Within the ambulance care in Uppsala County a vacuum Splint is used to immobilize fractures on extremities. The research available on which method of immobilizing to prefer during pre-hospital treatment is limited. The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the perceptions of the ambulance personal in Uppsala County on the issue of usability of SAM-Splint and vacuum Splint when immobilizing extremities. The project was also aimed at researching if SAM-Splint could be seen as an alternative or a complement to vacuum Splint, and to get an apprehension on any evident differences in patients? perceived pain when treated with the two different approaches. A descriptive comparative study was carried out. All patients, regardless of age and sex, with the need of immobilizing supposed fractures, were included.  Patients with suspected femur fracture, collum fracture, or where pre-hospital care was not possible or in question, was excluded.

Densitetsmätningar och permeabilitetstest enligt EN 927-5 har utförts för att studera huruvida granvirkes fysikaliska egenskaper i kombination med applicerat färgsystem påverkar permeabiliteten. De egenskaper som studerats är frod- och senvuxenhet, Splint- och kärnved samt densitet. Aktuella färgsystem som studerats är alkyd, akrylat och linolja, vilka jämförts med omålad referens. Studien påvisar inget samband mellan virkets densitet och permeabilitet, bestruket eller ej. Det som istället tycks påverka vattenabsorptionen är närvaro av Splint-/kärnved samt frod-/senvuxenhet.

This essay investigates the function of fictional space and thematics in Line Knutzon?s dramatic works.My main theoretical concept is thematic unity, factors that unite several plays by one author.I have found three major themes: the encounter, identity and childhood, which I study in five of Knutzon?s plays: The Splint In The Heart, The Latest Thing, First You?re Born, The Air Others Breathe and The Time Will Soon Come.I study three aspects of space: fictive space, where the play is set, the characters? inner space and exterior space, that which is outside fictive space: society. Fictive space is shown mainly via dialogue and context.It is evident that the themes, most clearly visible in the five chosen plays, are very important in Line Knutzon?s dramatic works. Most typical is the way she portrays childhood memories, in monologues showing that her characters exist in a ?hole?, in the void between childhood and adulthood.My investigation leads to the conclusion that Knutzon deals with existential matters: there is a kind of constant chaos, within her characters, expressed in actions and thoughts.
