En kvantitativ studie av arbetsklimatets påverkan på ekonomiskt resultat
The well-being of employees has become a key concept in the rhetoric of the company boards and business literature of today. There is however not much statistic evidence of a connection between economic results and the perceived working climate. This thesis sets out to investigate whether there is a positive correlation between economic results and working climate on a work group level. It also aims to study which specific working climate factors influence the results. In order to meet its purpose this thesis analyzes employee satisfaction questionnaire data and economic results from more than 300 work groups. A correlation analysis between working climate and economic results shows a positive significant correlation. A theoretical model of the factors of the working climate and its effect on economic result is then tested, but the significance level was lower than expected. Factor analysis then constructed a slightly different model of factors that showed a higher significance level towards economic results. The study thereby shows that a good working climate has a significant positive effect on economic results, although the factors might differ from theory. It also shows that the relation between supply and demand in the market has an impact on the strength of the correlation and which factors it consists of.
