This is a project about how you grow timothy seed and red clover seed successfully. The main part is about economic analyse to see if it is any economy by growing leyseed. There are lots of things to be aware of to get all the costs in your economic analyze. Timothy Timothy seed is planted on 4400 hectares in Sweden. It is possible to grow timothy seed in the south part of Sweden. Timothy is very sensitive for dry weather in spring and in the beginning to summer. Timothy gives acceptable harvest of seed for about three years. Red clover Red clover is also sensitive for dry weather and is suitable to grow in the south part of Sweden. It is no good idea to plant on soft soil because it needs so much water. You can only take one season of seed of red clover. Contract All leyseed production is on a contract in Sweden. The project is about how you get a contract on above mentioned leyseed. The project shows prices for buying seed and all the machinery to produce it. It also shows what you get paid for your seed, when all the costs are taken away. Interview The project is based on interviews of active people in the branch. Farmers who are leyseed producers today. Sellers who are selling seed, fertilizers, plant protecting and also are responsible for the leyseed contract. There are good result in timotyseed production, but nearly not acceptable in red clover production. The result shows there must be 499 kg timothy seed /hectare and 338,5 kg red clover seed / hectare for getting break-eaven.
