En kvalitativ studie om lärare och elevers tankar och upplevelser kring momentet dans

AimThe study aims to highlight and discuss students 'and teachers ' conceptions of teaching in the element of dance in physical education.IssuesHow do teachers work with teaching of dance in physical education in secondary school?How do students perceive the teaching of dance in physical education in secondary school?MethodThis study used a qualitative approach with semi structured interviews. Two teachers in two schools were interviewed and two focus groups of five students each were interviewed. One school is located north of Stockholm and the other one east of Stockholm. The interviews were recorded with a cellphone and transcribed. The interviews took 30 minutes each. The result was analyzed by Antonovsky's concept SOC "sense of coherence".ResultThe results showed that teachers mainly try to play down dance, make dancing fun and they are trying to start dance from the students' interests. The teachers strive for students to understand what pace is both practical and theoretical. Students perceive themselves as poor dancers. They argue that it is difficult to follow and imitate the movements they are shown and did not feel that dance education in school was adapted to their generation. The students were divided on the dance's significance, but the teachers said that the dance was an important element in teachingConclusionTraditional dances are considered by both teachers and students as something students perceive as boring and not -generation adapted to the students. For the students it does not make sense to have dancing in the school curriculum and their momentum will remain low, resulting in a low SOC. The teachers strive for pupils to experience dance as a moment of joy, togetherness and commitment and feel a high meaningfulness, a higher driving force, leading to a higher SOC.
