en undersökning bland privata markägare inom en region i Värmland

This work broadly illuminates the conditions for increasing the commissions of forestry services within the whole, or parts of, the western regions of Stora Enso?s operating area. Through a questionnaire, a survey was made examining whether the owners of the forests themselves do the forestry on their woodlands. This foremost concerns the pre-commercial thinning, but also planting and soil scarification. The survey also shows who are buying the most part of their forestry services and who are carrying it out themselves. Further on, the work clarifies differences in buying forestry services in view of the owner?s age, size of property and whether the owner lives in or out of the municipality that the owned forest is situated in. The survey was sent to 300 randomly chosen land owners in Arvika and Sunne municipalities, who during the years 2000-2002 reported felling of forest to the National Board of Forestry. The rate of reply was 54 %, which means 162 replies. The respondents were divided into six groups: older and younger land owners, owners of small and large properties, and owners who live in the same municipality that their forest is situated in and those who live out of the forest?s municipality. If the material is divided into planting, clearance work and ground breaking, it is possible to recognize certain tendencies. The result shows that owners of large properties to a larger extent turn to companies for undertaking of forestry services, compared to the other groups. Throughout the survey it shows that companies who have accomplished satisfying work earlier, in most cases are hired again by the same land owner. The hope is that this survey will give Stora Enso a pointer, as to which land owners to turn to for increasing the selling of forestry services.
