Humanity has always dreamed about a better world. These dreams has manifested themselves in the vision of Utopia - the good place, but also the non-existing place. Up until World War II man still wrote optimistic descriptions of this ideal world, and spread the idea through literature. In the aftermath of the atomic bomb and under the influence of the cold war, these publications seized to surface in literary surroundings. Despite this Utopia did not die - it has only changed.

Ever since Thomas More?s book Utopia was published in 1516, theUtopian idea has not lost its topicality and has been strongly rootedin literature, art, film and architecture. Utopia can be seen as a statein which Utopia allows a space for wishes, dreams and a desire forsomething better. In my degree project I have chosen to explore thehistorical Utopian ideas to create a content that treats Utopia on asubjective level. With visual communication as a starting point I havetried to fixate this state in a book.

This essay analyzes the production process in connection with the original play Utopia 2012, which premiered at Backa Theatre, Gothenburg, Sweden on 27 October 2012.The aim of the essay is to seek a deeper understanding of this particular production process. No universal process plan was employed when creating Utopia 2012. Therefore, taking into account artistic, technical and administrative aspects of the work, a chronological process map has also been constructed in connection with this essay, in order to clarify each step of the theatrical working process.The theoretical approach is hermeneutic, and the material is based on interviews with key individuals with different professions and functions within the working process in order to gain multifaceted perspectives and results. The interviews took place at Backa Theatre with the exception of those held by telephone with the project?s two producers, both of whom by that time no longer worked at Backa Theatre.The findings of the essay mostly indicate that, with the significant exception of director Mattias Andersson?s artistic vision, no fixed process map nor explicitly articulated common goals were employed in this particular theatre production.

En traditionell uppfattning som den humanistiska tolkningen tog över från tidigare tolkningar var att Utopia är att betrakta som Mores egen idealstat, något som innebar att den ursprungliga frågeställningen främst gällde vilken sorts ideal denne strävat efter att beskriva. Som vi senare kommer att se så tycks det dock som att denna bild gradvis har framstått som alltmer problematisk när man väl börjat analysera Utopia som ett verk författat inom en viss historisk och kulturell kontext, varför man började anpassa den för att överensstämma med en ökad kunskap om More och hans samtid. Från att ursprungligen ha betraktas som relativt självklar har således bilden av Utopia som en utopi under 1900-talet kommit att bli föremål för debatt, såväl när det gäller vilken sorts ideal More ville förmedla, i vilken grad han avsåg att göra detta, och till slut också huruvida detta alls var hans avsikt.Ett övergripande syfte med denna uppsats är att studera denna utveckling för att undersöka hur och varför bilden av Utopia som en entydig skildring av ett idealsamhälle kom att förändras när verket studerades under den humanistiska tolkningens premisser. För att klargöra detta förhållande lyfts ett antal läsningar av Utopia inom den humanistiska tolkningen fram för att analyseras. Styrande frågeställningar blir här hur man inom dessa väljer att framställa Mores verk, vilka argument man använder sig av för att befästa denna tolkning och eventuella bakomliggande motiv för dessa, hur man förhåller sig till de problem som uppstår när den traditionella bilden av Utopia möter den humanistiska tolkningens perspektiv, samt hur de olika tolkningarna förhåller sig till varandra.

The object of this essay is the Swedish author Agnes von Krusenstjerna's novels Ninas dagbok (The diary of Nina) and Helenas första kärlek (Helena's first love) as well as the cycle novel Fröknarna von Pahlen (The misses von Pahlen). The purpose is to explore her use of the discourse of girls' fiction, which I analyse by the depiciton of women's sexual awakening, and her depiction of sadomasochism. The theories of Elaine Showalter, Jacques Derrida, Michel Foucault and Judith Butler are used.Women's sexual awakening is depicted similarly in the novels but more explicitly in Fröknarna von Pahlen. In Ninas dagbok and Helenas första kärlek there is an eroticization of dominance and submission, which is not explicitly sadomasochistic. In Fröknarna von Pahlen, sadomasochism is explicitly described as a "perverted" sexuality and reveals the inequality in the violent sexuality, which is described as "normal".

The purpose of this study was to analyze two local tourism related organizations in Umeå and how they used the marketing method Storytelling. The aim of this study was to examine what kind of stories the tourism related organizations were using, what these stories said in a direct, or in-direct way and how the reception was of the stories and the destinations. A qualitative study in the form of a discourse analysis based on Laclau and Mouffe's view on discourse analysis was conducted. The results of this study shows that storytelling is more effective when it is incorporated in the whole destination/organization when it comes to tourism related organizations and destinations. It also shows that storytelling in itself isn't only an innocent and positive tool and can cause negative feelings if used wrongly for an organization/destination.

2013. The brave new time.We constantly look forward in time. There is a need today to constantly renew, replace and update almost everything in our lives. Although often stressful, these continual changes and upgrades can open up new possibilities and even be seen as enjoyable and stimulating.Values, opinions, and everything we create, is based on an experience of the past and predictions of what the future might be. I want to take advantage of these thoughts and find out how they relate to our exchangeable culture.

This thesis highlights starting points underlying the notions of two feminist Utopians, Christine de Pizan and Charlotte Perkins Gilman. In approaching their texts, it focuses on the notions central to understand their writings. These would be historical, social, and cultural contexts. Defining concepts as Utopian in its varying forms and feminism has been of significance. A feministic approach grounded in Simone de Beauvoirs philosophical phenomenology in the study of feministic Utopia's visibility, has contributed to the understanding of the power structures to which women are tethered. In order to understand the way women are presented, it has become obvious that The Book of the City of Ladies and Herland are literary works that are related not only by their authors? background and personality but by the society in which they lived. Through their engagement in the contemporary intellectual debate on all social planes, both authors contributed to shifting the focus of their own contemporary notions of a woman to the notion of a woman equal to men. Woman, in Christine de Pizans Utopia, is given specific properties and through themes of issues given meaning. She is not free in the sense that Simone de Beauvoir says.  She has a broader repertoire than was historically assigned, but her freedom is not arbitrary, contingent, and temporary and judged by her actions.

For the Swedish artist Björn Lövin, the personal was a problem. In his first exhibition in Moderna Museet, Lövin observed through the fictitious character Mr. P (for »Personality«) the ruptures in the Swedish welfare state. The exhibition Konsument i oändligheten och Herr P:s penningar (Consumer in Infinity and Mr. P?s Money) (1971) was composed of two environments, through which a veridical working class apartment and a high street with life-sized mannequins and furniture characteristic of its time, visualized the societal discrepancies in the welfare state as well as the art world of the early 1970s.

Academica är ett stadsbyggnadsförslag för området längs Valhallavägens östra del mellan Roslagstull och korsningen Valhallavägen/Odengatan. Bakom förslaget står Stockholmsbyggmästarna och Utopia Arkitekter. Platsen har identifierats av Stockholmsstad som ställer sig positiva till att utvecklaområdet. I samband med NorraLänkens färdigställande år 2015 förväntas trafikmängden minska och transport av farligt gods kommer inte längre att tillåtas på Valhallavägen. Detta kommer att göra det möjligt att utveckla området och inte minst att bebygga det med bostäder.
