Background: Research has shown that people with limited hand function , and above all osteoarthritis of the thumbs , a limited task ability in daily activities. At a disabilities can be the person's identity, well-being and ability to participate in society is changing. Purpose: The purpose is, through a literature review describing occupational therapy Conservative interventions for people with osteoarthritis of the CMC 1 joint and its consequences for the performance of activities of daily living . Procedure and Analysis: The method in this study, a systematic review of scientific literature used. Database search and manual search occurred during the period from March 2014 to May 2014 . This analysis was performed by examination and the quality of the selected 15 articles for responding to this study's purpose. Results: Persons with hand osteoarthritis using strategies in self- care to facilitate the performance of daily activities. Occupational therapy can help to reduce pain through conservative treatment methods. The following interventions were identified in articles : orthotic , assistive devices , hand exercise , joint protection and strategies of self-care. Activities requiring additional strength in twisting moment gave the most common hand problems . Conclusion: Today, there is support for many of the interventions used in clinical practice for people with hand osteoarthritis. However, it is difficult to draw definitive conclusions that the interventions that are currently used have sufficient effect on the long term.
