The purpose of this thesis is to identify factors that can lead to success for small and medium-sized enterprises in Gästrikland.Method: We analysed 559 interview surveys that were collected during the years 2004-2010 and success factors were defined. Additionally, financial reports from the database Retriever were analysed.

Konsten att berätta historier med bilder och illustrationer är något som har funnits i flera tusen år. Detta kandidatarbete undersöker ämnet illustrerad narrativ och redogör olika aspekter och principer som är avgörande för att man ska kunna förmedla ett budskap med hjälp av illustrationer. Idag förknippas illustrerad narrativ framför allt med serietidningar, bilderböcker och grafiska romaner som berättar en narration i form av en serie av bilder. Under den teoretiska delen av arbetet har jag först gått igenom illustrerat narrativs historia och sedan redovisat principer för det moderna illustrerat narrativet. Jag har också forskat kring bildens kommunikativa värde och samspelet mellan bild och text.

The report is part of the university´engineer program within Industrial Organization and Economics with specialization in Logistics and Managment at Jönköping´s university.Skoghall´s mill underlies a large supply chain, which means there should be a lot of areas in need of small improvement measures. This report illustrates a small part of one of these areas and is focused on the loading distribution services in the terminal Vänern.At the moment there´s a very unequal load of the load carriers SECU box and Container at the terminal. Skoghall´s mill has the desire to equalize the high and low load levels of the 2 loading carriers named previously. One of the options to solve the problem is to set a limit of how much the carriers can load per week or per day. The mill also wants it to be investigated if the proposition would influence the customers in any way and if both the company and its customers could handle a lower level of delivery services in case the proposition was to be applied.The goal to be achieved with this thesis is to provide Balance to the unequall loading of the 2 load carriers, SECU and Container, and investigate whether or not the Skoghall´s mill´s customers, could manage the lower degree of delivery service that the proposition would imply.For this goal to be achieved, random sample investigations were taken from orders of a customer that is provided with SECU load carriers and the same was made with a Container´s customer.

Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva den upplevda aktivitetsbalansen hos heltidsanställda officerare i marinen inom den svenska Försvarsmakten. Åtta heltidsarbetande officerare, som högst uppnått graden kapten samt hade hemmaboende barn intervjuades utifrån en semistrukturerad intervjuguide. Materialet analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys och det resulterade i två domäner ?till sjöss? och ?i land? som sedan delades upp i fem kategorier; ?Obalans under perioderna till sjöss?, ?Intensiva perioder till sjöss kräver återhämtning?, ?Arbetet till sjöss påverkar familjens aktivitetsbalans?, ?Arbetet stannar på arbetet? och ?Stor mängd kvalitetstid i land kan väga upp obalansen till sjöss?. Officerarna beskrev sin vardag som uppdelade i två, till sjöss och i land.

The Swedish alcohol market has for many years been in the hands of the government. The question of the monopoly, its being or not being, has for a long time engaged both Swedish citizens and politicians. Since joining the European Union it has also been on the European agenda, trying to adapt Sweden to the more liberal alcohol politic in Europe.The suppliers find themselves acting on a completely different market than a market based on free competition. The suppliers are faced with one retail channel to the stores which creates dependence and uneven power Balance towards the retailer. In addition to this, their marketing activities are strictly limited due to the laws and claims.

AbstractPresentation of the problem: The goal with this graduation project is to produce a new visual concept for the student newspaper Campus, this will be expressed in the form of page templates. The page templates will have a visual concept that appears through graphical elements. The client's wishes were that the student newspaper should be audience appropriate, attractive, inviting, reliable, modern and functional to work with.Theory: In order to implement the wishes and in a good way produce a consistent visual concept, we took a starting point in theory of graphic design. This theory has taken many of its principles from aesthetic theory, and therefore have we also used aesthetics to provide a deeper theoretical aspect. The principles we used in graphic design is; how to create a unity in the layout by using basic elements such as text, images, and white space.

Introduktion: Patientsäkerhet är en viktig fråga inom hälso- och sjukvården. Vårdskadorna kostar inte bara samhället stora summor varje år utan även de drabbade onödigt lidande. Sjuksköterskor är den yrkeskategori som står patienterna närmast och innehar kunskaper om faktorer som påverkar patientsäkerheten. Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av vad som påverkar patientsäkerheten på slutenvårdsenheterna på en medicinklinik.Metod: Studien genomfördes i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer som analyserades genom kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Som teoretisk referensram har Jean Watsons omvårdnadsteori använts.

The Swedish food retail market contains of three major actors, ICA, KF and Axfood, all in all dominating 75 percent of the total market shares. The scant number of retailing actors indicates that the Swedish food retail market is a highly concentrated oligopoly, which as a fact has given rise to definite discussions and argumentations concerning the market situation. But is the food retail market imperfect and how do we reach a workable competition? Economic theory does not provide any clear answer on these questions, but is rather divided into two fundamentally different approaches to define competition: the static and the dynamic perspective on competition. In an attempt to examine the competition on local Swedish retail markets, the purpose of this study is to carry out an econometric model estimating the situation.

