WHITE HOUSE/GREEN HOUSE - En processpårande undersökning av klimatfrågan i USA

This thesis examines the process of securitization of the environmental issue in the United States. By using the theories of sectoral security and securitization by Barry Buzan and Ole Waever, commonly known as the Copenhagen school we go beyond the traditional security frames and examine where the environmental issue in the United States stand today within the securitization spectrum. The securitizing spectrum includes three levels in which an issue can be place: non-politicised, politicised and securitized.The problem, which we wish to address, is if there is a movement of the environmental issue in the United States towards becoming a securitized issue. In the light of these circumstances we also wish to explore who is behind the movement and also find out where the issue stand today. We do believe that Al Gore is a securitizing actor and examine his role in the movement of the environmental issueWe have come to the conclusion that there is an ongoing process of securitization in which the environmental issue have moved from being politicised to becoming securitized..

Allmän antibiotikaresistens hos Escherichia coli (E. coli) och förekomsten av Extended Spectrum ?-Lactamases (ESBL) hos enterobakterier samt Vancomycinresistenta enterokocker (VRE) i fekalprover från måsfåglar på Irland

Förekomsten av Extended Spectrum ?-Lactamases (ESBL) och Vancomycinresistenta enterokocker (VRE) har ökat hos gramnegativa bakterier under de senaste åren. Måsfåglar kan användas som biologiska indikatorer för att se prevalensen av antibiotikaresistens i naturen, vilken sedan kan jämföras med den hos humana populationer.Syftet var att med odling av fekalprover på selekterande och differentierande agarplattor analysera det allmänna resistensläget hos Escherichia coli samt analysera förekomst av Extended Spectrum ?-Lactamases hos enterobakterier och Vancomycinresistenta enterokocker i 300 prover från måsar på Irland. För att artbestämma bakterierna utfördes även biokemiska analyser.Den allmänna resistensen analyserades med diskdiffusionstest på Muller-Hintonagarplattor.

En skola för alla? : En skola för elever med autismspektrumtillstånd?En kvalitativ studie som undersöker skolsituationen för elever med autismspektrumtillstånd i en svensk kommun

The overall aim of this case study is to find the conditions for pupils in the nine-year compulsory school with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who are instructed in the ordinary classroom. The study explores what kind of support the schools offer these pupils. The study also examines the views of the teachers´, special educators´, principals´ and municipal representatives on what kind of support these pupils need and ought to be offered.The methods used were qualitative interviews and a questionnaire study.The theoretical basis of the study is the three different perspectives of special pedagogy. These perspectives represent three different views on the disorders of pupils.The overall result shows that the municipality offers little support for schools. The study shows that there is little collaboration between schools and ASD-specific support outside school.

MIMO kanalmodeler

The objective of this diploma work is to investigate a set of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) channel models compatible with the emerging IEEE 802.11n standard. This diploma work validates also advanced, innovative tools and wireless technologies that are necessary to facilitate wireless applications while maximizing spectral efficiency and throughput. MIMO channel models can be used to evaluate new Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) proposals based on multiple antenna technologies. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate means of channel models and their implementation in different environments such as: Matlab, C++ and Advanced Design Systems (ADS). The investigation considers also a comparison between the channel models based on theoretical data and parameter setup to the channel models based on statistical characteristics obtained from measured data.

Är det möjligt att förutsäga utfall av cochleaimplantation hos barn med auditiv neuropati spektrumstörning? ? En litteraturstudie

Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD) is a collective term for a specific form of hearing loss within a heterogeneous population of patients with mutual audiological test-profile. Cochlear implantation in children with ANSD has been found to result in good outcomes. Previous research, however, has shown the existence of a subgroup of children with ANSD who do not benefit from cochlear implantation but instead are in need of alternative methods of communication. The aim of this literature review was to examine the possibilities to predict outcomes of cochlear implantation in children with ANSD by pre-, intra- or postoperative examinations/measurements and thereby evaluate in which cases cochlear implantation is an appropriate intervention within this group of patients. The material consisted of 10 scientific papers published between 2007-2014.

