In this thesis a transport system is sought after thatif realised in the city of Uppsala could provide bothwell-being to all its inhabitants and sustainability,here jointly refered to as liveability. It is found thatthe car dominated transport system that is inoperation today provides two fundamental values,namely accessibility in both time and space, whichsets it apart from other transport solutions. Thesetwo values are of immense importance for theliveability in our modern world. On the other handthe car dominated system decreases the liveabilityof Uppsala in several different ways. Some of theseproblems, it is argued, could be solved within thecar system, through the adoption of moreenvironmentally friendly cars etc., but otherproblems are inherent in the car system and willremain no matter what changes are made.

The purpose of this thesis has been to investigate the effect of introducing the qualitystandard ISO 9001:2000 at Metso Paper Service in Sundsvall. The investigation has been focused on implementation of the new method of work, Continuous improvements. The implementation has been studied in a case study with both a qualitative and quantitative method. Continuous Improvements is a way of working focused on continuously increasing the efficiency and having the purpose of achieving the formulated goals. This is often accomplished by the organisation carrying out the changing process to a great extent in small but efficient teams.

This report investigates the possibility to use non-petroleum based adhesive (biobitumen) in asphalt. The main reasons for replacing bitumen are the fact that oil prices are rising, the threat of peak oil and the fact that the asphalt industry is becoming more environmentally friendly.The main purpose of this report is to investigate whether there are any non-petroleum based adhesives on the market. If so, how can they be used? The questions covered are:? Are there any other alternative asphalt coatings available?? Can bio-oils be used in asphalt?? If the bio-oils can be used, what are the details their properties?? How does a cold climate affect the bio binders?? What is the Swedish asphalt industry?s opinion about bio asphalt?The project was concluded through literature studies, consultations with people in the asphalt industry and through several interviews.The conclusion of this report is that there are some existing non-petroleum based adhesives on the market. They are mainly used for Bike paths, sidewalks and parkareas.

The work examines geographical variations of bicycle use in Trondheim municipality with the aim to create an understanding of what influences the use of bicycles and explain the geographical travel pattern for cycling. The work focuses on the how physical structures generates different transports effects. Where bicycle travels in Trondheim municipality are undertaken is described by using network analysis in ArcGIS, based on aggregated data from the travel habit survey (RVU) in 2009/2010. Trondheim municipality is divided into smaller geographical units (zoner) whose characteristics are described by 19 variables, categorized into 6 groups; Distance, Land use, Topography, Bicycle Facilities, Road characteristics and Demographic factors.By linear regression analysis in SPSS and ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, an explanatory model is elaborated. The variablesdistance to the regional center, workplace density, percentage separate Bike paths and hilly terrain explains 78 percent of where cycle journeys are undertaken.

This report is a bachelor thesis work within the field of Product Development and is also an assignment for Thule Sweden. The work has been performed by Niclas Tjäderborn and Christian Holm, students at the Mechanical Engineering Program with major in Product Development and Industrial Design at Jönköping School of Engineering during spring the semester of 2009.The thesis work concerned the development of a new wheel holder for Bike carrier for Thule Sweden. The background to the project was that the initiator wanted a more user friendly wheel holder with better design than those available on the market. The wheel holder is able to be implemented on one or several of Thule?s current wheel holders.

Sommarturismen i Sälen är i ett utvecklingsskede. I Sälen har man skapat en projektgrupp vars uppgift är att utveckla sommarturismen i regionen. Syftet är även att locka besökare så Sälen kan hålla öppet sina anläggningar året om och skapa arbetstillfällen även på sommaren för dem som jobbar vinterhalvåret. Denna projektgrupp består av en styrgrupp med representanter från olika företag i Sälenområdet, från de lokala aktörerna, kommunen och Skistar. Skistar är de företaget som äger anläggningarna i Sälenfjällen.

Mobility Management is about affecting and changing the demand of mobility. It?s not about what traditional planning?s been focused on; to supply for the demand. The demand of mobility is created by us humans since the traffic exists of us. That means that Mobility Management is about changing our needs.

Forskning har visat att barns olika lärstilar inte tillgodoses fullt ut i dagens skolor. Den traditionella undervisningsformen där eleverna sitter stilla på sina platser och lärarenöverför kunskap till eleverna tycks vara det rådande exemplet i skolan än idag. Ändå visar forskning att drama som undervisningsmetod har för-mågan att fånga upp elevernas intresse, öka deras självförtroende och få dem att lättare lära och minnas genom att de får erfara med kroppen och sina sinnen. Syftet med studien är att, via en kvalitativ ansats, undersöka hur drama användes i undervisningen och vilken effekt drama hade på elevernas inlärning och utveckling. Därför utfördes deltagande lektionsobservationer och semistrukturerade intervjuer med utvalda pedagoger.

The solution should be applicable to several types of product groups. A limitation for this work has been made so that the work only covers solutions for lighter vehicles.The purpose is to drive this project forward, so that a solution can be found. Furthermore the purpose of the report is to clarify how the authors proceeded to design and construct the wheel according to a fixed specification.

New technology and urban sprawl have resulted in almost half of the population in Sweden being insufficiently physically active. The sedentary lifestyle causes heart- and vascular diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, stress etc. in the population. One of the biggest priorities in the society is to promote more physical activity. Through literature studies and a questionnaire this paper will examine how we can design the built environment in order to promote physical exercise and if we can change the sedentary lifestyle with a outdoor environment that invite physical exercise. There are both internal and external factors that have importance for people?s physical activity.

Studien byggde på tre frågeställningar: På vilket sätt påverkar uppvärmningen prestationen vid ett maximalt vertikalhopp? På vilket sätt påverkar uppvärmningen prestationen vid ett maximalt fem sekunders sprinttest? Vilken uppvärmning är optimal för maximal muskulär explosivitet?MetodDesignen var en kvantitativ experimentell studie som innefattade fyra fysiskt aktiva kvinnor med genomsnittsålder på 24 år. Hållbar utveckling är ett begrepp som hörs överallt idag. Men vad betyder det och vad är en hållbar stad? Som blivande landskapsarkitekt har jag blivit intresserad av vad jag kan göra i framtiden för att främja en hållbar stadsutveckling. Syftet med uppsatsen är således att öka min förståelse för hur planerare kan främja utvecklandet av en hållbar stad samt att andra inom samma yrkesområde skall kunna ta del av mina insikter. Jag har i denna uppsats fördjupat mig i hur svenska städer idag arbetar med hållbara lösningar med litteraturstudie som främsta metod. Inledningsvis i uppsatsen, tas grundläggande mål, riktlinjer och regler upp för att ge en grund till följande redogörelser.

Det här arbetet handlar om gång- och cykelpassager som är en del av ett grönstråk i en stadsmiljö. Studierna fokuserar på tre utvalda platser i Uppsala. Idag anses cykling som en del av en sund, hållbar och miljövänlig livsstil. Städer försöker att öka antalet cyklister och gående medan bilar ska stegvist trängas ut ur stadskärnan. Gång- och cykelpassager som är en del av ett helt cykelnät kännetecknas i sin planering och design av tekniska och trafikrelaterade faktorer eftersom det är trafikplanerare som ansvarar för dem som en del av gatan. Trots att denna specifika typ av gång- och cykelpassager inte bara är en del av cykelnätet utan också av ett rekreationsområde, fattas ofta det landskapsarkitektoniska perspektivet.
