Hur gymnasieelever resonerar kring rökning och prevention av rökning

fokusgruppintervjuer med rökare och ickerökare

The aim of the present study was to investigate high school students? ways of discussing smoking and prevention of smoking. A total of eight high school students participated in the study. Two focus groups were used to collect data, one of smokers and one of nonsmokers. Data were analyzed with inductive content analysis. The main findings were that both smokers and non smokers associated smoking with factors that influence adolescent's smoking behavior. Some of the factors that the participants thought influenced a smoking behavior were friends, parents and teachers' smoking behavior. Smokers were less concerned about the long-term risks of smoking than nonsmokers. However, all participants agreed that short-term disadvantages, such as price, smell and physical fitness were the biggest concerns.  A common attitude among both smokers and non smokers was a critical approach to the chances of reducing the prevalence of smoking among adolescents. Nonsmokers had more concrete suggestions on how to decrease smoking than smokers. What may seem important is to focus on highlighting the short-term disadvantages of smoking, considering the participants? great concern for them.
