Nyligen introducerades företaget på den amerikanska Nasdaq-börsen och det skulle komma att bli en av de högst värderade börsnoteringarna någonsin. Förväntningarna på Facebook är enorma, men samtidigt hörs kritiska röster om hur aktieägarnas förväntningar på ekonomisk avkastning kommer tillfredsställas på bekostnad av användarnas integritet detta skulle i förlängningen skapa missnöje. Det är onekligen en imponerande framgångssaga men i takt med ökande närvaro på internet i allmänhet och Facebook i synnerhet framstår det också som ett socialt fenomen värt att studera. Det är en plats där miljontals människor interagerar dagligen, men man kan fråga sig vari lockelsen ligger med Facebook och vilka biverkningar som tillkommer.

This essay is a study that contributes to the larger research question ?Why do farms shut down?? The subject was chosen because it is a relevant problem that needs to be studied more. This study's boundary is to investigate the reasons for decisions leading to the farms at the Torstuna community, Fjärdhundra, changes in any activity scale or the outlook of the entire farm. When a decision is made, there are usually several reasons behind it and it is these reasons which this essay is aiming to study. The question "What are the reasons for the elderly to live on the farm even though the farm is not cultivated by them?" is also covered in the study.

The topic of this thesis interest is the relation between branding as a place making/marketing technology and the process of regionalization. The main proposition advocated is that the officially communicated image of the Øresund Region, as a cohesive place and community, is a space that has been configured with branding and can be described as a territorial simulation. The concept of territorial simulation consists of two conjoined terms: simulation which aim at explaining the idiosyncratic brand image, as a social formation, which does not represent the place it imitates but commoditise it; and territorial which seeks to visualize the process of the unfolding of this image as a territory. The main argument is made in the third chapter, which traces the process of actualization of the brand image as a territory: ?Øresund?.

It's not a secret that most companies strive to get such a high economic return as possible. To successfully engage in a profitable enterprise, there are many elements that come into play. An important element is the motivation of the employees and their work performance. Work motivation is a key factor for the employees to improve their performance and therefore determinant for the successes of the company.This work is a case study in the production at Fresenius Kabi, Uppsala. The work is based on an employee survey that they fill out once a year and the aim is to develop a deeper understanding for these questions and how the employees see on leadership, communication and goal-setting as motivators and how these factors works in the company today.To get this deeper understanding I have used a qualitative approach.

Light pollution in urban areas - How to prevent light pollution at construction Jakob Sjöling Light pollution is a relatively new but rapidly growing form of pollution. Society's increasing demand for light coupled with the pace at which lighting technology evolves is accelerating that growth. The purpose of this study was to analyse how the construction industry plan and design outdoor lighting when erecting new buildings, specifically with regards to the issue of light pollution. It also investigated how local authorities work with these issues during urban planning. In both cases special interest was placed in ways to improve the planning and use of outdoor lighting in order to minimize light pollution.

As the population gets olderdementia also increases the spread in the country. Because of this more people withdementia will be in need of help in their everyday lives. This will increase the demandson elderly care in the municipalities where they have to offer good care. As moreindividuals suffering from dementia will be in need of help in their daily lives aid officers'encounters with people suffering from dementia and their relatives or any representativesbecome more common.The study had as objective to study aid officer's reasoning on the treatment of dementedindividuals in need of help.

För att undersöka frågeställningarna valdes en kvalitativ metod inspirerad av Hutchins tankar på hur kognition bör studeras i dess naturliga kontext (?cognition in the wild") realistisk soldatsimulator och undersökningsdeltagarna rekryterades från ett community som ofta spelar sagda spel. På så sätt eftersträvades det att studien genomfördes i sin ?vilda? kontext där röstchattandet blir en kombination av uppstyrt problemlösande och socialt småprat.

