En kvalitativ studie om hemtjänstmottagares syn på hemmet, åldrande och hjälpberoende
AbstractThe intention of our study was to examine the meaning of home of elderly women and men and how they experience their getting older. We also wanted to see how elderly women and men experience to receive home-help-service in their own home. The study was based on qualitative interviews with elderly women and men. The informants were five women and four men between the ages of 60-84 years. They all had everyday help from the home-help-service. To interpret the material we have been using earlier studies and Antonovsky´s theory of KASAM. In the result we have compared the answers between women and men to find similarities and differences. The main result was that the home is very meaningful for both women and men. We also found that none of the informants felt like they were in a position of dependence. On the other hand all informants felt that it was a changeover to receive home-help-service and it has taken some time to accept their new situation. For the women has the changeover taken a longer time than it has for the men.Keywords: home, ageing, dependent
