Behovet av normalisering av avvikande ungdomar

en kvalitativ studie om eftervård

The society has always tried to get rid of those who do not "fit in". They doesn't follow the normal behaviour and rules and have to be "dismissed". The community has developed different kinds of institutional care for individuals with dysfunctional behaviour. Those institutions are mental hospitals and prisons. Many of these institutions put the individuals in an extreme situation since they loses their independence and freedom. There are different laws and institutional care for the youth that are "drop outs". The society wants to be protected from those with a dysfunctional behaviour. The aim with my qualitative study has been to discuss what aftercare means, how the social services and other activities works with aftercare, how aftercare for youth under treatment at institute are regulated in the law. I wanted to know what aftercare really is, what laws regulate the aftercare, what aftercare mean for youth under custody at an institution and how social services and other activities works with aftercare for the youth that have been taken under custody at an institution? In order to get an answer on these questions I choose to interview some people with special knowledge on aftercare. In order to understand the phenomenon of aftercare more closely I choose to use Robert K Mertons theory on dysfunctional behaviour and Erving Goffmans theory on overall institutions in my study. During the last years the idea of aftercare of youth has come to be used by the National Board of Health and Welfare. The National Board of Health and Welfare states that aftercare is of great importance for the youth when it comes to development and maturity. The community has continuously responsibility for youth with dysfunctional behaviour that have been looked in to an institution. Children and youth who have been taken under custody on an institution have the same right to support, after the custody, as children and youth living with their parents. Aftercare means that the freedom increases successive. The youth shall be adapted in to the community after a period of custody in an affected world, i.e. institution environment. Aftercare has a great importance with respect to if it's necessary with an additional period of custody or not.
