Mjölkproduktion
planering för om-, till- och nybyggnad
The objective of this thesis was to get more knowledge about how to design a dairy
farm reducing the working hours and the work tasks whit high work load. I will try to
reduce the working hours and the tasks whit high work load on my own farm witch I
am about inherit. Today, the old stanchion barn has room for about 60 cows and 74
young cattle and need two men to run it every day. The total acre is 188 hectare, 100
hectare forest, 65 hectare farmlands and 23 hectare natural pasture.
I have studied two solutions. In the first solution, I will use my old barn for young
cattle and build a new barn for the cows. In the second solution, I will tear down the
old barn and build a completely new one containing all livestock. In both solutions
there will be 80 cows and 110 young cattle. Both solutions are isolated buildings. The
daily work needs to be done in 6 hours and the solutions must be possible to finance.
All livestock is in loose house system. The cows and the pregnant heifers are kept in
cubicles and manure alleys whit scrapers. The younger cattle are kept in pens whit
slatted floor and the calves are kept in large pen whit deep litter and automatic calf
feeder. The feeding is solved with feed wagons on rail and automatic concentrate
feeders. The milking parlour is of the type ?tandem? and the manure is handled as
slurry. In booth solutions, the working hours and the work tasks whit high work load
are minimized.
The cost for the first solution comes down to 46,137 SEK per cow and for the second
solution 75,062 SEK. The cost does not include excavation around the building,
electrical installations and own work contribution. The coast are without discount.
