Delat Ledarskap- En fallstudie om ett delat produktansvar på ledarskapsnivå


Leadership is essential for every company. Its strength or weakness of direction, clarity, and evaluation affects success or failure of its organization. With the complex structure of the big and global companies today leadership is more challenging. The traditional view of leadership, with the single individual possessing all the competences and skills, is therefore being challenged by an alternative way of leadership, a shared leadership. Existing research on the subject is still scarce, which makes further studies in this field important. This paper investigates shared leadership through conducting a case study of a global IT- company. The purpose is to look closer at a shared product responsibility on a leadership level from implementation to consequences and what might have caused them. Results show that implementation was done with minimal preparations, which has led to lack of clarity and direction for the employees when it comes to responsibility and tasks. Vagueness seems to be caused by the lack of devoted time from the leaders and the fact that they are unaware of the competence needed in a shared leadership. Overall, the study indicates that this form of leadership needs to create prerequisites in form of time and competence before the implementation of it takes place. Only when these fundamentals are met the organization may possibly take part of the benefits of a shared leadership.