Determination of anthelmintic resistance of Haemonchus contortus to three classes of anthelmintics in a Kenyan sheep flock based on results from faecal egg count reduction test

Haemonchus contortus is the most important bloodsucking gastrointestinal nematode in small ruminants worldwide. It is often controlled by anthelmintics. Even though other methods to control are available, the most efficient way to treat an animal with clinically manifested haemonchosis is to use one of the available broad spectrum anthelmintics: benzimidazoles (BZ), macrocyclic lactones (ML) or imidothiazoles-tetrahydropyromidines or the narrow spectrum drugs salisylanilides or nitrophenols. Anthelmintic resistance (AR) against all groups of anthelmintics in nematode parasites has been reported from many countries, and even multiple AR has been observed. In this study I have investigated the resistance levels to all major classes of broad spectrum anthelmintics in a naturally infected flock of sheep of Red Maasai sheep (RM), Dorper sheep (D) and their offsprings on a research farm in Kenya.

Inkludering och autismspektrumtillstånd : En studie där personer med diagnos berättar om sina egna upplevelser av skolan

AbstractThis study examines factors in school that could contribute to or counteract the experience of inclusion of persons who have been diagnosed in the field of autism spectrum disorder. The information was gathered through qualitative interviews and processed to be presented in the results.The results show that respondents found it difficult to concentrate when in school because of the environment. They experienced no coherence in learning situations, they may not get answer as to why information should be carried out and saw no point to have breaks. Furthermore, they experienced no problems to orientate in school or to follow the schedule. The results also revealed that the respondents had at least one teacher with whom they felt that the relationship was positive.

Framgångsfaktorer i integrationen av elever med särskilda behov i den allmänna skolan

The purpose of this paper is to identify and analyze success factors in the integration of students with special needs in regular schools. This will be done through the case study of a nine year old autistic student in a small town public school ? a fairly representative case for the Swedish school system. The data collection methods used in the paper are; three participant observations of the student, and a qualitative interview with two of the student?s teachers.

Most pupils who are capable to profit from the training in a normal class and pass their examination, shall go in a normal class. The greater part of the recommended adjustments are possible to do in a normal class. But it requires more resourses and teachers with better knowledges about theese handicaps..

Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur pedagoger arbetar och lägger upp verksamheten i förskolan för att stödja och stimulera autistiska barn. Studien skrivs utifrån pedagogers perspektiv då pedagogens kompetens spelar en stor roll i arbetet med barn med autism och deras utveckling. Vanlig tarmbakterie som Escherichia coli (E. coli) kan bland annat orsaka infektioner i bukhålan och urinvägsinfektioner. Infektioner orsakade av bakterien har ofta behandlats med betalaktamantibiotika, som penicilliner och cefalosporiner, vilket har resulterat i selektion av antibiotikaresistenta bakterier. Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases (ESBL) är enzymer som hydrolyserar 3:e generationens cefalosporiner som cefotaxim, ceftazidim och ceftriaxon, men kan även bryta ner penicilliner, monobaktamer och övriga cefalosporiner. Studies show that some pupils with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) can have difficulties in understanding written texts. The present study seeks to examine whether pupils with ASD differ in their reading comprehension of a factual text and a literary text. Another aim of the study is to obtain a picture of the reading habits of high school pupils with ASD, what reading strategies they use, and how they work with texts in Swedish lessons in school.The study uses texts from PISA surveys from 2009 and 2000. The factual text Varmluftsballongen (The Hot-air Balloon) was taken from the try-out for the 2009 survey and the literary text Gåvan (The Gift) was taken from the 2000 PISA survey. To gain some idea of the pupils? reading comprehension of the texts, the present study used the tasks accompanying the texts, with certain changes in the questions about the text on the hot-air balloon.

Arbetsterapeuters upplevelse av hur TEACCH bidrar till aktivitet och delaktighet hos personer med autism

Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH) är ett habiliterings och undervisningsprogram för personer med autism. Huvudsyftet inom programmet är att minska avståndet mellan individens kapacitet och omgivningens krav för att få personen så delaktig i samhället som möjligt. Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur arbetsterapeuter upplever att olika faktorer inom TEACCH bidrar till aktivitet och delaktighet hos personer med autism. Undersökningen var en kvalitativ intervjustudie där fem arbetsterapeuter i Skåne deltog. Vid databearbetning valdes en teoristyrd analysmetod.
