Territoriell stigmatisering. En litteraturbaserad studie om möjligheten att använda begreppet ?territoriell stigmatisering? i förklaringsmodeller bakom ojämlikhet i hälsa.

Introduction: Public health is based on the determinants of health. They mutually influence each other. Structural factors and life conditions contribute to health inequality both within and between countries. Health inequality can be seen between different social groups, which can be the cause of differences in living conditions, health behavior and disease vulnerability. One of the consequences of this is segregation which means that certain groups live apart, where this distribution can be connected to economic resources and/or ethnicity. This is a part of a discrimination pattern of certain groups and stigmatization of certain suburbs. Aim: This literature based study?s aim was to examine the theoretical basis for using the term territorial stigmatization in the field of public health. Method: Study design used was literature based and material contained of 13 science articles that war appraised for quality. Result: During the analysis of these articles six categories were found thus became headings in the result. These were: residents? strategies for stigma avoidance, health and territorial stigmatization, territorial stigmatization towards certain areas and also certain tenure, self-efficacy and empowerment and the last one was territorial stigmatization in Sweden. Discussion/Conclusion: Territorial stigmatization can be used in the field of public health science, first of all as a part of different explanation models behind health inequality.
