ABSTRACTBackground: People with colorectal cancer undergoing rectum amputation get a permanent colostomy, which affects the social life. It may be valuable for health care what these people experience living with colostomy in order to provide the greatest possible support. Objective: The aim of this study is to describe how people who received a colostomy experience their daily lives and the support they have received from the health services.Method: Qualitative interview study with six people, with a descriptive phenomenological approach.Results: The analysis of the interviews about how it's like to live with a colostomy resulted in three themes: 1) Living with a colostomy gives an uncertainty that affect the social life, 2) Physical and psychological impact of getting a colostomy and 3) Support for health care and relatives.Conclusion: Subjects had a positive attitude towards life, which contributed to that they could adjust to living with a colostomy and feel a meaningfulness of life. The study shows that all the interviewed people overall were satisfied with the information provided by the healthcare personnel. It was good with both oral and written information and very appreciated with repeated information. One aspect that could be improved was the information given aboute the closure of anus during surgery and the following complications.

Similar Items presents a set, a cluster of related items to a given item based on customers co-purchase.

Bakgrund: Allt fler människor drabbas av cancer. Att få en cancerdiagnos innebär att drabbas av en mycket allvarlig sjukdom. Med ett bra omhändertagande med helhetssyn på patienternas behov, god kontinuitet och adekvat information kan vården upplevas som konsekvent och sammanhängande. I många fall kommer beskedet om cancer plötsligt och det är svårt att vara förberedd. Cancervården innefattar vård från många olika specialiteter och det kan vara svårt för patienten att orientera sig under vårdförloppet.

Cancer i huvud- och halsregionen och dess behandling har setts leda till sva?righeter att sva?lja hos cirka 40 % av patienterna. Sva?ljningssva?righeterna har visats vara sva?rast vid larynx- och hypofarynxcancer. Sva?ljningssva?righeter pa?verkar livskvaliteten negativt enligt flera studier.

This thesis presents and evaluates a project, undertaken in 2001 by a librarian the writer of this thesis and a teacher. We met with a number of adults with reading and writing disabilities, and presented and discussed books and experiences of reading, with the aim to increase their joy of reading, as well as finding out more about our own ways of co-operating with each other across our professional borders. The documentation and evaluation emphasizes on the process and the results of the project, and on our own participation, by asking the following questions: How did we carry out the project? What obstacles did we meet? What went well/wrong? What did we achieve related to our goals? In order to illuminate the project from different angles, consequences of reading and writing disabilities for adults are discussed, as well as the specific nature of adult education and projects more or less related to ours. Action research is chosen as a method, because it allows the process of the project, and our own learning process, to be exposed.

Despite the development of new communication mediums and channels, such as social mediums, the traditional communication medias still remain available.

In this diploma work we present the results from a study of how adult immigrants utilise the services provided by the public library in Biskopsgården, Gothenburg. A survey encompassing 51 library visitors of foreign origin and an interview with two librarians at the library were performed.The results from the survey show that the majority of the informants were male students inages from 26 to 45 years and that they had been living in Sweden for a maximum of five years. 73% of the informants used the library to borrow literature in Swedish, 53% to read newspapers and periodicals in their native language, 43% to borrow literature in their native language and 43% to read newspapers and periodicals in Swedish.These results were compared with two other related studies with which partial correspondencewas found. In addition, related topics such as multicultural librarianship and the psychological aspects of immigration are discussed..

My essay is concerned with intercultural leadership and practical knowledge. The essay is about ethical dilemmas and the diversity of issues we face constantly at the preschool. In my story I examine the different views of knowledge and the opportunities to lead people in an intercultural way, and how they relate to each other. I start by looking at the ethical ideas that form the basis for our actions and our view of knowledge. Then, I examine how the practical wisdom guides the ethical dilemmas that arise at the preschool.

