Journalisters val av källor : En kvalitativ studie av yrkesvardagen

In this study we have investigated how local journalists in Kalmar think when they choose their Sources to interview. We have also studied several factors that can affect their choices of Sources. We have interviewed eight news journalists from the two largest local news papers Barometern and Östran in Kalmar. The journalists were asked about the Sources they often use as interview objects. They were supposed to tell about how they think when choosing Sources and define which Sources they commonly use. There are different factors that can affect the choices and we have narrowed them down to ethics, source critics, credibility, stress, hard production conditions, public and their own interest and if they consider themselves to be individualistic or controlled by the news desks. Furthermore the journalists were asked to characterize what changes they would make when choosing Sources in a perfect world. All of the journalists had not reflected prominently on the subject of Sources before our research.

Tryckt eller elektroniskt? Bibliotekariers användning av referensverk på svenska folkbibliotek.

The main purpose of this Masters thesis was to examine how the Internet and other electronic Sources have affected public librarians use of printed reference Sources. During the last couple of years the use of the electronic Sources - in particular the Internet has become more established in the Swedish public libraries. Our aim was to examine if and how this has affected the use of the printed reference Sources. This has been examined on the basis of the following factors: the gender and age of the librarians and how long they have served in the library. We also examined if the size of the library affects the use of the printed and the electronic reference Sources and also which factors that are most important when librarians acquire reference Sources.

?Vissa kan man lita på mer än andra? . En studie i gymnasieelevers källkritiska bedömningar

The main purpose of this master thesis is to examine how high school students think when they independently are evaluating information for a school assignment. We examine what types of Sources they use, and what their reasons are. Besides that we also examine what sorts of criteria they use when evaluating if a source is usable, and if there are any other factors that can have an influence for their choice of material. We have done a qualitative study with 23 students, where the students wrote down their answers in a questionnaire containing wide open questions. We have created our own tool for analysing the material by extracting the most general things in our chapter of earlier research, concerning the three questions which our study is based on.

Gymnasielärares informationssökning: En studie av samhällskunskapslärares informationssökning i yrkesrollen

The aim of this thesis is to examine Social science teachers infor-mation seeking in their professional role. The focus in this study has been on what Sources the teachers use for information seeking, examine and analyze their information practices and how they state their reasons for using different in-formation Sources, and finally how these teachers experience con-ditions related to information seeking and how these conditions in-fluence their information seeking. This study is based on four semi structured qualitative interviews. The empirical material from the interviews has been compared to earlier relevant research and analyzed with a theoretical frame-work, which includes conceptions from a sociocultural perspec-tive, a matrix over different kinds of information Sources devel-oped by Höglund och Persson and McKenzie?s model of infor-mation practices. The results of this study are:- These teachers use both formal and informal Sources and external and internal Sources. Digital Sources are important and these have consequently been added to Höglund och Persson?s original matrix from 1985.- Information practices tend to overlap each other, for example ac-tive seeking (more specific and prepared information seeking) and active scanning (less specific), which are the two most common information practices among the teachers.

Datorisering av släktforskarens källor : vad släktforskarföreningar gör och hur de ser på fenomenet

The purpose of this MA thesis is to examine the computerisation of Sources that are of interest to genealogists. The primary focus of the thesis is an empirical study, by using a questionnaire addressed to 118 genealogical societies in Sweden, in order to find out what kind of computerisation is being performed by these genealogical societies and what their opinion is of the computerisation of Sources of interest to genealogists. The result of this questionnaire has shown, together with printed and electronic material, that there is a good deal of interest from genealogical societies in the computerisation of Sources. About half of the genealogical societies who answered the questionnaire are computerising Sources themselves and the societies have a positive view in general of the computerisation that is being done and of the increased usage of modern information technology in genealogy. There are on the other hand certain issues that are being discussed such as the important question of the quality of the computerised material.

"Sanningens ögonblick" : En uppsats om organisationsprinciper och deras betydelse för kundorienteringen hos folkbibliotek

In writing this study, I wanted to examine which principles of organization that are possible for Swedish public libraries to use, and what these principles mean for the libraries customerorientation. This is done by examining a number of written Sources, as well as studying the organization of six public libraries. I found several possible principles, but a number of principles have been more commonly used than others. Historically most public libraries were organized according to the functions needed to be carried out within the organization, but today it is much more common to use subject-based organizations, with some examples of organizing according to user-groups and needs. I have also encountered the possibility of organizing according to the Sources that are to be handled, or the way in which these Sources are used by the customers.

The experiments are grouped according to categories of term Sources, which are: search results, collection dependent knowledge structures, collection independent knowledge structures and one that combines the two last mentioned Sources into one. To enable a comparison all other variables were held as constant as possible. There is the improvement measured in mean average precision, which is used to measure the various Sources potential. The result from the study shows a strong connection between the kind of source for the expansion term and improvement of the result.