Context: During the 21st century several alarming reports have been published that deals with the depletion and pollutant of the earth by human interference. The earth is an ending resource and so are the mountains and bedrocks which are continuously mined in order to harvest its minerals. The idea behind Urban Mining is to (re)invent processes enabling further purpose for materials both from old deposits and new products providing secondary raw materials and energy. This thesis aims to investigate the challenges and opportunities of how firms and organizations can and will be able to strike a better Balance between product-/service systems, economic growth and environmental stewardship in the context of Urban Mining as an approach. With the innovation of processes, technology, business- planning and creation in focus.Objective: How to future proof a business model for Urban Mining by the usage of business model design.Method: This thesis will be conducted using a case study approach, meaning that it will incorporate qualitative, exploratory and descriptive characteristics - aiming towards enabling both applied and fundamental research.Results: The result evaluates the business model element differences between traditional C&D industry and Urban Mining industry.

AbstractEffective January 1, 2005 publicly listed companies were obliged to adopt a new financialreporting standard (IFRS/IAS). The objective of IFRS/IAS was to increase transparency andcomparability in financial reports between companies. The authors have chosen to write aboutIAS 40 where the accounting treatment for investment property and related disclosurerequirements are regulated.The purpose of this thesis is to investigate potential effects of valuation of investmentproperty at fair market value for real estate companies at times when market price decreasesand to investigate what an acceptable difference for the valuation could be.To fulfil this purpose the authors have chosen a qualitative method interviewing accountants,property analysts and a credit analyst to obtain a deeper understanding of the problem. Basedata for the thesis have been collected during meetings, telephone interviews and e-mails.Additional data was collected from public available sources such as the internet, relevantprofessional magazines and professional newsletters. The authors have designed a modelshowing how Income and Balance Sheet statements are influenced by changed valuation ofinvestment property.

Deicing fluids based on Propylene glycol are used at Stockholm Arlanda airport to remove or prevent ice on aircrafts. The high oxygen demand of propylene glycol can cause oxygen depletion in rivers downstream from the airport if not collected. Mass Balance calculations made by Swedavia indicate that the actual amount of gathered propylene glycol is underestimated. Suspicions that propylene glycol is degraded in the stormwatersystem designed to collect deicingfluids, called the B-glycolsystem, have to be investigated in order to establish with certainty that no propylene glycol in other ways leaves the B-glycol system.The purpose of this study was to determine if degradation of propylene glycol is present in the B-glycol system and also to estimate the extent of the degradation. Propylene glycols high biological oxygen demand can cause oxygen depletion in waters downstream from Stockholm Arlanda airport if not collected.

Organisationen har en betydande roll i medarbetarens livspussel. Det finns mycket att vinna för arbetsgivaren genom att hantera problem och finna lösningar som passar den anställde. Studier av hälsofrämjande interventioner på arbetsplatsen visar att bäst resultat uppnås om interventionen riktar sig samtidigt till både individen och organisationen. Syftet med studien var att beskriva kommunanställda chefers uppfattningar av hur en interventionsstudie, som chefernas medarbetare deltagit i, påverkat arbetsplatsen. Studien syftade även till att söka förståelse för chefernas vidare tankar kring hälsofrämjande arbete på organisationsnivå utifrån ett perspektiv där hela vardagen inkluderas.

In the increasing urban environments and the modern societies demands for sustainability there is a challange in planning cities with a Balance between density and a satisfying access of recreational environments. For attractive cities these environments need to be designed to fit every inhabitants? demands and opinions in some way. Increased knowledge and understanding is therefore needed about how different design styles in landscape architecture affect people and the cities. In this bachelor thesis benefits and disadvantages as well as the experience and impact of two fundamental design styles i discussed; naturalistic and formal/abstract design.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka arbetstagares uppfattningar om korttidssjukfrånvaro i relation till anställningsformen och dess arbetsvillkor. För att definiera begreppet arbetsvillkor har Karaseks och Theorells teori gällande krav-kontroll-stöd använts som utgångspunkt.Studien är baserad på nio intervjuer med arbetstagare ur de tre olika anställningsformerna tillsvidareanställda, vikariat och timanställda, som arbetar inom barnomsorgen i Luleå Kommun. Studien visar att de tillsvidareanställdas och timanställdas uppfattningar om korttidssjukfrånvaro påverkades mer av självbilden, såsom att de inte upplever sig själv som en person som stannar hemma vid sjukdom, medan vikarierna å andra sidan påverkades mer av de tankar och känslor som de trodde att medarbetarna hade gällande en eventuell sjukfrånvaro, men framförallt att de kände sig tvungna att stå till förfogande för att inte minska sina möjligheter till ett fortsatt vikariat. Detta visar att arbetstagarnas arbetsvillkor och egna erfarenheter påverkar deras benägenhet att sjukanmäla sig.Gällande upplevelsen av arbetskrav kunde studien visa att de tillsvidareanställda och till viss del även vikarierna upplevde kraven som höga medan de timanställda upplevde kraven som rimliga. De timanställda upplevde stöd från arbetsgivare och medarbetare i större utsträckning än vad vikarierna och till viss del även de tillsvidareanställda gjorde.
