Introduction When a child comes into a family changing conditions for the older sibling, who may feel left out. This can be a problem for parents who face new challenges towards the older sibling, which can lead to parents looking for advice and support. Parenting is an activity that strengthens the role of parents and provides information about children's health and social development. Purpose The purpose is to describe the parents' experiences of support in their parental role by participating in the sibling circle. Method Semi-structured focus group interview was conducted and qualitative content analysis was performed. Results The results revealed nine subcategories that resulted in three categories; development, group dynamics and there were obstacles. The three categories led to the theme Given changed view of their parental role. Discussion Society requires parents to have knowledge of children and their needs, so that the parents can provide support in their development. Even if the parents have previous experience of being parents, they face new challenges and events, which can be difficult to manage. The results reveal the parents' experiences of participating in the sibling circle and the support that was generated. It also highlights the interesting experiences of group dynamics significance. Conclusion The result shows that the sibling circle give parents support and guidance in their new role as a parent with more than one child. Participating in a group where discussions and new information is available makes parents aware of their own views of their parental role. The reflection creates a health perspective, where the new knowledge leading to the parents access to other approaches and hence the willingness to consider health promotion. Interaction between MVC, BVC and Open preschool is important to give parents support in their parental role. The study may provide a basis for further research on if sibling circles gives an impact on children's health in the context of parents having attended sibling circle.
