This essay examines how age, power and agency is represented and reproduced in contemporary Swedish picture books.This is done through a combination of discourse analysis and literary analysis.It uses theoretical perspectives from sociology, and views childhood as a social construct. It sees discourse and language use as both representing and constructing social reality in the tradition of Norman Fairclough and critical discourse analysis. The main results is that the discourses of childhood in the material construct children as a separate group in society, and childhood as a special time in life. The debate regarding the relationship between state sovereignty and the protection of the hu-man rights was at its peak during the 1990?s. Never again the world wanted to witness the atrocities committed in Rwanda, but at the same time some states argued in favor of a strict interpretation of the principle of state sovereignty and non-intervention. In 2001, ICISS was created ? a commission with the aim to find consensus in the question of how the world should respond to mass atrocities committed by a state against their own people.

The objective of this project is to study how two asperger units, one at a junior school and one at a senior-level school are carrying at their work. I have interviewed one pedagouge at each unit to find out how they organize the education at the units and how they work to develop the students' social skills based on the students' functional handicap. The interviews showed that the following factors are providing the foundation for the pedagouges' work with the students: knowledge of the Asperger syndrome and the symptoms shown by each individual, the pedagouges being explicit and well structured as a professional and as adult combined with him/her being humble and showing respect towards the students and self reflection.Keywords: Asperger syndrome, functional handicap, social interaction, attitude..

When discussing local development attention is often given to the problems involved. Factors like decreasing population and inadequate infrastructure are two examples. Local politics has, however, lately been argued to have possibilities to affect its own development and its chances to achieve growth. Some of the most important factors from this debate are to make a community attractive for people and companies, committed leadership, the local business world with entrepreneurialism and a good business climate. These factors serve as a starting point for this discussion where focus is on the possibilities to achieve growth on the local level and the politics that is used for this purpose.To illustrate the chances to affect local growth I apply the theoretical perspective of regime theory and thereby examine the governing coalitions "power to" govern and not "power over" as the earlier theoretical perspectives in the area.

In the post Cold-War era, world politics was transforming itself through its emerging complex issues such as terrorism and influential and interdependent actors such as the European Union. In this new era, the European Union was developing its Common Foreign and Security Policy pillar both to present a coherent and unified EU policy and to prove its political potent in order to become an influential actor on world politics. On the other side, security environment was also transforming its content through emerging actors and issues. As one of the most prominent actors of the world politics, the EU was influenced by the transformation of security environment, whose economic ?soft power? proved necessary but insufficient for being a global power in this emerging security environment.

AbstractIntroductionOccurrence of bacteraemia and fungemia is a serious condition with high mortality and the incidence is increasing worldwide. The aim of this study was to survey the occurrence of bacteria and fungi in blood cultures from adult patients domiciled in the county of Gävleborg during one year and also to calculate the incidence and mortality in the same geographical area.MethodThis is a descriptive epidemiologic study, based on all episodes of blood cultures analyzed at the Microbiology laboratory, Gävle hospital during 2005. Patients from 20 years of age, domiciled in the county of Gävleborg at the date of drawing the blood culture, where included in the study. Criteria of exclusion were negative blood cultures and cultures which were classified as contaminants.ResultsAltogether there were 4 564 blood cultures analyzed, resulting in 524 (11 %) positive cultures for further study. There were 442 patients (48 % women) involved in 499 episodes with confirmed bacteraemia or fungemia.

The purpose of this essay has been to seek understanding of how young people in high school and adult education experience the use of educational media tools in teaching. Examples of questions submitted material has been: What are the positive and negative experiences of ICT in the classroom?The essay is of a qualitative nature, in which five students were interviewed about their experiences of ICT in the school environment. The result is analyzed from a sociocultural perspective and from an inward-student perspective.The results showed that students felt that it was difficult to absorb many of the ICT facilities as sources of knowledge in the school environment. Det politiska uppdraget för Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) i Finland är att bedriva programverksamhet som erbjuder ett mångsidigt utbud av fakta, åsikter och diskussion samt utveckla inhemsk konst, kultur och stimulerande underhållning. Yle ska behandla den finskspråkiga och den svenskspråkiga befolkningen på lika grunder. Under många år samsände Yles svenska och finska verksamhet. Först 2001 fick de svenskspråkiga programmen en egen kanal, FST5 och från den 1 september 2011 delar Sveriges Televisions utlandskanal SVT World kanalplats med FST5. Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur det svenskspråkiga programutbudet i Yle utvecklats mellan 1986 och 2011 med utgångspunkt från public serviceuppdraget.

The aim of this essay is to examine what happens when Veronica Roths Divergent-trilogy is read with a lutheran theological pre-understanding. Using reader-response theory and lutheran theology written for and in a post-modern context, three lutheran figures of thought are presented as one way of understanding the trilogy. The conclusion is that it is possible to reveal lutheran ideas concerning justification, guilt, forgiveness, mercy and self-sacrificing love in the Divergent-story. .

Because of this, the urban areas have become an important part in the debate about the effects on the environment and sustainability. The vision for the district is to become a world class sustainable city based on the three dimensions of sustainable development: social, economic and ecologic. Uppsatsen behandlar översättningen av de fem första kapitlen i Rapt à Bamako, som är ett autentiskt översättningsuppdrag och som kommer att publiceras av Bokförlaget Trasten under hösten 2010. En översättningsprincip för det aktuella uppdraget har bestämts utifrån översättningens förutsättningar, bestående av teoretisk bakgrund, måltextens syfte och kontext, genomgång av referenstexter samt en stilstudie av källtexten. Det framkommer att den kontextuella och lexikala nivån var de som gav upphov till mest svårigheter under översättningsarbetet, men att en stor del av de problematiska översättningsfrågorna kunde lösas med hjälp av översättningsprincipen i fråga..

När en spelstudio ska designa ett dataspel är det viktigt att veta hur konsumenten, det vill säga spelaren, kommer att spela spelet. Därför är det avgörande att genomföra speltester och samla in digital information för att få en så klar bild som möjligt över hur en spelare interagerar när denne spelar. En viktig sak för utvecklaren är att försöka få spelaren att investera sig själv i spelet, både emotionellt samt med sin tid. Syftet med vår undersökning är att försöka ta reda på vilket sätt spelutvecklare kan förutse och kontrollera hur en spelare skall spela ett datorspel. Vi har valt att göra denna undersökning på en specifik spelstudio samt på ett specifikt spel.

Studiens syfte var att belysa vuxenstuderandes upplevelser av att göra en lärstilsanalys samt beskriva dess betydelse för lärandet. Vår avsikt var också att fokusera på deras åsikter om den information de fått innan analysen och det uppföljande samtalet med läraren. Vi ville även belysa de vuxenstuderandes tankar kring användbarheten av att göra lärstilsanalyser. Kvalitativa intervjuer genomfördes med sju vuxenstuderande på omvårdnadsprogrammet, förlagt till en mindre ort i södra Sverige. Det framkom att de vuxenstuderandes upplevelser av att göra en lärstilsanalys i huvudsak var positiva, trots att flertalet inte hade förändrat sitt sätt att lära i någon större utsträckning.
