Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka vilken roll skönlitteraturen kan tänkas inta, och vilken roll den faktiskt intar, i skolundervisningen på mångkulturella storstadsskolor. Studien lägger fokus på barn som har ett annat förstaspråk än svenska. Undersökningsmetoderna är av kvalitativ art, intervjuer och observationer. Undersökningen ägde rum på tre olika mångkulturella storstadsskolor där majoriteten av eleverna är flerspråkiga. Undersökningsgruppen består av olika lärare på dessa skolor.

 This essay has been investigate a Hindu swaminarayantempel in central Sweden, its activities and function from a diaspora perspective. Also to investigate the relationship between Hindu diaspora groups and in relation to South Asia. An ethnographic method was used.The result of this study shows that the key activities temple provides the puja. Pujan is the most frequent activity in the investigated Temple. The temple also provides other activities that often are linked to anniversaries and celebrations of festive calendar, such as Diwali or gods' birthdays.The investigated temple has a similar function as other diaspora groups.

The aim of this thesis is to describe passage retrieval (PR), with basis in results from various empirical experiments, and to critically investigate different approaches in PR. The main questions to be answered in the thesis are: (1) What characterizes PR? (2) What approaches have been proposed? (3) How well do the approaches work in experimental information retrieval (IR)? PR is a research topic in information retrieval, which instead of retrieving the fulltext of documents, that can lead to information overload for the user, tries to retrieve the most relevant passages in the documents. This technique was investigated studying a number of central articles in the research field. PR can be divided into three different types of approaches based on the segmentation of the documents.

Från att ha haft en central roll i den tidiga psykoanalysen, har sexualiteten kommit att ges mindre utrymme i psykodynamisk psykoterapi. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka patienters erfarenheter av hur sex och sexualitet behandlas i psykodynamisk psykoterapi. Utifrån ett bekvämlighetsurval genomfördes sju semistrukturerade kvalitativa intervjuer, och materialet analyserades med fenomenologisk metod. Många av informanterna upplevde sex och sexualitet som svårt eller omöjligt att tala om i sina terapier, och flera av dem upplevde också att deras terapeuter hade svårt att hantera dessa ämnen. Endast två informanter beskriver erfarenheter av att terapeuten initierat samtal om sex och sexualitet.

Background: Pesticides in conventional food may be related to morbidity and mortality. Furthermore pesticides have a negative impact on the whole ecosystem. Organic food can presume better health as they contain less chemicals and toxins and contribute to sustainable development efforts.Objective: The aim was to examine what attitudes consumers have regarding to purchase organic fruit, vegetables and root vegetables.Methods: The association between consumers? views on conventional food and organic food was investigated using questionnaire given to a population sample of men and women aged by 23-65 (N=60) in grocery stores and in a fitness center. The study was based on a cross-sectional study in a municipality in central Sweden.Results: Consumers were interested to buy organic food.

The aim of our study was to investigate how much self-determination persons with intellectual disabilities living in group-homes have when it comes to recreational activities. We studied what the recreational activities looked like, if there was any self-determination concerning recreational activities and which factors influenced self-determination for persons with intellectual disabilities. We used qualitative interviews with persons with intellectual disabilities, next of kin and personnel at group-homes. The result has been analyzed from earlier research, central concepts as self-determination and recreational activities and the theory of empowerment. The most important results that emerged in our study were; that recreational activities for persons with intellectual disabilities varied substantially, that there is a large number of to recreational activities available and no one seemed directly displeased with their recreational activities.

The world is getting smaller. Global markets, political processes and communication technology bring people together. Even though many of these processes are dynamic and constructive, they have also resulted in a need for better and more effective ways of international conflict resolution. This thesis investigates central issues connected to the concept of humanitarian interventions in relation to current and future legislation of the European Union. The overall question is whether the rapid globalization process has resulted in a change of international law towards more liberal view where authorization of the security council is not always needed? And, if there has actually been such a liberalization, how does that affect the legal possibilities for the European Union to carry out armed operations without the consent of the global community?The conclusion of the thesis is that international law has been modified mainly in two aspects: First, the concept of sovereignty is no longer seen merely as a right of the nation, but also as a responsibility.

