The aim of this study is to examine marriage as something both desirable and normal in three popular novels from the 1860s about marriage: Rosa Carlén?s Agnes Tell: en äktenskapshistoria (1860), Marie Sophie Schwartz?s Alma eller De moderna äktenskapen (1860) and Sara Pfeiffer?s Aurora Trampe (1867). Using a theoretical perspective from Michel Foucault and Judith Butler, I have analysed the novels as being producers of, and resistance against, norms.The good marriage is partly depicted as a utopian vision in the novels, which therefore functions as fantasies for the readers. But it is also depicted as a realistic possibility. Though difficult to achieve, the main characters reach the goal through individual improvement towards correct behaviour.The question for the main characters is not whether they are going to marry or not, but how to make their marriages good ones.

The purpose of this paper is to make a feminist textual analysis of three female protagonists incontemporary novels in order to demonstrate representations of ?skeva? female bodies, deviantfrom beauty-, slender and age norms. The analysis is based on an intersectional perspective whichdemonstrates the interaction between body, sex, gender, class, sexuality and age. The theoreticalmaterial used are class theories by Bourdieu and Skeggs, performative theories by Butler, theoriesof grotesque realism by Bachtin and the female grotesque by Russo and Lundberg. This paper examines in what way the heterosexual matrix is challenged by Stephenie Meyer in Breaking dawn (Så länge vi båda andas). By doing a thematic study on the various family constellations appearing in the novel, I search for the queer elements in it. I discuss incest, family building and motherhood, and find that there are numerous queer elements associated with the themes I have chosen. I conclude that the Cullen family challenges the heterosexual matrix, despite not being typical queer vampire characters. I also find that building a successful family is not based on gender or constellation otherwise, but is instead dependant on democracy and equality.

Denna studies syfte har varit att undersöka om tre samhällsorienterade läromedel riktade mot mellanstadiet (Puls grundbok i samhällskunskap och religion samt SOL 3000s grundbok i religion) lever upp till Kumashimos teori om en undervisning som förändrar elever och samhälle med hänsyn till normer om kön och sexualitet, så som dessa formulerats av Judith Butler. Studien har med hjälp av diskursanalytiska verktyg visat att så inte är fallet. Istället visar studien att läromedlen till största delen osynliggör både genusvetenskapliga och queera perspektiv, även om det även finns tendenser till diskursiv kamp mellan könskonservativa och könsprogressiva diskurser. Bakgrunden till studien är de förtydligade målsättningarna för arbete med genus i skolans senaste styrdokument Läroplan för grundskolan 2011. Studien har en resultatdel där man finner läromedlens tal om kön och sexualitet.

I ett försök att låta poststrukturalismen närma sig materia, för min studie samman en queer psykoanalytisk syn på subjektskap, presenterad av Judith Butler, med miffoteori, en poststrukturell förståelse av funktionalitet, mestadels influerad av Robert McRuer och Lennard J. Davis, för att undersöka hur ramverket inom vilket subjektskap kan intas påverkas. Studien visar att det normata är kontextuellt definierat, och vidare att subjektskap är beroende av mötet mellan subjektet och en potentiellt funktionshindrande miljö; i vilken subjektet antingen passerar som normat eller inte. Detta rörliga subjektskap påverkas därigenom av faktorer såsom rädslan för det miffoeska, en kapitalistisk syn på medborgarskap samt möjligheten att (undermedvetet) nå en (temporär) position mellan det normata och det miffoeska, vars förhållande även genererar en ökad möjlighet för subversivt motstånd. Vidare menar jag att detta kan sägas utgöra ett ramverk inom vilket det blir möjligt att studera subjektskapet, genererat av maktordningar såsom klass, etnicitet etc..

Denna uppsats är en kritisk diskursanalytisk studie av hur föräldraskap framställs i artiklar från 2005 års utgivning av föräldramagasinet Vi Föräldrar. Centralt för uppsatsen är hur genus och senmodernitet skapas och ger betydelse i det empiriska materialet. Uppsatsen vilar på en socialkonstruktionistiskt grund, vilket innebär att människan skapar och omskapar världen, och vår förståelse av denna sker i interaktion med andra människor.I analysen av det empiriska materialet har det framkommit att föräldraskap beskrivs som något enbart avsett för de heterosexuella och den tillhörande heterosexuella parrelationen. Detta bidrar till ett upprätthållande av den heterosexuella matrisen likväl som den dikotomiska uppdelningen av två kön som varandras motsatser upprätthålls. Trots detta finns en strävan i Vi Föräldrar mot en mer jämlik fördelning av föräldraskapet.

The present essay concerns the Levinasian understanding of responsibility in relation to the two spheres that Levinas introduces in his second major work Otherwise than Being or Beyond Essence, namely the Saying and the Said. The essay investigates some of the different meanings that the concept responsibility takes on in regard to these two spheres, and thus also in regard to the separation between the ethical and the political that is apparent in the book. Is it possible to find a politically uttered responsibility in Levinas Otherwise than Being or Beyond Essence?The essay wants to emphasize the continuous transition between the ethical or the Saying and the political or the Said, and vice versa, with the purpose of showing how the two spheres may be conceived simultaneously. By posing the relationship between the two as a reciprocal rather than a oppositional one, the essay aims to suggest that an understanding of responsibility at once must be ethical and political.

My main purpose with this paper of John Steinbecks Of mice and men is to both analyze the long-lived structures and the unique individual destinies of the novel. I employ the method of the historical Annales-movement and use three divided levels in my analysis to try to capture these high structures and low moments of humanity in Structure, Konjuncture and the Individuality. The first level, Structure, is used to see how long-lived almost invisible geographic structures set the human act of condition. The second level, Konjuncture, is easier to grasp in understanding of time and embraces for example economic structures as the industrialism. The last level of Individuality is the fastest in time and easiest to understand but in the long run also the least important.
