The purpose of this study was to study how metaphors are used in sports chronicles . As a complement, we also chose to study whether there are gender differences in the use of metaphors. We also wanted to take a look at whether journalists tend to mythologize sports stars with the help of metaphors. We have been using a qualitative study in our work. We chose to examine four sports journalists who writes sports chronicles for the newspaper Aftonbladet.

Bakgrund: Den psykiska ohälsan hos unga flickor har ökat drastiskt och förändringar i miljöer där ungdomar befinner sig kan vara en anledning till denna ökning. Media har stor inverkan på människor då vi dagligen exponeras i form av internet, sociala medier, TV och press. I dagens samhälle ligger stort fokus på hälsa och kroppsförändring vilket måga ungdomar vill sträva efter. Syfte: Att undersöka medias beskrivning av rådande kroppsideal och dess påverkan på unga flickor i åldern 13-25 år. Metod:  Detta var en litteraturstudie med tematisk metod och databaserna som användes för att hitta artiklar var PubMed och Psycinfo. Utefter de resultaten som hittades framkom tre teman. Resultat: Medias tunna kroppsideal kan bidra till att unga flickor får sämre självkänsla och ångest och kan leda till depression och ätstörningar. Kroppsuppfattningen visade sig vara sämst under tonåren och att jämföra sig med andra och känna press från omgivningen var ett vanligt förekommande.

The competition for people´s attention becomes harder and harder. If the libraries want to continue to attract visitors it´s important that their business is promoted. The purpose of this thesis is to in-vestigate how two public libraries work with marketing. The study is based on a marketing model, introduced by Philip Kotler and further developed by Eileen Elliott de Sáez. Kotler believes that marketing is a social process and that everything can be promoted.

Det Intellektuella kapitalet (IC) är en viktig innovation som presenterats inom ekonomistyrningsområdet och består av ett företags human- och strukturkapital, även kallat immateriella tillgångar. Genombrottet kring IC kom 1995 då Skandia och Leif Edvinsson, direktör hos Skandia av det intellektuella kapitalet, för första gången i världen redovisade IC som ett tillägg i sin årsredovisning. Diffusion av innovationer som IC nås ut till samhället via olika kanaler. Även fast IC anses vara en potentiell stark metod kan det diskuteras att det endast handlar om ett fashion eller fad inom ekonomistyrningen, det vill säga en relativt övergående innovation. Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva och förklara diffusionen av intellektuellt kapital inom allmän svensk press.

Introduction: A complex interaction between muscles, tendons, bones, joints and nerves are required for optimal function of the human hand. It is known that an individual?s grip strength is vital for performance of physical demanding tasks such as strength training with free weights. Strength training including a thicker grip around the bar may enhance the strength of the grip in the athlete without other special routines for grip strength development. The purpose of this investigation was to examine the difference in performance in multiple repetitions in two strength training exercises using two different sizes on the bar, to look for correlations between grip strength of the subjects hand and the amount of repetitions executed with two different size of the bar and finally the correlation of hand size and the amount of repetitions executed with two different size of the bar.Method: 15 strength training men (23,9 ± 4,1 years), underwent measurements of hand size, maximum grip strength, 1 repetition maximum (1RM), a 80 % of 1RM weight strength test with two different  bar sizes.Results: The results from the present investigation indicates a 21,1 % reduction of 80 % of 1 RM weight performance in repetitions executed in the bench press with the thicker diameter of the bar and a 66,2 % reduction in repetitions executed with a 80 % of 1 RM weight in the lying bench row with the thicker diameter of the bar.

This study concerns how Muslims are portrayed in a choice of twelve news articles from Swedish dailies and tabloid newspapers on the aftermath of the film Innocence of Muslims published on YouTube. All articles are distributed in the newspapers Aftonbladet, Expressen, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet in the period of September 11th, 2012 until September 30th, 2012.For this study, a qualitative text analysis has been embraced and focus has been on van Dijk?s Critical discourse analysis to the texts, with additional features from semiotics applied on the images.The theories consist of Critical discourse analysis, hegemony, ideology and power, postcolonialism and stereotyping.In the qualitative content analysis, concrete examples from the articles are retrieved and commented. These have been divided into various themes, which are trends that the authors have been able to distinguish in the analysis.The result shows that Muslims in the analyzed newspapers are portrayed as the others, unimportant and extremely religious, in a negative manner rather than a positive. Moreover the press has tendencies to generalize Muslims as a group.