Hälsa är ett omfattande begrepp som främst kan tolkas ur två olika perspektiv, salutogent där fokuset ligger på att frambringa hälsa och patogent där fokuset ligger på den fysiska kroppen och sjukdom. I skolämnet har begreppet idag en central roll där begreppet i ämnet delats in i olika diskurser. Genom kvalitativa intervjuer med lärare samt en kvantitativ enkätundersökning med elever på två olika skolor har syftet att utreda vad lärare respektive elever har för förhållningssätt gentemot hälsa svarats på utifrån perspektiven och diskurserna. Arbetet berör hur dessa förhållningssätt förhåller sig till varandra samt om det föreligger någon regional skillnad mellan de olika skolorna. Studien visar på att elever och deras undervisande lärare i stor grad har en liknande syn på hälsa och att det finns regionala skillnader.

In 1998 a new regional development policy was introduced by the Swedish government. A central feature in the policy was the formation of partnerships at the regional level. The partnerships were meant to consist of local and regional stakeholders, representing a great variety of interests, who would collaborate in order to improve regional development. The new policy was promoted, besides being more efficient, as a way to broaden political participation and to break male-dominated structures.This thesis discusses whether the regional partnership actually favours ?women's interests?, in terms of how the relationship of power between women and men is constituted by the model.

In this study environmental work in the Swedish hotel chain "Scandic" is investigated. Earlier studies point out sustainability and different environmental certificate programs as essential for the housing sector to contribute to sustainable tourism. The purpose and willingness to fulfill such a mission has been investigated by interviewing central actors in the hotel chain. The result shows that there is a desire to be part of environmental certificate programs mainly for the reason to be part of the system and not for the benefit of nature. Sustainable development is understood as being environmentally friendly. Different solutions to adapt and being more environmentally friendly is discussed.

In January of 2014 a newly founded company held a press conference in central Stockholm. The purpose of the conference was to inform about Lexbase, the largest database on the Internet with legal information about the Swedish general public. The aim of this particular paper is to use news reports about Lexbase as material to identify the theses and their types presented in Swedish newspapers, and to examine the ideology constructed and presented by the theses in the said news reports. The questions asked in the paper are 1. What the distribution of different theses looks like and is there a type of thesis that more often invokes an implicit argumentation? 2.

Syftet med vår uppsats är att utreda den pedagogiska potentialen i olika typer av arkiv. Vi undersöker hur och om arkiven kan bli en pedagogisk resurs samt hur arkiven tillgängliggör sig gentemot skolan. Med hjälp av arkivens styrdokument och intervjuer analyserar vi och jämför det pedagogiska arbetet och satsningarna hos arkiven. Begreppet historiemedvetande spelar en central roll i uppsatsen och i undersökningen analyseras och redogörs för hur arkivarierna och arkivpedagogerna ser på begreppet historiemedvetande. Vidare refereras och diskuteras den aktuella debatten kring detta centrala begrepp och dess roll i gällande kursplaner och läroplan.

Begreppet tempo har en central roll i dagens manöverkrigföring. En av förutsättningarna för ett högt tempo är underrättelser som ger chefer erforderligt beslutsunderlag.De förband och chefer som nyttjar manöverteorin i sin krigföring strävar ständigt att utveckla sin förmåga till väpnad strid enligt manöverteorin. Denna utveckling har exemplifierats i de båda Irakkrigen av den amerikanska armén. Men vad innebär manöverkrigföringens utveckling för underrättelseförbanden? Vilka krav ställer egentligen manövertänkande på inhämtningsförmågan?Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka och identifiera en del av de krav som manöverkrigföring ställer på underrättelseinhämtningen.  Detta för att kunna belysa om det finns ett utvecklingsbehov inom ramen för underrättelsebataljonen.Denna uppsats är en komparativ studie.

The purpose of this essay is to discover what Formative Assessment is used for in practice and also how teachers use the Curriculum for elementary school, preschool and after-school activity 2011 (Lgr 11) in their Formative Assessment work.The questions are as follows:What considerations do teachers take into account when assessing a student?How do teachers view assessment for learning?How do the teachers consider formative assessment works in relation to Lgr 11?I have used a qualitative research method to answer my questions. I have interviewed five teachers regarding their view on and experience with assessment. Using a hermeneutic approach I have tried to retrieve a deeper meaning from my interviewees regarding formative assessment. I have approached formative assessment using the socio-cultural perspective because I believe it to be the best fit.All of the informants believe formative assessment has made it easier to assess students and also that it works very well together with Lgr 11.
