The fertility of the North Swedish horse was investigated using a questionnaire. Data concerning altogether 73 North Swedish stallions and 213 mares used for breeding during the season 2005 were collected and analysed. The survey also included the analyses of 305 breeding case Books, especially distributed for this study, from 27 stallions. The aim was to collect information on how the breeding was carried out in the North Swedish horse, and to learn what categories of mares that were covered and what routines were used in these farms. Breeding statistics from 1999 to 2004 was also analysed to complete the questionnaire.

This essay is about reading among patients in hospital. The aim of the essay is to find out what part reading and the library play for patients in hospital. An additional aim is to find out in what ways the collaboration between hospital librarians and hospital staff could be developed. The starting-point of the problem is one main question: What part does reading play for the patient during the stay at the hospital? On the basis of the answers to this question I have also looked for possibilities of enhanced co-operation between hospital libraries and hospital staff.The method for the essay is qualitative and fifteen persons in three different wards at University Hospital in Malm have been interviewed.

En diskussion via telefon om hur den första filmen såg ut ledde oss in på ett spår där vi pratade om hur man genom tiden hade använt sig av olika metoder för att skapa en illusion av rörelse. Tankebanorna ledde oss vidare till en fråga om hur vi skulle kunna göra för att skapa något rörligt på ett sätt som inte ofta ses i dessa tider. Skulle vi kunna göra en film som återigen känns genuin, något som är mer än ett par pixlar på en skärm? Anledningen till att vi ville försöka uppnå en genuin känsla var mycket för att man kanske idag har slutat se film som en konstform. The main purpose of this essay is to study how classroom interaction can take place in a class for Second Language Learners (SLL).1 I have applied a case study methodology on a linguistic method used by a Teacher in Swedish as Second Language working on a primary school situated in the Southern suburbs of Stockholm. The learning method is based on extensive reading of Books which comprehend several learning techniques organized into a process that support the development of linguistic skills such as discussing in a group, writing, reading and thinking in a second language. This study aims to find out how the selection and acquisitions of eBooks made by university libraries is affected by vendors terms of sale. The empirical data is based on interviews with libraries working with selection and acquisition of eBooks. The interviews points out, according to Evans? model of collection development, that the collection development doesn´t work the same way with printed and electronic Books. This thesis investigates the reception of middle literature novels among critics in Swedish newspapers and at Swedish libraries. Works by three authors were chosen as representatives for middle literature: Helen Fielding, Nick Hornby and Tony Parsons. The investigation is based on interviews with librarians at the Gothenburg City Library, the total purchased number of Books at public libraries in Sweden and analysis of Swedish newspaper reviews. The result is compared with theories by literary sociologists as Jofrid Karner Smidt, Janice Radway, Erland Munch-Petersen and Staffan Bergsten among others. Konsten att berätta historier med bilder och illustrationer är något som har funnits i flera tusen år. Detta kandidatarbete undersöker ämnet illustrerad narrativ och redogör olika aspekter och principer som är avgörande för att man ska kunna förmedla ett budskap med hjälp av illustrationer. Idag förknippas illustrerad narrativ framför allt med serietidningar, bilderböcker och grafiska romaner som berättar en narration i form av en serie av bilder. Under den teoretiska delen av arbetet har jag först gått igenom illustrerat narrativs historia och sedan redovisat principer för det moderna illustrerat narrativet. Jag har också forskat kring bildens kommunikativa värde och samspelet mellan bild och text.

The aim of this thesis is to examine how the identity of the public librarianwith regard to reading is manifested in the library field. The approaches thatare taken to reading and readers are examined as well as the consequencesdifferent approaches might have. The empirical material is based on 93articles published in Swedish library journals. The theoretical andmethodological starting point is discourse analysis. The application ofdiscourse analysis according to Michel Foucault?s hypotheses reveals threediscursive formations regarding the professional identity of public librarianswithin the framework of reading promotion: The public librarian asguarantor of democracy is related to the public library's original mission offostering, cultivating and educating citizens.
