Efter murens fall ändrades den amerikanska maritima fokusering från att verka på öppet hav till att verka mer i de litorala områdena runt om i världen. Denna inriktning har föranlett införande av nya system vilket i sig föranlett en debatt främst inom den amerikanska flottan huruvida detta är relevant.Syftet med uppsatsen är att analysera hur fokusering på det litorala området uppstod och vilka konsekvenser detta medförde genom att studera hur fokuseringen formulerades i strategiska dokument och koncept.                Resultatet visar på en strategisk strävan till hegemoni inom den amerikanska marinen. Detta har inte fullt lyckats då det spåras en Antagonism kopplad till kampen om resurser och skillnader i identiteter. Uppsatsen visar på att inställningen till att verka i den litorala miljön skiljer sig åt mellan flottan och marinkåren där flottan uppfattar att verka litoralt är farligt och kommer att ge förluster medan marinkåren identifierar farorna men uppfattar miljön som sitt naturliga verkansområde..

Efter att ett debattinlägg undertecknat av Sverigedemokraternas partiledare publicerades i Aftonbladet i oktober 2009 började allt mer av mediernas utrymme att ägnas åt Sverigedemokraterna. Bland annat diskuterades vad som var lämpliga debattämnen när Sverigedemokraterna skulle bemötas.Syftet med denna undersökning är att undersöka vad dessa diskussioner kan ha för effekter på Sverigedemokraternas eventuella fram- eller motgång och vad detta innebär för det politiska klimatet. Fyra av de största dagstidningarna i Sverige har legat till grund för en diskursanalys. Analysen producerade sex teman debatten, samarbete, värderingar, verktyg, historia, och väljarna.Studien präglas av ett perspektiv som fokuserar på hegemonier och antagonistiska relationer. Vilket resulterade i upptäckten av ett antagonistiskt förhållande mellan Sverigedemokraterna och de etablerade politiska aktörerna.

This essay is a discourse and a feminist theoretical analysis that focuses on the alternative discourse that we consider Feminist Initiative to be constitutive of. Our theoretical stance, with base in Laclau and Mouffes discourse theory, builds on the notion that reality is characterised by conflicts between different competing discursive formations and that the social is an endless struggle over the preferential right of interpretation of meaning. More specifically, the essay focuses on the discursive struggle over the meaning of the term politics. It is our understanding that the dominant perception of politics necessarily excludes other understandings, which can according to Eduards, be explained as a consequence of a patriarchal distribution of power that renders the subordination of certain understandings of politics accordingly. Feminist Initiative, as an alternative discourse, can therefore be perceived as a threat to the dominating discourse of politics, which in order to maintain its preferential right of interpretation seek to illegitimatise and depoliticise the politics that the alternative discourse represents.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to identify and describe thedifferent roles that are expressed in a public library by researchingthem in the four policy documents concerning Västerås public libraryin 2010 and by interviews with three specially chosen key persons.Further studied are the discourses that can be perceived in thematerial and whether or not the roles could come in conflict witheach other. Laclau and Mouffes discursive theory constitutes themethodical frame for this thesis and by using terms from discursivetheory the analysis was made in four steps.Seven roles were identified from the policy documents concerningVästerås public library and the interviews with the key persons. Thefirst role of the public library was the intermediary of knowledge andinformation, the second was viewed as a democratic role, the third asa marketing role, the fourth as a role that handled the collaboration,the fifth role was to improve literacy, and the sixth and seventh roleswere as a culture centre and a meeting place. With the help fromkeywords five major discourses were found within the material.

This thesis examines the Swedish Democrats relationship to an islamophobic worldview. The party developed from the racist party Bevara Sverige Svenskt (Keep Sweden Swedish) and is today the third largest party in Sweden, which gives them a powerful position in the society. It is therefore important to investigate their view on minorities, and in this case Muslims. In this thesis I examine the Swedish Democrat?s material during the election campaign the years of 2006, 2010 and 2014 using Ernesto Laclau?s and Chantal Mouffe?s discourse theory.

Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka och analysera hur HR:s identitet konstrueras diskursivt i facktidningen Personal & Ledarskap. Vi undersöker också vilka motsättningar och spänningar som synliggörs och osynliggörs i Personal & Ledarskap, kopplat till HRs identitet, och hur dessa kan förstås utifrån diskursteori. En utgångspunkt tas delvis i Johan Berglunds (2002) forskning om personalspecialister och deras kamp för erkännande och status samt hur de arbetar med sin identitet utifrån olika retoriska positioner. Vår studie genomförs 10-15 år senare än Berglunds och ger därmed viktiga insikter i hur HR:s identitetsarbete ser ut i facktidningen Personal & Ledarskap idag. Uppsatsen utgår från diskursanalys och diskursteori och undersöker hur HR:s identitet konstrueras i textavsnitt från bland annat notiser, intervjuer och krönikor där HR:s roll behandlas.