Underrättelsetjänsten har alltid haft som sin  viktigaste uppgift att agera som varningsklocka för hot mot landet för vilket den existerar. Under det kalla kriget var det största hotet mot Sverige en invasion och ett tredje världskrig. I och med murens fall och slutet på det kalla kriget ändrades hoten snabbt. Idag så finns inte längre någon tydlig hotbild mot Sverige men den ökade globaliseringen och det informationsberoende samhället skapar nya hot mot oss. En regional konflikt kan ha globala konsekvenser, och där med även beröra Sverige.I arbetet ställer sig författaren frågan hur den svenska underrättelsetjänsten har förändrats med den förändrade hotbilden och om underrättelsetjänsten är anpassad till de nya krav som ställs på den.

Abstract: Uppsatsen behov av sociala mötesplatser i Malmö är en kvantitativ studie med delvis öppna frågor vilket innebär att den har en kvalitativ ansats också. Uppsatsen handlar om sociala mötesplatsers betydelse för känslan av gemenskap och känslan av delaktighet i samhället. Men också om det finns en vilja att engagera sig i en social verksamhet såsom en mötesplats. vi undersöker vad dessa mötesplatser måste innehålla för att möta de behov som finns hos människor, vidare vilka behov som finns. Detta undersöker vi genom att studera olika faktorer som påverkar upplevelsen av gemenskap i det närområde man bor, varför man besöker mötesplatser och om man anser att de är nödvändiga och i så fall varför.

 Prostitution has been intensely debated in Sweden for nearly four decades. Two major investigations have so far been initiated by the government and numerous propositions have been put forward in the Swedish parliament resulting in the sexköpslag from 1999 that criminalizes purchase of sexual services. The law aims at punishing the buyer and protecting the women in prostitution, thus making it possible for women to be helped by various social interventions rather than punished. Swedish society has undergone major changes in these decades. Globalization, the internet and the membership in the EU have changed the Swedish society and influenced the discourse on prostitution.This paper has a twofold aim, on the one hand investigating if and how these changes have had an impact on the prostitution discourse in texts produced by the government and analyze how female and male sexuality in connection to prostitution is constructed.

Recreation leaders on youth recreation centres is a professional category, mostly mentioned in the public conversation when it comes to taxes and youth problems. But what do they really do, what outlook do they have to their task, and finally, how are their daily lives like at work? The stories of twelve people represent the basis of this essay which itself consists of two separate studies. Six professional recreation leaders speak about their view of their own work, based on background, mission, education, ethics and position. The recreation leaders´stories reflect a worksituation with meetings of great significance andimportant standpoints.

The study aims to investigate student?s attitudes and experiences of information retrieval on the Internet, as tools for learning. I have been interested of their own views about their own knowledge and experience in the subject, information seeking on the Internet. The focus is on what they perceive as problematic, what skills they consider they have and what needs they have in terms of teaching. Data were collected via questionnaires.

The practice of landscape architectural involves forming the space in our cities and suburbs, as well as the landscape surrounding. The need of exploiting green environment leads up to, among other issues, flood problem during heavy rain and overfed water environments. The problem is partially caused by the shortage of knowledge, how the environment is responding of the innovations made by the city- urban planning and how to get sustainability. Research and knowledge how to take care of our environment, in a natural way, is increasing. The object of the thesis is to propose control and balance in urban wetlands, and discuss the difference a plant design can do. The thesis deals with discourses in the field of landscape architecture, biological diversity, dam construction, limnology, planting design and management, pollution of the environment and urban design practice.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to examine how managers in some public libraries are using performance measurements and to what extent decision making is based on the results. The main questions posed are:??What performance measurements and indicators are used in the libraries examined???What is the attitude towards performance measurements among library managers???How and to what extent are performance measurements and indicators used in the process of decision making???What improvement would library managers wish regarding the development of performance measurements in public libraries?The theory is based on a model of evaluation of the public sector in addition to general steps of evaluation of quality and performance measurement results. The investigation is based on qualitative interviews with seven managers of public libraries in Sweden.
