In Sweden the most common type of road traffic accidents involving passenger CARS are single accidents (where only one vehicle is involved). The aim of this thesis is to analyse how these accidents occur, and present recommendations on how to reduce the number of deaths. Data has been collected from the Swedish Transport Administration?s in-depth studies of fatal accidents. Road traffic accidents with fatal outcome that happened on public roads during the years 2007 to 2009 have been studied.

The aims of this project were to describe the circumstances around dogs being left alone in CARS, to investigate owners? knowledge of the risks associated with leaving dogs in CARS and the relevant legislation and, finally, to study how changes in the air temperature and air composition in the car affect the dog. The project consisted of a survey of the literature, a questionnaire part and an experimental part. An important conclusion is the importance of the level of knowledge of owners, since there are several ways in which an owner can prevent their dog from heat stroke and, in the case of an eventual accident, their action can have direct consequences in minimizing the long-term damage to the dog and even whether or not it survives. Fewer than half of the owners in the study knew that for a dog suffering heat stroke, the most important thing is to bring the body temperature down. Only a third of dog owners knew that if a dog is left in a warm car and showing signs of heat stress, then the police should be contacted and the dog quickly helped out of the car.

Syfte: Syftet är att undersöka validiteten gällande hur väl accelerometern klassificerar mätningar vid 5 sekunders epok. Metod: Ett total av 13 barn i åldrarna 3-5 år inkluderades i studien som genomfördes med accelerometer GT1M och observation med hjälp av observationsprotokollet CARS. Varje barn hade på sig accelerometern i totalt 55 minuter och observerades samtidigt. Detta för att sen jämföra om accelerometern klassificerar samma beteende som observatörerna observerar. Beteendena var indelade i 4 klassificeringar: stillasittande, låg fysisk aktivitet, moderat fysisk aktivitet och kraftig fysisk aktivitet. Den fysiska aktiviteten/inaktiviteten var uppskattad efter 5 olika forskares skärningspunkter: Freedson (FR), Puyau (PU), Treuth (TR), Mattocks (MT) och Evenson (EV).

Den här rapporten är ett examensarbete utfört för Volvo CARS Uddevalla vid Linköpings tekniska högskola. Vår uppgift har varit att hjälpa Volvo CARS Uddevalla med att starta arbetet med energieffektivisering. Det gör vi genom att undersöka vilka möjligheter till energieffektiviseringar som finns för att minska framförallt elanvändningen. Vi har föreslagit ett antal effektiviseringsåtgärder genom att titta på de mest energiintensiva processerna på fabriken och målet för elanvändningen är att minska den med 50 procent.Effektiviseringsåtgärderna har tagits fram genom att leta systemfel, som i princip alltid finns inom ett företag, och genom att undersöka om icke elspecifika processer kan konverteras till bränslen. Det är framförallt stödprocesserna som undersökts eftersom det oftast är bland dem de största systemfelen finns.En uppskattning har slutligen utförts för hur stor energianvändningen blir efter genomförda förändringar.

This Master Thesis covers the concept of Green CARS. The background to the research area is the high and rapidly growing number of CARS, which together with other factors ad to the pollution of the environment. Under the Kyoto agreement the signing members agreed to lower the emissions of green house gases, further on the EU has a 3-pillar strategy on carbon dioxide and CARS. Included in the EU strategy is a voluntary commitment from the car industry to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from new CARS. The easiest way of lowering the emissions is by using alternative fuels and engines.

Vilka effekter ger särskilda insatser till personer som är uppsagda till följd av varsel? Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka effekterna på återgång till arbete av extra-insatta utbildningar som syftade till omställning vilka fanns tillgängliga för de som varslades vid Volvo CARS och dess underleverantörer 2008/2009. Effektutvärderingen utgår ifrån överlevnadsanalys där projektgruppen matchas mot en kontrollgrupp bestående av samtliga övriga varslade i Sverige. Resultaten visar att gruppen som tog del av utbildningsinsatserna hade signifikant långsammare återgång till arbete jämfört med en matchad kontrollgrupp..

