The Area around the stream Orsundaan, which runs trough the valley Harsbacksdalen, is famous for its beautiful landscape. The upper Area of Orsundaan and Harsbacksdalen is situated just south of Heby in Uppland, Sweden. Even though the Area is protected by different nature conservation acts, it is difficult to find any information about the geodiversity in the Area. Geodiversity, or geological and geomorphological diversity, includes the concepts of geoprocesses and geoelements. Very high geodiversity could be seen at an inventory of the geomorphology in the upper Area of Orsundaan and Harsbacksdalen.

Castration coverage and attitudes towards a castration program in Lilongwe, Malawi

The aim of this study was to measure the castration coverage and the attitudes among people towards castration in an Area in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, where a castration program has been running for a few years. Another aim was to review the literature to examine the link between castration coverage and rabies prevalence. Two Areas (Area 25 and Area 23) in Lilongwe were studied through standardized household interviews. In Area 25, a non-governmental organization had been castrating dogs weekly to twice weekly for free for 3 years. In Area 23, no official organization had done castrations, and this Area therefore acted as a control in the study.

A proposal of a new path from the inner town of Gävle to a small cultural Area in the seaside. The thesis contains historical background, analysis over town and the Area, and a proposal of a new shape for the postindustrial Area near the stream called Gavleån. .

Muddring i Ireån : indirekta effekter på bottenfaunan nedströms

This research aims to investigate the effects that dredging may have on benthic fauna. The dredging took place in the stream Ireån on northern Gotland during the early summer 2010. My Area of research was taking place in a scenic Area downstream in Ireån close to the Baltic Sea. I chose this Area due to the dredging that started just upstream of this Area and continued further upstream. Thus it is not the direct impact of the dredging that is the focus for this paper but the side-effect the dredging may have on the Area downstream.

Industrilandskapet is an Area in central Norrköping who has undergone major changes during the 1900s. The Area has in recent decades gone from being an important industrial Area into a place that today is focused on knowledge production and visit activities. This study focuses on how four selected businesses in Norrköping look at the change that Industrilandskapet has undergone. The four businesses all have in common that they use and care of Industrilandskapet in both marketing and as a working place. The businesses are in this study represented by four informants who were interviewed with semi-structured interviews. The results from the informants are analyzed by support of theoretical points.

Stanna. Flytta.

A great importance for the future of municipalize is the ability to attract and retain the younger part of the population.  For the Tärnaby Area (a famous tourist resort for alpine skiing), a part of the Storuman municipality, this is a problem, and with a possible mining establishment job opportunities will be provided. In this study I have examined how young adults related to the Tärnaby Area have reasoning about stay or move from the Area and what may get them to move back. What is the Area´s place identity and is it attractive for the respondents? Can a mining establishment change the negative population trend? The results showed that the respondent have a strong connection to the Area and the identity of the place. A large proportion of the respondents indicated that they wanted to move back to the Area of Tärnaby, if it was possible, due to work-related causes and social relations at existing place of residence. The respondents approach for a potential mining establishment is both of positive and negative sense.  However, a mining establishment is considered by the respondents to be of great importance for the future of the Tärnaby Area..

Green-urban balance : a proposal for balancing green area preservation and urban development in the city of Uppsala

Rapid urbanization causes competition over land use between green Area preservation and urban development in cities and greatly affects ecosystems as well as human well-being. This conflict is significant all around the world as many cities are now replacing existing green Areas with new developments. The Area around Dag Hammarskjöld's väg in Uppsala is currently experiencing the same conflict, as the need that the city has for new housing represents a threat for the many valuable green Areas that are in the site. The purpose of this project was to understand how the need of urban development and the preservation of green Areas could be balanced. This understanding would thereafter be used to make a design proposal for the Area around Dag Hammarskjöld's väg.

?Street prostitution, why there?? is about how the physical planning and physical environment affect the localization of street prostitution in Gothenburg. The aim is to increase the understanding of how social security is linked to man's immediate environment and are influenced by the physical environment. Important concepts that are explained in the paper are social security, prostitution, and physical planning. This study deals with theories about the factors that may influence why criminality localized to a specific Area, such as legislation, urban planning and community. The study conducted interviews with the Gothenburg Police, Västra Götaland County Administrative Board, Gothenburg City, Stadsmissionen and Mikamottagningen.

Helandet av Stockholms sår : En analys av projektet Västra City

Over the years, what people have considered as the center of Stockholm City has gone from the medieval Stortorget in Old Town to the contemporary Sergels Torg. But more recently it has become unclear how the Area really works. It is difficult to say where the actual central part of Stockholm lies, because while the Central Station is where the majority of people arrive into town, it is not necessarily close to Sergelstorg (considered the center of town) or other attractive commercial Areas. There's also another issue with where the center of Stockholm is located. The railways and roads running along Klarabergs Viaduct acts as a divide between the Areas of Kungsholmen and Norrmalm; these rails, roads and water separate the two Areas from each other. In response to this problem of Area division, a plan is being made to construct a new district near the center to mend the gap between the districts. The idea is that the center of Stockholm city will become more lively and attractive. The plan includes building new housing, commercial Areas and a larger terrace called Mälarterrassen. In addition, improved mobility within the Area is being planned by having better public transportation lines like City banan and tram named Spårväg City construction, as well as more pedestrian Areas shall make the Area become a district to thrive in.How the Area will actually operate in the future is still unclear and many questions still exist about how the Area will be able to compete and, above all, integrate with the other districts. The parts considered to be most important for the Area is the scale of residential property and an attractive Area that keeps people in the Area and to encourages them to pass through the Area. Perhaps the best solution would be to have something special planned in this Area that can attract people in the community ? a city park, for example?.

Etnisk boendesegregation : En kvalitativ studie om etnisk boendesegregation i Nybro ur ett postkolonialt perspektiv

A refugee reception has been placed in Kungshall, one of Nybros residential Areas. The Area has a bad reputation and there are arguably prejudices about the Area from the local population. I therefore want to investigate if an ethnic residential segregation exists in Kungshall, from a postcolonial perspective. The following research questions have been formulated: How do residents who doesn?t live in the refugee reception, look at ethnic residential segregation in Nybro? How has Kungshall changed since the refugee reception? Does a cultural racism exist in Kungshall? The study is a qualitative study using semi structured interviews of four people living in the residential Area, a person who has moved out of the Area and a person working on the housing corporation ?Nybro bostads AB?, who is one of the housing corporation responsible for the residential Area Kungshall.

The Area of Lycksabäcken northwest of Lycksele is a national interest of natural conservationbecause of its geological values with many unique landforms. Many of these landforms indicatethat the deglaciation process in the Area was very complex. However, the deglaciation process inthe Area has not previously been fully understood. The aim is to add to the knowledge of theevents that took place during the last deglaciation. To do this, the glaciofluvial landforms in theArea were mapped by studying aerial photographs with a Wild Aviopreter and a five-day fieldinventory of key Areas for the interpretation.

There are lots of theories about participatory democracy, but rather few examples of how to create it in practice. In the 1930´s, scientists at the Chicago School, implemented some projects within the Chicago Area Project, with the aim to decrease the youth delinquency in the socio disadvantaged Areas surrounding Chicago. In this thesis, I assess wether these projects, and in particular the one at the Russell Square Area, have some common features with the thoughts of two of the most famous participatory democrats, Carole Pateman and Benjamin Barber. My question is if the Chicago Area Project could be seen as an experiment in participatory democracy. I find that participatory democrats could benefit from the experiences of the Chicago Area Project.
