BIOGAS POTENTIAL IN GRASSES FROM WETLANDSMarvin MartinsThe purpose of this study has been to survey wetlands that are suitable for mowing and to analyze the biogas potential in the harvested grasses. A preformed investigation showed that there are suitable wetlands, which can be harvestable, namely those mowed formerly in traditional haymaking. The practice of traditional haymaking is dying out in Sweden today but there are several good reasons why it should to be reconsidered. Nature- and cultural values are obvious, also the unutilized energy in the grass.The suitable types of wetland that were specifically studied were the productive wetlands; meadow marshes and wet meadows. These wetlands are represented in the Swedish meadow- and pasture inventory database; (TUVA) and the Swedish national wetland inventory (VMI).

Several radioactive nuclides were deposited in Sweden after the Chernobyl accident in 1986. The greatest attention was given to 137Cs because of its relative long physical half life of about 30 years. 137Cs will be present in nature for more than 100 years before it has vanished completely. When radiocaesium decays to a stable end product ionizing radiation is emitted, which can cause cancer in humans that has been exposed to a high radiation dose. Radiocaesium behaves like potassium and is easily taken up into biological systems.

Syfte: På 90-talet bestämde Ingvar Kamprad att fyra testvaruhus skulle utses för att vara egna bolag inom IKEA-koncernen. Kamprad ville att varuhusen skulle hitta tillbaka till den småföretagaranda som en gång fanns inom IKEA. IKEA Gävle valdes ut för detta uppdrag och vi har utfört studien efter att ha kommit i kontakt med IKEA Gävles ekonomichef som satt in oss i ämnet. Ekonomichefen gav som förslag att vi skulle jämföra deras varuhus med ett annat varuhus i samma storlek, valet av varuhus blev IKEA Uppsala. Vi ansåg att detta var ett intressant uppdrag för både oss och dem.

I uppsatsens inledning påtalas att medier influerar samhället och därigenom människors sätt att vara och känna. För att utveckla arbetsmetoder som svarar mot samhällets syn på text framhålls att dagens bibliotekarier bör ta detta i beaktan. Syftet med undersökningen är att studera bibliotekariers arbetsmetoder i samband med lässtimulerande arbete i ett samhälle som ses stå inför ett nytt textlandskap. Resultatet är en kvalitativ fallstudie som undersöker bibliotekarierna i tvärgruppen Unggruppen på Uppsala Stadsbibliotek och deras upplevelser av fenomenet. I kapitlet ?Bakgrund och tidigare forskning? presenteras forskning om samtida text, lässtimulerande arbete för barn och unga och bibliotekariers arbete mot unga på folkbibliotek.Det teoretiska ramverket består av ett sociokulturellt perspektiv så som det beskrivs av Roger Säljö.

Kommunikation på byggarbetsplatsen har en stor förbättringspotential enligtSvensk Byggtjänsts undersökning. Rapporten visar att stora besparingar kangöras i byggbranschen och särskilt hos entreprenadföretagen. Dettaexamensarbete beskriver hur kommunikationen sker på två av Skanskasbyggarbetsplatser i Uppsala. Det visade sig att majoriteten av de problem somuppstår i byggskedet kan härledas till en brist på tydlighet i kommunikationenpå byggarbetsplatsen. En litteraturstudie har utförts som grund till arbetet.

 Abstract  Interest in Lean grows and spreads to the public from industrial and service sectors. Lean is currently used in administrative processes and it is called Administration but can administration be Lean? The aim of our study is to develop a useful model for a successful implementation of Lean Administration by using various scientific articles, books and information from the case study.The part of the purpose is to: ? Identify critical success factors that arise? Identify the challenges arising from the implementation of Lean Administration.We have studied a Division within Distribution at GE Healthcare in Uppsala. The model that we have developed provides challenges and success factors for a successful implementation.In order to succeed in implementation, a culture that promotes continuous improvement must exist in the organization. A key success factor is to understand Lean Administrations structure and principles.

In this essay I discuss and analyse if we can witness any signs on regional dimension due to regional representation from our elected representatives in the five constituencies Malmö, Blekinge, Norrbotten, Uppsala and Stockholm. Two seperate terms of office between 1991-94 and 1998-2002 has been compared. In political science there has been much debate about the relationship between voters and their elected. By measuring each and everyone elected representatives in the work of produce introduced bills towards their own constitiency during both terms I have tried to see if there is an occurence of a regional dimension.The theory that´s been applied is based on geographical representation where one might aspect that central metropolitan areas and peripheral regions is somewhat over-represented in legislatures. By using a method of comparison between the five chosen constituencies and theirs elected representatives I have come the the conclusion that there is a weak tendency that this might be the case seen to a regional dimension perspective..

Bakgrund: Idag finns ett tydligt behov av att minska utsläpp av växthusgaser. Hoten mot miljön innebär att det är bråttom att utveckla hållbara system för livsmedelsproduktion. Utvecklingen ska tillgodose dagens behov utan att äventyra kommande generationers möjligheter att tillgodose sina behov, och där har konsumenter samt jordbruket en viktig roll att spela. Det debatteras idag om huruvida ekologiskt eller konventionellt jordbruk är det bästa alternativet för en hållbar livsmedelsproduktion. Då studenter ofta har en begränsad budget är det intressant att undersöka deras inställning till hållbar livsmedelsproduktion och hur det påverkar deras livsmedelsval.Syfte: Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att undersöka studenters förhållningssätt till hållbar livsmedelskonsumtion och produktion samt vilka konsekvenser dessa får för deras livsmedelsval.Metod: En webbaserad enkätstudie utfördes där deltagarna, studenter vid Uppsala universitet och SLU i Uppsala, nåddes via www.facebook.com.

Weathering on rocks is an important component of the world?s geomorphology. One way to measure weathering on rocks is to analyse rock hardness. This is a study conducted in the northern hemisphere on granite rocks in Uppsala, Sweden. A Schmidt hammer is used to create a correlation analysis between the aspects on three glacial erratic boulders and rock weathering.

This study forms part of the R&D project "Improved survival of bird chicks in organic fields" managed by the Rural Economy & Agricultural society in Uppsala. The skylark (Alauda arvensis) is a species that has decreased drastically in Sweden as a consequence of more intensive cropping. Studies in England have shown that skylark reproduction can be greatly improved within conventional fields, at a low cost, by establishing patches of bare ground (skylark plots). Within conventional farming, herbicides can be used in case a weed problem arises due to implementation of these skylark plots, whereas this is not allowed in organic farming. This study examined the effects of skylark plots on the weed culture in organic autumn-sown (winter) cereals and whether weeds might cause long-term problems to farmers. The study was conducted in two parts; a field study and a review of the literature regarding the weeds observed. The field study was carried out in 2007 during three weeks in June and three weeks in July, on eleven organic fields with winter cereal in the vicinity of Uppsala.

This thesis is an attempt to see if it is possible to achieve these goals with the new modern tool iPad.The author of this thesis has during the latter half of his one year practice work in Uppsala for the Swedish building construction company NCC Construction Sverige AB, conducted a study on the possibility of using the iPad on an construction site. This has been done with active field studies in which applications have been tested and also the supervisors receptive. The usability of the iPad has always been in focus since it is important that the applications are easy to use and easy to learn.The results of the work, as presented in this report, points at opportunities in efficiency if the iPad is introduced and used on construction site. There are many useful applications for the iPad, and with a system that can handle the synchronization between the iPad and the computer, the workflow will be streamlined significantly..
