The objective of the study is to map the cognitive structure of Library and Information Science, using a quantitative, bibliometric method. This empirical study shows how co-citation analysis combined with word-frequency analysis can be used to describe the subject content of the field. The research questions to be answered are: -Which clusters of authors can be identified? -How can these clusters be described in respect of their subject content, if the descriptors associated with the authors in the clusters are counted? The results show that the cognitive structure of Library and Information Science can be described by 13 clusters of authors, where each cluster is representing a specific aspect of the subject- domain. This master thesis was a continuation of a previous study in the diesel exhaust characterization, which is part of the academical work embedded in the EMIR-1 project. The main objective of this thesis work was to finish the installation and make the proper modifications of the particulate mass measuring system located in one of the engine test cells at KTH, in order to be able to measure the mass of the particles from the exhaust of diesel engines.This experiment requires a diluted flow sample from the exhaust that should be sent to the device that makes possible the measurement of particle mass, called TEOM. In the first stage of this project, the objective was to study and make the proper modifications in the existing KTH diluter because there were several problems to obtain a constant dilution ratio from it during tests.This modifications were made and it resulted in a great improvement in the maximum inlet and outlet flow that this diluter can handle. Therefore another modification is proposed for controlling the inlet exhaust flow so it will be possible to regulate the dilution ratio and make it constant along a wide range of engine loads and speeds.The second and most important stage was to make particulate mass measurements possible by analyzing the frequency signal from the TEOM device. The idea was to obtain the frequency of oscillation from the tapered element in the TEOM, and therefore with the proper correlations, be able to predict the particulate mass concentration in the exhaust flow from the engine.An electrical problem in the TEOM circuit was detected and corrected, so the signal that carries the frequency from the TEOM can be analyzed properly.

This study concerns art education, and the importance of creativity in learning. The objective is to examine the use of art education in practice, and the school teacher?s position on this practice.The theoretical basis of the study is rooted in a socio-cultural perspective, and concerns the relationships between theoretical concepts as learning, knowledge and art education.The investigation is qualitative and the main research methods are participant observations and structured interviews.The group studied in this investigation consisted of five active educators, who work at different schools and make use of art-based methods in their daily work.My results show that teachers believe that art education can be used by schools as a gateway to the other subjects. Art is regarded as a form of understanding through which pupils explore their surroundings, challenge their ideas and build skills through interaction with others..

The objective of this project was to develop an application for mobile phones using the Android operating system. The main goal was, with the help of GPS, to pinpoint locations, measure distance traveled and illustrate the progress on a map. Functionalities for just showing the map, fetching addresses and saving to a database was also implemented. The result of the work was a proper application, called MeasureApp, that fulfills the goals set in the planning stages of the project. MeasureApp can be used to measure distances where accuracy is not a main factor, i.e walks or runs.

Depression är en sjukdom där forskarna inte är överens om dess uppkomst. Forskning tyder på att depression år 2020 kommer att vara den näst vanligaste sjukdomen i världen. Fysisk aktivitet är viktigt för folkhälsan och påverkar individen såväl fysiskt som psykiskt. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att belysa sambandet mellan depression och fysisk aktivitet. Resultatet baseras på 14 artiklar som relaterar till syftet.

På senare år har klimatoron tilltagit i världen, ökade utsläpp av växthusgaser och stigande medeltemperaturer har fått ett stort utrymme på den politiska agendan. För att möta oron har man inom Europeiska Unionen enats om ett antal klimatmål som skall uppfyllas till år 2020. Sverige har under lång tid förlitat sig på skogsindustrin och därigenom byggt upp en stark industri och forskningsverksamhet. Skogsbaserad bioenergi står idag för 90 % av den bioenergi som förbrukas i Sverige. Råvaruöverskottet finns idag i norrlands inland men det stora behovet finns i storstadsregionerna i södra Sverige. Det finns dock vissa problem med transport och lagring av skogsbaserad biomassa och behovet av innovationer är därför stort. Torrefiering är en förädlingsmetod där energidensiteten höjs och lagringsegenskaperna förbättras genom rostning av biomassa i en syrefrimiljö. Syftet med denna studie är att utifrån ett företagsekonomiskt perspektiv undersöka potentialen hos torrefierad pellets under svenska förhållanden. I vår investeringskalkyl framgår det att break even-punkten för priset för torrefierad pellets är 367,55 kr/MWh. Känslighetsanalysen uppvisar att råvarukostnaden har störst påverkan på nettonuvärdet, följt av driftskostnaden och pris som hade samma påverkan, därefter kommer räntan och sist investeringskostnaden. Våra beräkningar visar att det finns en skillnad i tågtransportkostnad mellan torrefierad pellets och konventionell pellets per transporterad MWh.

Purpose: To evaluate the management development course held at FöreningsSparbanken in Ronneby during 2000. The evaluation aims to map and describe what effects the course has had on the participants. We will assess to what degree the effects meets the objectives of the course set by the manager of the bank (future management recruitment, leadership, change catalyst, aligning the strive towards a shared organisational objective). This qualitative review concerns motivation out of a teacher?s perspective. The aim of this study is to illuminate how a few teachers work with motivational work in school and elucidate which traits and competences the teachers consider important for them as motivatiors to possess. The result is based on semi-structured interviews with four active teachers with junior school qualifications. The objective was to learn more about the teacher?s own experiences and opinions regarding the construct of motivation, motivational work and their own role as motivators.

Datan analyserades via kvantitativa och kvalitativa analysmetoder f?r att kunna besvara studiens fr?gest?llningar. Resultat: Resultaten visar att skolor med ett h?gre SEI, det vill s?ga l?gre socioekonomisk status, tenderar att skatta sig l?gre i arbetet med h?lsosamma matvanor i skolan, speciellt g?llande elevers delaktighet, inkluderandet av skolm?ltidspersonalen, uppf?ljandet av matsvinn och n?rvaron under skolm?ltiden.

The aims of the practical work carried out for this thesis were to redesign a clinical decision support system for thoracic surgeons, called AssistMe, and to evaluate the concept behind this system. The main objective of the thesis is to give an account of the considerations that were found to be of key importance for designing a clinical decision support system for thoracic surgery. Another aim was to let future users test the system after it had been redesigned and evaluate the concept behind it. The thesis also investigates users? experience of the system and their views on whether it would be applicable in their daily work practice.

Läns- och lokaltrafikens branschorganisation Svensk Kollektivtrafik har som mål att år 2020 ha fördubblat kollektivtrafikresandet från 2006 års siffror. En sådan förändring kommer inte att ske av sig självt utan ett målmedvetet arbete kommer att krävas för att göra kollektivtrafiken mer attraktiv. En alltmer aktuell utveckling av kollektivtrafiken är att flera svenska städer har mer eller mindre långtgångna planer på att införa spårvagnstrafik.   Detta examensarbetes syfte är att utreda förutsättningarna för en spårvägsetablering i Västerås Stad.  Arbetet delas in i litteraturstudie, fallstudie, enkätstudie samt intervjustudie.
