Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to clarify and evaluate the concept of Scenario planning.Methodology: Our research methodology has a qualitative approach and uses deductive reasoning. The theoretical field of strategy formulation has been reviewed and in specific the concept Scenario planning was unravelled and mapped. Thereafter, our model was tested in a case study where the empirical data was collected through personal interviews. Theoretical field: Literature and articles from the strategic management field have been reviewed with a focus on strategy formulation, Scenario planning and Williamson?s theory for the creation of a portfolio for strategic options.Empirical base: Personal interviews and secondary sources such as financial reports, articles mainly from industry media and articles found in the databases ELIN and Affärsdata.Analysis: The analysis work constitutes the testing of our model for Scenario planning, integrated into Williamson?s portfolio of strategic options for the future.Result: The work has resulted in a clarified model of Scenario planning with links to strategic management schools.

Purpose:The purpose of this thesis is: to determine key success factors for an organisation?s internal process of internalising future trends forecasting. Methodology:A qualitative approach has been chosen by examining three different companies (Electrolux, H&M and, Sony Ericsson) through interviews and other data. The empirical material have been analysed by using valid theory as a platform from where the analysis can be performed. This has created a conceptual analysis that enables the use of the conclusions in other similar companies.

Volvo Hauler & Loader Division in Arvika produces wheel loaders which they deliverthroughout the world. The factory which is situated in Arvika is the largest wheel loader plant in the whole world, with its 1 100 employees. The different models stretch from L60E all theway up to the brand new L350F, with a loader capacity from six tons up to a staggering 35.The assembly of the different models are divided into three different assembly lines, Small(L60-L90), Medium (L110-L120) and Large (L150-L220). The assembly of Heavy (L350)has just been started with an upcoming pre series.This examination paper gives recommendations of improvements and necessary modifications to rationalize the pre-assembly of boom units. Three different Scenarios are presented in the paper.

The purpose of the study was to examine if preferred stereotypical leadership and gender could predict women?s employability to leading positions. The survey, which was selfconstructed containing a Scenario module was conducted on co-workers (N=97) in the Vaxjo area. The result showed that the female candidate in the Scenario was preferred as leader prior to the male candidate. However, there were no gender differences between the male and female participants? preferred stereotypical leadership.

The Armed Forces is looking to improve control of where articles are and the monitoring of their condition within its clothing supply. That is why Försvarets Materielverk is working on a motion to tag the Armed Forces clothing with passive RFID-tags. A cost/benefit analysis has been made in this report in order to find out whether the investment is economical justifiable and what costs and benefits arose. The analysis tool that was used is based on the PENG-model. The analysis had three Scenarios with the difference that each Scenario included various amounts of clothing to tag.  There has also been made an analysis where only the benefits regarding decreasing amount of lost clothes and simplified inventory were included.The result of the first analysis was that none of the Scenarios was profitable during the first year.

Tasmania is a state in Australia, and is also the country?s largest island. It is separated from the main land by a 429 kilometer wide strait. Every year, a large amount of people, cars and goods are transported to the island using a government owned ferry line, which generates approximately 300 million Australian dollars to the state?s economy ,every year. This bachelor thesis investigates the possibility of reducing the fuel consumption for the ferry traffic to and from Tasmania, which would also reduce the overall cost.

Holmen Paper is one of Sweden?s leading manufacturer of paper, with two Swedish production facilities located in Norrköping and Hallstavik. The European continent constitutes the company?s largest customer base which makes the company?s distribution system an integral part of the business. Historically, much of the produced paper has been transported by vessels, as vessels allow large volumes of goods and deliveries to markets which are difficult to reach with other modes of transportation.

The aim with this study was to collect fundamental information, and to plan, a windpower farm in Juddhult , Småland in southern Sweden. The goal is to collect the bestavailable projecting planning support. The pieces of this projecting planning supportthat will be presented is; Environmental Consequence Description (MKB), productioncalculations, comparisons between different plant types, economic calculations, evaluatethe economy and give some farm design suggestions. The imagined wind farm will belocated in forest environment and which may cause a number of new problems. Specialinterest that will be affected, where special consideration because of the forestenvironmental is requested is, hunting, wetlands, ancient monuments and windturbulence.

Denna uppsats syfte är att undersöka hur en utvidgning av det europeiska systemet för handel med utsläppsrätter påverkar kostnadsstrukturen hos SSAB. Transportsektorn inom EU och Sverige står för en betydande andel av de totala utsläppen av koldioxid och lämpar sig bra för att bygga ut systemet med. Sverige kan välja att antingen själva inkludera Sveriges transportsektor i handelssystemet eller så inkluderas hela den europeiska transportsektorn i systemet. SSAB är det företag i Sverige som släpper ut mest koldioxid av de företag som ingår i handelssystemet. Hur ett inkluderande av transportsektorn påverkar SSAB:s kostnader bestäms i stor utsträckning av om de existerande skatterna på transportsektorn avskaffas eller ej.

New Zealand is currently the third largest global producer of kiwifruit and thus plays an important role in the international market. Exports of kiwifruit are also of significant horticultural value for New Zealand and in 2007 the kiwifruit industry accounted for export values of NZ$790 million. The global kiwifruit market has experienced substantial changes in recent years and is likely to change significantly in the near future due to developments in production sources, adjustments to trade policy settings and shifts in consumer preferences. The New Zealand kiwifruit industry needs to consider what the impacts of these changes might be so that future strategies can be constructed effectively. Little quantitative modelling has been done in New Zealand to consider the impacts of changes to the global kiwifruit industry. The major contribution of this research was the development and calibration of a kiwifruit industry-specific partial equilibrium trade model. The model was then used to examine the impacts on New Zealand producers of these trade-related changes in the global kiwifruit market.

Examensarbetets syfte är att med trafiksimuleringar utreda det framtida resecentrumets kapacitet i form av hållplatskapacitet och systemkapacitet. Trafiksimulering är ett effektivt verktyg som används allt oftare för att utreda konsekvenserna av olika förändringar i vägnätet och trafiken. Det kan medföra både ekonomiska och tidsmässiga vinster i och med att programmet kan utvärdera olika ombyggnadsförslag innan beslut fattas. Programmet som används i examensarbetet är AIMSUN NG, vilket är ett mikrosimuleringsprogram utvecklat av TSS.För att uppnå syftet skapades först en model över områden som det såg ut innan ombyggnationen påbörjades. Med denna som utgångspunkt skapades sedan en modell över det framtida resecentrumet.

Asset management in insurance companies differs from conventional asset management to the extent that respect has to be taken to both assets and the commitments the insurance company has towards its customers. A model that has proven to fit well regarding the matching of assets and liabilities is the Asset Liability Management Model (ALM model). In addition to the matching in the balance sheet, the ALM model can be used in a company's work with strategic portfolio allocation by applying it as a basis for analyzing investment strategies with expected risk and return. From this, the ALM model also becomes relevant for calculating key figures according to the legal framework Solvens II which includes laws and regulations regarding the demands on economical strength (solvens) of insurance companies.Hence, the goal of this masters thesis has been to, on behalf of Bliwa Livförsäkring, create an ALM model to support the asset management department of Bliwa in their work with defining a credible way of analyzing the future risk and return of Bliwa's asset portfolio and insurance undertakings.The ALM model generally consist of four submodels, the Scenario model, the liability model, the asset model and the company model, where the Scenario model often is named as the core of the ALM model. The course of action has been to develop these submodels individually, with focus on the Scenario model.
