester

My bachelor project is a work of pattern design and production of woven upholstery fabrics, digital prints on textile materials and wallpaper, made for a fictional home environment.
