En fallstudie av två växande företag som konkurrerar med offentlig sektor
A too large public sector impedes the economic development of Sweden and more privatization could increase the efficiency, quality and diversity of the services offered. It is therefore important that firms operating in traditionally public sectors are given the opportunity to grow. We have through a case study examined two mid-size firms that offer services to, and compete with, the public sector. This thesis aims to describe the growth strategies these firms are using and if competing with the public sector implies any differences in possibilities or barriers when it comes to the firms? growth. Our results show that there are still institutional barriers that prevent the growth in these companies. Also, the firms have in common a challenge in controlling their respective units with decentralized responsibility, which they have in common with other service enterprises, although it is particularly important due to the importance of the services offered by the firms studied. On the other hand the context the companies operate within results in some barriers which can if treated right instead be turned into competitive advantages. The results are partly in line with previous research on growth but because of the context our firms operate within as well as their respective size; other aspects are also found to be of importance.
