The purpose of this essay has been to find out how Adolescents from Södermöre in the municipality of Kalmar experience the central place Kalmar. It has also been the intention to make clear, whether the relation between the Adolescents and the central place Kalmar could be described as a centre-periphery-relation. The basis of this essay has been interviews of all together nine Adolescents.A centre-periphery-situation can according to the theory be discovered by analyzing three categories: culture, economy and politics. If the centre dominates the periphery in one of these three categories, a centre-periphery-situation exists. The theory also says that the people living in the periphery experience less kinship with the people living in the centre.The Adolescents from Södermöre showed to experience the central place Kalmar in a way, that can be described in five categories: travelling mostly by bus, unfair distribution of the resources of the municipality, political equality, social equality and the awareness of the central place Kalmar as the place ?where everything is located?.When it came to economy and politics, no indications of a centre-periphery-situation were found during the interviews with the Adolescents.

This study's main objective was to identify Adolescents participation in alternative sport activities and which kind of physical activity that was preferred by Adolescents who didn't had any earlier experience of sport clubs. The study combined interviews and surveys with the purpose to get both Adolescents and sport leaders perspective. A total of five interviews were performed and fifty-four surveys was collected. The results showed that Adolescents already physical active were those who participated in alternative sport activities. Who participate in alternative sport activities can depend on habitus, comprehended capital forms and in which social field the sport activities exists..

The purpose of our study is to describe and understand whether, and if so, how social workers in school and in social services construct computer gaming Adolescents as a social problem. We chose social workers who encounter Adolescents with different problems. We have conducted qualitative interviews with vignettes to capture the social workers' reasoning about computer gaming Adolescents and how they handle this in their work. The study shows that all social workers we interviewed had encountered Adolescents with troubling computer gaming habits. In the study, all agree that computer gaming becomes a problem when it leads to deviant behaviour such as not going to school, staying up all night and so on.

The aim of this essay is to examine different discourses concerning Adolescents and library youth services that can be identified in the material. 73 articles from the Swedish library journal, Biblioteksbladet, were analysed trough a model. The different articles were all published between 1916 and 2005. The analysis revealed a result that consists of four discourses about Adolescents and youth services at different libraries between 1916 and 2005: the library as fostering discourse, a new era discourse, the visiting activities discourse and the young adult discourse. The library as fostering discourse is based on the idea that the library itself doesnt need to change the service to Adolescents, instead the Adolescents are supposed to change into good library users.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare equations used to calculate BMR to values of BMR obtained from measurements in order to determine the most suitable equation to be used on children and Adolescents with CF.Design: The participants where children and Adolescents with CF. Data was collected from the division of Clinical Nutrition at Uppsala Akademiska Sjukhus. Age, weight, height, BMI, BMR, FFM and FM was recorded from 27 measurements. BMR from the participants collected from the indirect respiratory calorimetry was compared to the results obtained from five equations used to obtain a calculated value of BMR.Results: Tverskayas equation was best correlated with the measured BMR for the whole group. The equation underestimated BMR for the participants with a measured BMR over 1400 kcal/24h and overestimated BMR for participants with a measured BMR under 1400 kcal/24h.

The mental health has during the recent years decreased among Swedish Adolescents while theinternet has become a common tool for communication between people. Aim: The overall aim is toidentify the relationship between internet use among Adolescents and their mental health. Method:A literature based study within a defined research field. Suicide is the ultimate outcome of mental illness and is a big and serious problem in society. About 1500 persons commit every year suicide in Sweden and many more engage in suicidal behaviour. This review aims at, from research studies from the 21th century, find out the knowledge of riskfactors regarding the risk for committing suicide among Adolescents. The research questions are: What does research say, from a psychobiological perspective, about riskfactors among Adolescents regarding the risk for suicidal behaviour? How much does genetic factors have an effect on the risk for suicidal behaviour among Adolescents? and : What is the importance of environmental factors such as family connections, friends and school environment concerning suicidal thoughts among Adolescents?The method that is used in order to answer these questions is a researchreview including ten research-studies.

This study aims to investigate, describe and discuss the views of a group of Adolescents on their identity and the process of second language acquisition. They all came to Sweden and started studying in Swedish schools in the last three years without any knowledge of the Swedish language.The study has been conducted with respect to the Adolescents own perspectives and what they consider important.The methods used are group discussions/ interviews, observations in class and informal discussions with teachers and Adolescents.Their voices are described and discussed in this paper. Looking into how social identities may be constructed or communicated from the Adolescents voices and looking in to their use of language the study reveals that several expectations and situations need? to be met by different identities.

The purpose of this essay is to investigate which components previous scientific studies suggest that an efficient treatment for Adolescents with behavioural problems should contain. For this purpose, an extensive review of scientific research conducted in Scandinavia has been read and will be presented in this essay. This essay also present an introduction to residential care in Sweden as well as to an alternative form of treatment for Adolescents with behavioural problems called Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC). The result of this essay suggest that treatment of Adolescents with behavioural problems should be based on the emphasis of risk/resilience factors of the youth and that the treatment should be adapted to the youth?s individual personality and way of learning.

The aim of the study was to explore the psychological well-being of a group of Adolescents in relation to how they regarded achieving in school, in a gender perspective. Twenty semi-structured interviews were conducted with students aged 17-19 at a high-achieving school in a big city in Sweden. The interviews were analyzed thematically and the results showed that the Adolescents acted differently as well as regarded achieving in school differently depending on gender. The young women were driven by ambition, they were high-achieving and planning for the future. The young men cared less about achieving and thought more about the present.

The aim of this study was to describe the mental and social causes to obesity among children and Adolescents, their consequences and what preventive interventions that are used. The method used by the authors was to search for scientific articles in the database Medline, using the keywords: obesity, overweight, child, body image, social, family, school, depression, nursing, quality of life, social support, prevention and support. The study was performed as a literature review, with a descriptive design, and the result contained 22 scientific articles. The main result of this study showed that obesity among children and Adolescents is not only an individual problem, it affects the whole family. The main causes to obesity among children and Adolescents are the socioeconomic status of the family, their lifestyle, and even gender to a certain degree.
