Fysprofilen hos puckelpiståkare på elitnivå och en jämförelse av fysisk prestation över tid

AimThe aim of the present study was to evaluate physical performance according to ?fysprofilen? in skiers of the Swedish mogul ski team and to compare their physical performance at three test occasions during one year.MethodsAll eight elite mogul skiers at the Swedish national mogul ski team during the seasons 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 participated voluntarily in this study. The test battery ?fysprofilen? was performed at three test occasions, October 2011, May 2012 and October 2012. Muscle strength was evaluated with squats, bench press and grip strength; power was evaluated with power clean, squat jump, countermovement jump with and without arm swing, Harre´s test and the 30 meters sprint. Aerobic capacity was evaluated with the Cooper test and anaerobic capacity with 150 meters sprint, chin-ups, dips and trunk flexion. The individual test results regarding all eight mogul skiers from the first test occasion are presented. Each test result was also transformed to points between 1 and 10 according to suggested values for mogul skiing in ?fysprofilen?. Ten points represent the level of international elite athletes and 1 point the level of national elite athletes. The average point for the following categories, muscle strength, power, aerobic capacity and anaerobic capacity, was calculated and defined as the subject´s ?fysindex?. The average points were compared individually for each subject between the three test occasions.ResultsAll eight subjects participated at the first test occasion; four subjects participated in at least two test occasions. The other four subjects were injured during the study period and were therefore only able to participate in one out of the three test occasions. One subject showed impaired results in all variables of the ?fysprofilen? between the first and second test occasion, and an increase in all points at test occasion three. One subject increased his points between the first and second test occasion and between the second and third test occasion except for power. One subject increased all variables between test occasion one and three, and was injured at test occasion two. Another subject showed impaired results in muscle strength and power but an increase in ?fysindex? and anaerobic capacity between test occasion one and two and was injured at test occasion three.ConclusionThis study showed varied results in physical performance as measured with ?fysprofilen? at three test occasions during one year. The most obvious improvements, with increased test results, were found to be between test occasion one and three. The results implies that preseason training was efficient for increasing physical capacity but the physical training during the competitive season most likely was not enough to maintain the same improvements. The variations in the test results can mainly be explained by individual differences, though.
