The use of thin and attractive models to promote companies' products is widespread among marketers. This is true even for companies whose products have little or no association with Beauty or body weight. As the proportion of overweight people continues to grow in many developed countries the ideals used by marketers to attract customers strays further away from the actual attributes of the customers themselves. What is little understood is what effect overweight has on the efficiency of the product promoter. Some limited research has studied how the efficiency of the product promoters in printed advertisements is affected by the existence of congruence between the product promoter and the product itself.

With emphasis on women's magazines and men, this essay will revolve around the image of the ideal woman. Our purpose was to examine whether men have a distinct image regarding the appearance and behaviour of the ideal woman. Next step was to establish whether the women's magazines also presented a specific image to their readers.The answers were found through a qualitative study that included ten men, and through an extensive analysis by women's magazines. The result indicated that both the men questioned and the women's magazines presented a clear view of an ideal woman. The views held by the men, were then compared to the images presented by the women's magazines and were found to be very similar.We used Erving Goffmans sociological theory to describe the actual woman and the ideal images of women that the men questioned and the women's magazines presented.

The first information recruiters have access to, when recruiting a new co-worker is the applicant´s CV. It may even happen that the applicants are sending a photo with the CV, which can lead to the possibility that the appearance of the applicant will affect the assessment. Previous research shows that individuals who are regarded as beautiful get a better assessment than those who are considered to be ugly or mediocre looking, but if this can be prevented through awareness, the problem can easily be counteracted. The purpose of this thesis is to, through an experimental study, investigate whether recruiters can avoid being affected by the applicant?s appearance in the assessment of their CV if they receive information about the stereotypical thinking that is tied to a person's appearance.

Detta examensarbete innefattar en teoretisk och en praktisk del om marknadsundersökningar. Inom teoridelen har litteratur inom ämnet studerats för att sedan genomföra en marknadsundersökning. Utöver detta ha resultatet som erhållts ur marknadsundersökningen tillämpats för att ta fram ett designkoncept för en serie ansiktscremer.Marknadsundersökningen utfördes i form av en observationsresearch där ansiktscremer av olika priser och märken jämfördes, samt en webbenkät där målgruppen fick svara på frågor om ansiktscremers behållare och behållarens färg. Målgruppen är satt till män och kvinnor över 15 år som använder ansiktscreme. För att marknadsundersökningen ska vara möjlig att genomföra inom satta tidsramar skickades webbenkäten endast ut till studenter vid Högskolan Dalarna i Borlänge samt till läsare av modebloggen ?Hopplösa Modenördar?.Totalt inkom 469 svar.Resultatet visade att vitt, silver och svart är de färger som tilltalar män mest i fråga om ansiktscremebehållare.