Bakgrund: Varje år får ca 300 barn och ungdomar i Sverige cancer. Barnets insjuknande innebär en stor omställning för hela familjen och kan leda till en psykisk belastning för föräldrarna. Vårdpersonalen har då en viktig roll, för att föräldrarna ska känna trygghet i situationen. Föräldrars behov av omvårdnad bör tillgodoses, så de i sin tur kan ge stöd åt sitt barn. Familjefokuserad omvårdnad har använts som teoretisk referensram i studien.

BakgrundHemförlossningar är fortfarande vanligt förekommande internationellt och ofta enda alternativet för många kvinnor i låginkomstländer. Nederländerna är ett av få industrialiserade länder där planerade hemförlossningar fortfarande är norm för friska, gravida kvinnor. Forskning har visat att det är lika säkert för kvinnor med lågriskgraviditeter i Nederländerna att föda hemma som att föda på sjukhus. I dag är hemförlossningar i Sverige inte ett alternativ inom det officiella hälso- och sjukvårdssystemet. Om svenska kvinnor erbjuds fritt att välja var de skulle kunna tänkas föda, skulle hemförlossningarna vara 10 gånger fler.

Syftet med den här litteraturstudien var att ta reda på och förse djursjukvården med information kring akut- och intensivvård inriktad mot omvårdnad samt smärtutvärdering på kanin, för att på så sätt försöka höja standarden på kaninsjukvården. Kaniner som bytesdjur försöker dölja smärta och sjukdom, något som gör att de kan vara kritiskt sjuka innan det upptäcks och det kan då vara svårt att bedöma hur sjuka eller smärtpåverkade de är. Samtidigt är kaniner extremt lättstressade och det är mycket viktigt att hela tiden hålla dem i en miljö och hantera dem på ett sätt som inte är stressande för dem. En första bedömning av kaniner innebär att ta reda på hur sjuka de är, parametrar att utvärdera är bland annat andning, cirkulation, temperatur och mental status. För kritiskt sjuka kaniner kan stabiliserande åtgärder vara nödvändiga innan en noggrannare undersökning kan äga rum.

Varje år diagnostiseras 10 000 män med sjukdomen prostatacancer i Sverige. Att drabbas av sjukdomen prostatacancer är emotionellt ansträngande. Väntetiden vad gäller behandling för patienter med prostatacancer är lång. Detta gör att patienter med prostatacancer lever med sjukdomen prostata-cancer och känslorna kopplade till diagnosen prostatacancer under en lång tid. Syftet med den aktuella studien var att beskriva copingprocessen för patienter med prostatacancer innan medicinsk behandling.

This essay focuses on crime history and gender. It is a study of female crimes in the beginning of the 19th century in a small parish (Askeryd Socken) in Småland in the south part of Sweden. The method I have used is to study the records of Municipal Court regarding the citizens of the parish of Askeryd. I have then tried to find out whether the female offenders have been treated different than the male offenders, if there is a certain kind of gender-related crimes and in those cases where comparison is possible, I have examined if the females are treated in a lighter way. (?female discount?), or if they were treated as mentally unstable.The essay shows that in this particular parish during the years 1825 to 1830, female offenders were not treated in a lighter manner.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva hur smärta, hos äldre personer som har diagnosen demens, kan identifieras och vilka hjälpmedel som finns att tillgå för att skatta/bedöma smärta hos dem som har diagnosen demens. Dessutom var syftet att beskriva vilka kriterier/särdrag man använder sig av vid smärtbedömningen hos de med sjukdomen demens. Artiklar söktes i följande databaser: Academic Search Elite, Cinahl, High Wire Press, Pub Med och i Science Direct. Dessa databaser valdes relaterat till att de är erkända och hade ett relativt stort utbud på relevanta artiklar inom ämnet.Designen i denna studie var beskrivande litteraturstudie där resultatet baseras på vetenskapliga artiklar. Totalt 31 artiklar var relevanta för studien och togs med i resultatet, av dessa var 24 kvalitativa, 4 kvantitativa och 3 artiklar var både kvalitativa och kvantitativa.
