Utveckling av en ny testrigg för utloppsmodulen

Alfa Laval?s strategy is to focus on modularized product platforms. Several benefits areforeseen, reduced lead-time, less costs, shorter Time To Market and better quality.Development and verifying will be carried out on block level. Today the separators arebeing tested as a complete unit. A number of factors affect the test results and problemsthat are encountered can be hard to identify. In production, problems often result indelayed delivery.The objective with this study is to develop a test rig that fulfills the demand for separatetestability of hermetic outlet modules.To define problems with the existing test methods a study to analyze the needs andapplicable test methods has been executed. The study shows that there is a need of a testrig, particularly for the development process. Separate assembling of the outlet should beaccomplished before implementing the separate testability in the manufacturing process,so the outlet can be verified and assembled individually before final assembly of theseparator.The thesis presents a number of conceptual solutions for separate testability of the outletmodule. One of them, based on the machine bottom part, is considered to be the mostappropriate due to best satisfaction of the specification.The advantages with separate testing of the outlet module are increased safety, morerapid and earlier testing in the development process, less costs, superior repeatability anda refined test result.The Master Thesis recommends further development of a test rig for the outlet module asa part of Alfa Laval?s modularization strategy, and to make use of the benefits thatseparate testability convey.