 This abstract describes the bachelor degree thesis in computer technology at Växjö University. The company BSR in Växjö has requested an application that can measure a CARS performance, with attributes like acceleration times and engine power estimation. The communication between car and computer is via the USB port on the computer and the OBD-II socket on the car with the network protocol CAN, controller area network. CARS from VAG have been the primary focus group and the application has been tested on a Volkswagen Passat CC from 2009. The system is developed in the programming language C# in the environment Visual Studio with the framework .NET.

The aim of the present study was to estimate the correlation between Euro NCAP pedestrian rating scores and injury outcome in real-life car to pedestrian crashes, with special focus on long-term disability. The study also surveyed most frequently injured body regions and risk differences for specific elements of pedestrians hit by CARS. Another aim was to determine whether Brake Assist systems affect the injury outcome in real-life car to pedestrian crashes and to estimate the effect in injury reduction of a high Euro NCAP ranking score combined with Brake Assist.In the current study, the Euro NCAP pedestrian scoring was compared with the real-life outcome in pedestrian crashes that occurred in Sweden 2003-2010. The real-life crash data was obtained from the data acquisition system STRADA, which combines police records and hospital admission data. The medical data consisted of International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) diagnoses and Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) scoring.

The aim of this study is to examine possibilities and barriers for an introduction of electric vehicles in Sweden. The study has an interdisciplinary approach and thoroughly examines the essential topics which influence the future of the electric vehicle. The study reaches from answering the question on why electric vehicles lost the game to petrol CARS in the early 20th century, to sketch how the difference in total cost of ownership will be between electric vehicles and petrol CARS for the coming 20 years. Apart from these subjects the main topics of the study are today?s and tomorrow?s situation regarding technology, charging, fuel, market and economic incentives from an electric vehicle perspective.

Volvo CARS in Skövde manufacture and assemble Volvo engines. When attaching the ignition coil to all 4-cylinder engines, a special mounting tool is required. This mounting tool is currently manufactured from injection-molded polyoxymethylene (POM), a thermoplastic. It has been noted that the life span of the tool is shortened as a result of abrasive wear that occurs during the attachment process of the ignition coil.An investigation of the possibility of manufacturing the mounting tool with a 3D-printer is undertaken in cooperation with ÅF, a consultant to Volvo CARS. A literature study is first presented to introduce broader knowledge on the subject.

In recent decades here has been a huge development in information technology (IT), where we humans are increasingly using IT in our daily lives, ranging from social media to music streaming services; this has also been a reflection of the technologies developed to our CARS. Infotainment systems have become an increasingly regular feature in modern CARS where the high degree of integration such as navigation, mobile and Internet has become more common and more sought after. Despite this, relatively little research problemized User Experience of a complex infotainment system in a car. This study thus has the intention to consider the relevance of reality based tests by examining how the user experiences a complex infotainment system in a car. We asked ourselves; How do the user experience a complex infotainment system in a car? We conducted our qualitative study, an interview with researchers in the field of vehicle and road safety and designed a number of system-related activities in a test session where we observed three users.

Examensarbetet inleddes med en förstudie där olika förbättringsområden inom organisationen identifierades. Kommunikation i praktiken kan liknas vid ett förstärkningsverktyg vilket påverkar de vanligaste faktorerna för ett lyckat förändringsarbete. Idag måste en ledare och chef vara kommunikativ och det fungerar inte längre med att peka med hela handen. Medarbetarna måste förstå sin chef och ledare och det måste finnas ett samspel mellan dem. För att chefer och ledare ska styra förändringsprocessen behövs kommunikation.Syfte med examensarbetet är att undersöka hur kommunikationsprocessen kan användas som styrmedel mot en social förändring.

Not all payments that an employee receives are cash salary, but may also be salary benefits. It should not matter in which form an employee receives payment, taxation shall be equal despite the form of salary. Cash salary as well as salary in benefits are covered by a general rule in the Swedish Tax Law and shall therefore be taxed when they have a connection to the work performed. There are exemptions to the general rule as some benefits are tax free. In general, taxation shall be easy to foresee.   The legal rules that are treated in this thesis have a general meaning.