In this Masters thesis the image of the public library in the local press and in the eyes of the public is examined. The questions posed to examine this are: - What activities of the public library are described in the local press? - What activities does the public associate with the public library? - What functions and roles of the public library can be found in the articles and interviews and how are they expressed? - What opinions of the public library and hereto related activities can be found in the articles and interviews? This study is based on an analysis of 127 articles, published in Borås Tidning during a period of six months, and of interviews with 35 people from Sjuhäradsbygden. To analyse the articles and the interviews Marianne Andersson and Dorte Skot-Hansen´s model of roles for the library has been used. The model includes four roles for the library: the library as a cultural centre, a knowledge centre, an information centre and a social centre.

Motivation: The aim of this study has been to conduct a comparative study concerning how race, ethnicity and class is represented in American contrary to Swedish daily press and from there on to explore and explain similarities and differences that have been found in the material.Problem statement:? How is race, ethnicity and class represented in American contrary Swedish daily press?? What are the similarities and differences between the countries? daily news flow?? What causes the similiarities and differences to achieve their current form?Material: The material which has been the subject of this study consists of eight articles ? four American articles (USA Today) and four Swedish articles (Dagens Nyheter). The material has been elected to meet certain criterias and mainly discusses the effects the health care reform will have on the American population.Approach: The material has been approached by using theories concerned with race, ethnicity, class and framing. The method used to analyze the material was Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA).Results: The results shows significant similarities, although mainly differences, between the countries? daily news flow.

Genom Statistiska centralbyrån erhölls information om de kommuner med högst och lägst medelinkomst i Stockholms län 2005. Vårt urval var begränsat till tennis och handboll. Undersökningsgruppen bestod av totalt 238 respondenter varav 125 killar och 107 tjejer.ResultatResultaten visade att de allra flesta ungdomar, nio av tio, inte upplevde någon eller endast ?låg? föräldrapress.

Is social media becoming a new form of interview? This is a quantitative study about the use of quotations from social media in Swedish newspapers. We chose the online editions of two of Sweden?s biggest newspapers for this, namely aftonbladet.se and dn.se.Although we noticed a big difference between the more serious dn.se and the more scandal-oriented aftonbladet.se both newspaper still frequently used quotations from social media.The thing that we found most troublesome about this phenomenon was the fact that we found that journalists very rarely contacted the person whose quotations they used. That meant that the interviewee had a very slim chance of correcting any misunderstandings.It also opened up the opportunity for certain people to use the media to spread their own agendas without getting questioned.We used the social institutionalizing theory and the social responsibility theory to verify our findings.

Abstract 1.The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects whole body vibrations on maximal strength, power output and neuromuscular activity in m. pectoralis major during bench press.Participants consisted of 35 male and 9 female military high school students (m=23, 1 years). On the basis of initial maximal performances in bench press the participants was divided into two experiments groups and one control group. Intervention groups performed a specifically designed push up program on a vibrating plate respectively a step board during 12 weeks Initial load at 60 % of 1 RM showed an average of 46, 5 kg. All groups showed an average increase of 13 kg for each person after 12 weeks.

I samband med skolans decentralisering på 1980-talet uppstod det krav på att lärare skulle bli mer professionella i sin yrkesutövning. Då regeringen ställer högre krav på lärarna är det därför nu naturligt att de går lärarna till mötes då det gäller en utredning om lärarauktorisation.Vi valde att ställa oss frågan hur lärarfacklig press argumenterar för eller emot en lärarauktorisation för att uppnå det specifika syftet som är: att belysa vad en lärarauktorisation kan betyda för lärarkårens professionaliseringssträvanden.I vår empiriska undersökning valde vi att förhålla oss till metoden argumentationsanalys då metoden lämpar sig bra när argument skall lyftas ut och förstås ur tidsskrifter. Mer specifikt valde vi att förhålla oss till modellen orsak-problem-lösning för att få en överblick av och en insikt i argumentationen för eller emot en auktorisering.Med hjälp av metoden kom vi fram till att argumenten i hög grad kunde härledas till lärares professionaliseringssträvan mot "social stängning". Detta innebär att en eventuell lärarauktorisation skulle betyda en hel del för lärarkåren, exempelvis att lärarkåren lyckas avgränsa sig gentemot andra yrken och därmed kanske på sikt uppnå högre status..
