Communication hasa vital role in organizations for control when management and employees are communicatingand interacting with each other to spread individual learning. Thru this contact, individuallearning can develop into organizational learning, which will benefit the whole organization.The most modern tool of communication is social media such as Facebook, Twitter andYoutube. The potential of these social media is disputed in society, but more and moreorganizations are using these kinds of media for communication.Aim:The purpose of this study is to illustrate how social media is used to control withinorganizations and also to create understanding how significant social media are fororganizational learning.Method:The method of this study originates from the ?aktörssynsätt? and is influenced byhermeneutics. The research approach is qualitative and a case study including thirteeninterviews at ten organizations was performed. The responders were managers.Results:The result of this study shows that the organizations, which we were in contact withare using different kinds of social media. Facebook, Twitter and such social media are notused for internal communication. Instead, social media such as intranet in different shapes andforms is primary used. The management at the organizations thinks that social media can havea big significance for organizational learning by their way of simplifying the internalcommunication in the organization. But there is a difference between the organizations. Insome organizations the organizational learning takes place in the physical interaction.Keywords:Organizational learning, internal communication and social media.
