This C-essay is a qualitative study designed to create a basis for understanding how managers involved in school affairs perceive the impact of Merit points on students? chances to continue on to higher education and how this will affect individuals' life chances.The study is based on three interviews with managers involved in school affairs. In this paper grades, Merit points and socioeconomic class differences are discussed.The aim of this paper is to answer the following questions:? What impact does Merit points in language studies and the way different languages are valued, in the system, have for the individual and for society?? Who are the winners in the new grading system and who are the losers; how are different socioeconomic groups affected?The material was interpreted with the help of a report written by Ingrid Nordqvist and Monica Langerth Zetterman called "Secondary School competition field-a regional perspective", a paper written by Helen Raven who did a study on grades, national tests and social reproduction and the Frenchman Pierre Bourdieu's theories.The results show that class differences will increase and that it will be difficult to rise in the social hierarchy in the future..

Utlandsstudier under studietiden, en merit?

Högskola/universitet riktar sina blickar allt mer ut mot övriga världen och en del i denna internationalisering är att studenterna har möjlighet till utlandsstudier under studietiden. En av de utbildningar som uppmärksammar detta är Biblioteks- och informationsvetenskaps-programmet vid Växjö universitet, där studenterna den femte terminen har möjlighet till utlandsstudier. Denna studie syftar till att undersöka huruvida dessa utlandsstudier under studietiden betraktas som en Merit eller inte vid anställning av bibliotekarier. Detta syfte ses utifrån två grupper: tidigare studenter på biblioteks- och informationsvetenskapsprogrammet vid Växjö universitet och personer med anställningsansvar inom biblioteksyrket, så kallade avnämare. I examensarbetet tar jag upp dessa två gruppers uppfattningar kring utlandsstudier och jag undersöker också hur medvetna de tidigare studenterna är om avnämarnas uppfattningar kring utlandsstudier.

The questionnaire comprised questions about reading habits in the childhood and today and information concerning Merits and descent.Pierre Bourdieu?s sociological ideas about cultural capital transmitted from parent to child and the concept of habitus are used as a theoretical framework regarding descent.

Betygens betydelse efter examen från sjöbefälsskolan : - En kvalitativ undersökning av betygens roll vid rekrytering och anställning av juniorstyrmän

Syftet med detta examensarbete var att undersöka betygens betydelse som Merit när man somsjökaptensstudent ska söka jobb som juniorstyrman efter examen från sjöbefälsskolan. Dettaundersöktes genom att intervjua de personalansvariga på fyra svenska rederier för att höra derasåsikter om skolbetyg som Merit då de rekryterar juniorbefäl till sina fartyg. För att skaffa oss endjupare bakgrundsförståelse i ämnet så sökte vi efter tidigare liknande studier. Vi fann två tidigareexamensarbeten som behandlar ämnet rekrytering av sjöbefäl men inget av dem berör skolbetygen.Skolbetyg är något som berör alla sjöbefälsstudenter mer eller mindre och det var därför relevant ochaktuellt att genomföra en studie på detta. Resultatet av denna studie kan inte generaliseras ochappliceras på alla svenska rederier då vi endast hörde fyra rederiers åsikter.

MERIT - Utveckling av en webbplatform för Smärt- och Rehabiliteringsenheten i Linköping

Smärt och rehabiliteringenheten på Universitetsjukhuset i Linköping har efterfrågat en webbapplikation som ska fungera som ett supplement till den traditionella rehabiliteringsplanen som finns för att hjälpa patienter. Webbapplikationens huvudsakliga mål är att förbereda patienter för kommande rehabilitering och även vara ett verktyg för kommunikation och hjälpmedel både under och efter rehabiliteringen. Vårt examensarbete har gått ut på att utveckla plattformen Merit, "Min egen rehabilitering på Internet". Plattformen är webbaserad och uppbyggd efter MVC mönstret med hjälp av PHP-ramverket CodeIgniter. Behandlare har själva möjligheten och ansvaret att skapa det material som ska delgivas patienterna på både individuell och gruppnivå.

Following study is about motivation from a student perspective. Based on the prescribed literature and published research, the concept and field of motivation have been illuminated. The purpose of the study was to examine how students in ninth grade perceived their educational motivation and what kind importance they considered it had for their performance in school. The study is also supposed to base upon the result; clarify the differences if any between schools. In an attempt to get a clear image of this a quantitative method in the form of surveys was made on two schools in the Stockholm region. One of the schools had a really good Merit value, and the other had a rather poor Merit- value. By choosing a quantitative method a relatively large number of students where able to participate and equally large quantity of statistics have been presented. The result point at motivation in the participating students in both schools can increase and decrease through different factors.

Stabilisering av sulfidjord: en litteratur- och
laboratoriestudie

Detta examensarbete ingår som den första, och utgör den laborativa delen av ett forskningsprojekt där stabilisering av sulfidjord undersöks. Syftet med arbetet var att undersöka vilken eller vilka bindemedelskombinationer respektive inblandningsmängder som är lämpligast för stabilisering av sulfidhaltiga jordar. Målet med studien är att genom laboratorieförsök finna ett eller flera bindemedel som ger en tillfredsställande stabiliseringseffekt. Resultat från tidigare utförda stabiliseringsprojekt i sulfidjord har sammanställts och utvärderats och legat till grund för den laboratoriestudie som genomförts. Laboratoriestudien omfattar en inblandningsserie där jord från fyra djup från samma provlokal använts.

This paper discuss the possibilities to improve the Swedish political nomination system. It brings up some of the values and norms that can be used to change the existing system. Values as openness, the demand of responsibility and also if there is values from the American spoils system that can be used in the Swedish system. A minor purpose is to discuss the part of the parliament within the nomination process. To investigate this I have some theoretical starting points and a self constructed analysis tool.

Social kompetens: med fokus på rekryteringsprocessen.

Idag pratas det om social kompetens i alla möjliga sammanhang och framförallt i rekryteringssammanhang. Trots det så finns det ingen allmängiltig definition. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka om arbetsgivare och arbetssökande har samma definitioner av begreppet och hur arbetsgivare värderar kompetensen i förhållande till formella Meriter. För att få svar på frågorna har sju semistrukturerade intervjuer med personer som arbetar med att rekrytera personal till sin organisation samt en enkätundersökning med 25 arbetssökande personer genomförts. Resultaten av undersökningen visar att det inte finns någon allmängiltig definition men att arbetsgivare trots det i vissa fall lägger stor vikt vid den sökandes sociala kompetens.
