"Handla i övrigt som vid möte med spårvagnar." En studie av Körkortsbokens bild av bilföraren

Abstract (Engelska)The aim of this study is to investigate who is being emphasized, constructed and normalized as the addressee written for, in the text book ?Körkortsboken 2013?. Körkortsboken is used as the major textbook in the theoretical part of the education necessary to obtain a drivers? license in Sweden. Most people in Sweden obtain a drivers? license, sooner or later. Hence it is important that as many as possible of those can identify themselves in the material used during the education.The study is based upon a theoretical framework which is inspired by critical discourse analysis and an intersectional perspective. This methodology has been used to analyze how the reader, is addressed, positioned, described and referred to in relation to the sender and other referents in the text.The results show that, especially in the introductory chapter, the driver student is commonly implied in the text as a young person, who lives with his or her parents and who don ?t need to have economical concerns for the driver?s license education.However, there are other identities offered for readers who doesn ?t fit into that description. Those identities are mainly offered in those chapters which are the most instructive in driving, as a consequence of descriptions and inbuilt assumptions of the reader, being less abundant.
