Interaktionens betydelse i distansutbildning. Studenternas upplevelse av interaktionsdimensioners påverkan av sammankomster i en distansutbildning


The purpose of this study has been to create a better understading of how face?to?face activities in course´s impacts on the experience of interaction within a course.More specifically, the study puts the student'?s perception of how mandatory face?to?face activities affect and are affected by the interaction in focus. This is done by the following research questions. What affects the student'?s perception of face?to?face activities? Which interaction dimension affects the factors that influence students perception of the activities? Which interaction dimension is influenced by the student'?s perception of the activities?The theoretical base is Wagner'?s (1994) three types of interaction and Andersson´s(2003) theory of interaction dimensions. The study is conducted with mixed methods.Qualitative data were collected through a Delphie inspired study and quantitativedata through an online survey. The respondents of the online survey where students studying both at regular courses as well as those studying in diffrent types ofdistance courses. The surveyresults was analyzed with crosstabs, Cronbach'?s alpha,Pearson'?s correlation and regression analysis. The material from the Delphie group analyzed based on categories, keywords, themes and patterns.A comprehensive result provide a good understanding of what influences theperception of face?to?face activities it also illuminates which interactions that affectand are affected. The study finds that the main factor affecting the perception of face?to?face activities is the social dimension as well as the interaction with the teacher.Most affected by face?to?face activities is the interaction between student and teacher.An interesting part of the result is that the students that are enrolled in a distancecourse whith mandatory face?to?face activities have a very high sense ofresponsibility towards both their teachers and their fellow students.Keywords: interaction, distance learning, face?to?face, distance education, interactiondimension, student?student, student?teacher, student?content.
