Gymnasieungdomars känsla av sammanhang och fysisk aktivitet - finns det ett samband?

en kvantitativ studie

Background: Physical activity is important to sustain your health, but there are also other factors which can influence health. One of them is the degree of sense of coherence. Aim: The main purpose of this study was to examine if there existed a correlation between amount of physical activity and degree of sense of coherence (SOC) in adolescents in the northern parts of Sweden. This study also dealt with differences and similarities between and within the whole examination- group and subgroups. Methods: A SOC- questionnaire with 29 items, developed by Antonovsky, was used. There were two additional questions, one regarding gender and the other regarding amount of days which one practice physical activity per week. The examined group was divided in two sub- groups, one theoretical education- group and one practical education- group. Data from these groups were compared between groups, between gender and within the whole examination-group. Results: There was not a statistical significant correlation between the degree of SOC and the amount of physical activity (p= 0,051) within the whole examination- group, but there was a statistical significant correlation within the practical education group and among men. Conclusion: There was a tendency of a correlation between SOC and physical activity, though it was not statistically significant.
