Vid diagnostisering av hjärtsjukdomar används ofta ekokardiografi för kartläggning av hjärtats storlek, funktion och blodflöde. Dessa undersökningar utförs dagligen på Fysiologkliniken vid Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset. Idag sker inmatning av undersökningsvärdena manuellt och sparas i pappersarkiv.Målet med detta projekt var att skapa en databas som tar hand om dessa värden och effektiviserar det dagliga arbetet. Detta projekt är en fortsättning på ett tidigare projekt från 2012, vilket inte kunde avslutas i tid. Databasen har skapats i databasprogrammet FileMaker och har till stor del utformats efter en modifierad version av den kravspecifikation som sattes upp i det tidigare projektet.Projektet resulterade i en databas som för närvarande går under namnet CardioEchoBase (CEB) vilken uppfyller alla de krav som ställdes förutom automatisk importering av värden från ultraljudsmaskiner. .

I fumingverket på Rönnskärsverken utvinns zinkklinker ur slaggen från elugnen. En annan råvara är stålverksstoft. I fumingugnen omvandlas smältans zink- och blyinnehåll till metallånga som oxideras till ett stoft. Stoftet renas i en klinkerugn. Slutprodukten, zinkklinker, som består av 70 - 75 % zink, exporteras till zinksmältverket Norzink i Norge.

The aim of this thesis is to examine how thesauri constructed with latent semantic indexing LSI are performing when used for query expansion. There is a well-known problem with synonymy in information retrieval and one solution to this problem is to use a thesaurus. In this thesis thesauri are created automatically to find statistically related words and not only synonyms. LSI is a method that uses singular value decomposition SVD to reduce dimensions in a matrix and find latent relationships between words. We constructed nine thesauri and used them for query expansion in a Swedish database, GP_HDINF.

ProblemThe manufacturing industry is a mature industry where the profit margins are small and the competition is hard. This makes it hard for both manufacturers and resellers to gain market shares and reach reasonable profit margins only by selling products. Therefore Swecon who is reseller for Volvo Construction Equipment tries to find alternative methods and ways to increase their profit. An alternative source of income could be to develop the range of services that are connected to the ground products.PurposeThe purpose of the thesis is to examine how Swecon in southern Sweden can improve their offers of existing services connected to the ground product and investigate the demand of new such services.MethodThis study is based on a qualitative study of five of Swecons local offices and five of Swecons customers. The empirical framework is mostly based on personal interviews but in some cases information was retrieved by using phone interviews.

Companies financed through borrowed capital are allowed a tax deduction for the costs re-lated to their borrowed capital. A similar tax relief for companies financed through share-holder?s equity does not exist, why these companies are taxed higher than companies fi-nanced by borrowed capital. The result is that there is an asymmetric tax treatment of companies depending on how they are financed.The autumn of 2012, the Swedish government presents a proposal for an investor deduc-tion which seeks to equalize the above mentioned asymmetry. The proposed investor de-duction is a tax relief for investments in shares in a startup- or small company equal to 50 percent of the acquisition cost of that investment.The venture capital deduction, which in this thesis is treated as an alternative to the inves-tor deduction, is an interest-free tax credit which significate that two-thirds of the acquisi-tion cost is deductible from taxation at the time of the acquisition.

Detta arbete är det första steget i en lång process vars slutgiltiga mål är att utveckla en metod för automatisk övergång från en icke-generisk objektorienterad applikation till en generisk.Helst borde stöd för en sådan transformation implementeras i en utvecklingsmiljö, IDE. En analogi skulle kunna dras till faktorisering av klasser, en operation som stöds av de flesta utvecklingsmiljöer idag. Som ett första steg i en pågående process är detta arbete tänkt att fungera som ett icke-trivialt exempel för framtida analys. Exemplet består av ett icke-generisk och ett generisk grafpaket som är skrivet i Java 1.4.2 respektive Java 5.0. When investigating mechanical problems it is often more convenient to deal with scalars rather than vectors. In this project methods stemming from the field of analytical mechanics, which lets one derive the equations of motion using scalar quantities instead of vectors, have been used. Two mechanical problems were investigated, a double pendulum with a spring and particles orbit in a sphere. The equations of motion of the two systems were derived with the assistance of computer algebra, using Maple and the external package Sophia. The systems were investigated with regard to periodicity and conserved quantities..

Övervakningssystem har haft en viktig roll i samhället under en lång period. Syftet med dessa systemen har inte ändrats, det är alltid säkerhetsaspekten som har varit huvudpunkten. Effektiviteten på ett övervakningssystem beror oftast på den mänskliga faktorn, någon måste bearbeta bildflödet som spelas in för att dra definitiva slutsatser. Under senare år har dessa övervakningssystem, i takt med teknologins utveckling, blivit mer intelligenta. Metoder som tillämpar automatisk analysering av en given bild har introducerats, vissa av dessa tekniker har redan hunnit bli en standard. Denna studie ska utveckla en prototyp som använder sig av tekniken och stresstesta för att identifiera eventuella brister.

This master thesis project at KTH is performed in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineeringdepartment at University of Florida (UF). The thesis is a small part of a gas turbine researchproject where a vapour absorption refrigeration system (VARS) and a high pressure regenerativeturbine engine (HPRTE) are integrated together. The main objective is to build a computermodel of the VARS. The computer model is supposed to be used to analyse the off-designperformance of the VARS and should also be easy to integrate as a subroutine in a more complexsystem model. To model the VARS some knowledge of the absorbent/refrigerant mixture had tobe well known, in this case a mixture of ammonia and water.

The financial crisis in 2008, effected companies around the globe and forced them to change their operational strategies, in order to survive. Companies with international links needed to consider external effects and due to that adapt their strategies on a global level. Demands for goods and service were decreasing and companies could only manage the cost during a recession to not face bankruptcy. Organisations need to reconsider their optimal strategy as this will determine their future outcome when managing a crisis as the one in 2008. British Airways - Air Cargo is a global company with an international network which serves about 80 countries, with about 200 destinations.

The purpose of this study was to gain a deeper understanding of teacher´s motives to engage in outdoor education in their teaching. A qualitative approach through interviews was used and a total of eight teachers were interviewed. The result showed that there were several motives to engage in outdoor education. These motives were divided into three main categories which were: to engage in outdoor education from teacher`s interest, to engage in outdoor education based on teacher`s perceptions of children's needs and to engage in outdoor education based on external factors..

This study has examined how teachers in Swedish upper secondary schools work to foster a critical perspective through the education in the subject of Swedish. The study is based on qualitative interviews conducted with three teachers, who have given their views on the role of source criticism and critical analysis of literature in the subject of Swedish. Furthermore, they have described how they incorporate these views into their own teaching.The study has shown that the teachers find that source criticism and literary analysis are interconnected, since both depend on a general critical approach, which they both help foster. The main question the study examined was how Swedish education could help foster a critical perspective. The interviewed teachers' ways of working point out a way: teacher C has integrated source criticism and referencing into most of their education, which makes them central to the education in Swedish.