This thesis discusses the attitudes versus methadone assisted rehabilitation ad modum Dole Nyswander in Sweden during the period 1972-2004. This is done by means of a Foucault inspired discourse analysis applied on the directions issued by the Board of Health and Social Affairs. The context in which these directions were created is also described, in which scientific achievements on methadone treatments during the period, and the main actors struggling to establish and define the discourse on narcotics and narcomania, are juxtaposed to the effects of the work of the Board. It is stated that the directions were largely affected not by scientific results and knowledge on methadone, but by the symbolic connotations of narcotics in Sweden established in the discourse already in the mid 1960´s. Also during the end of the studied period, after the occurence of AIDS had begun making methadone more broadly accepted, the findings of this thesis showed that the legacy of the 1970´s symtomtheory and its severe Antagonism against methadone, was still present, in effect, in the discourse around methadone and subutex assisted rehabilitation, and so in the directions issued by the Board of Health and Social Affairs..

Syftet med analysen har varit att undersöka vilken mening det mångskiftande begreppet jämställdhet får under valrörelserna 2002 och 2006 samt vilka förändringar som har skett. Undersökningen har gjorts genom diskursanalys av partiernas valplattformar från de båda valrörelserna. Med feministisk teori som teoretiskt ramverk har vi analyserat de feministiska diskurser som för en kamp om att fylla jämställdhet med mening och analyserat den förändring som skett. Vårt huvudsakliga resultat är att jämställdhetens mening i båda valrörelserna konstrueras kring Gränsen mellan det privata och offentliga, Våld och Könsmaktsordning eller diskriminering? ? och att det är inom dessa områden som kampen om betydelse förs.

Ända sedan det kalla krigets slut har diskursen om den liberala demokratin varit hegemonisk. Det, menar vi, har skapat en osund situation där demokratins utformning och innehåll inte längre diskuteras. Därför har vi valt att undersöka den globala rättviserörelsens demokrativision, den enda som idag skulle kunna representera ett legitimt alternativ till den liberala demokratin. Eftersom det är en ostrukturerad grupp av diverse organisationer, rörelser och aktivister är det svårt att nå fram till en samlad vision. Vår analys bygger huvudsakligen på World Social Forums ?Charter of Principles?, en samling grundläggande principer som bildar en gemensam grund för alternativa politiska forum.

After the fall of communism in Yugoslavia the ethnic resentment grew stronger and escalated in to interethnic civil conflict in 1992. After international intervention the General Framework Agreement for Peace (GFAP) installed peace in 1995. The treaty's aim was not only to establish peace but also to institute democracy in Bosnia. The OSCE were given the task to implement democracy within political institutions and civil society. This in a country with a lack of democratic experience and where great problems with ethnic Antagonism still exists.By using democratization and transition theory this single case-study examines how democracy is implemented in Bosnia by the OSCE and clarifies difficulties that this democratization process is facing.

Sweden has a long tradition of collecting documents by way of a process of legal deposit of copies. Its aim is to ensure the availability of material for research, cultural preservation and citizens? right to free information. New forms of publications, made possible by technical advances, are not accommodated in the traditional deposit submission criteria. Certain information accordingly risks being lost.

Debates about suitable content in children's literature occur regularly. In spring 2010 such a debate took place in Sweden. The purpose of this Bachelor's thesis is to analyse the debate to identify ideas concerning the role of children's literature in society. A second aim is to examine how children's literature is described and which concepts are used by the debaters. The empirical material used for the analysis consists of ten articles, blog posts, radio- and TV- features published in March 2010.

A mapping process is ongoing in Sweden concerning a phenomenon known as ?honour related violence?. The explanations of ?honour related violence? often focus on culture and ethnicity, thus establishing differences between the majority society and offenders and victims. Given that some scholars critique mapping for focusing on predetermined objects, my aim is to study discursive conditions for abused girls, who are constructed as being from within ethnic minorities, in relation to their contact with the Swedish welfare system.

The aim of this master's thesis is to describe the role of language and culture as ethnical identification factors and illustrate how these have been used as political weapons by the Serb regime in Kosovo during the last decade. The thesis discusses the concept of ethnicity, the relations between the politics of identity, nationalism, ethnic mobilization and the importance of language and culture. Kosovo has historically been characterized by severe ethnic Antagonism between Serbs and Albanians. Different languages, cultures and religions beside political processes led to ethnic cleavages that paved the way for ethnocentrism, ethnonationalism, chauvinism, ethnic cleansing and civil war. Since 1989, the Serbian authorities have intervened in all important spheres of life, in an attempt to Serbianize Kosovo.

The aim of this paper is to examine the youth library PUNKTmedis' work methods to adapt itself to the youth. Improved communication with this user group is the starting point for the new work methods. We have chosen to view the increased cooperation between the library and the youth as an adjustment to market demands. We have noticed the possible existence of an Antagonism between on the one hand the traditional role of the public library of adult education and on the other hand an adjustment to the market demands. Adult education and the adjustment to market demands is seen as contributing to the image of PUNKTmedis.
