This paper deals with village history around millstone Quarry Eastern Utsjö in Malung, Sweden, in the hope of finding deposits that could date the Quarry, in that the Quarry in the current situation is dated only by the millstone fragments outside the resort. My purpose was to conduct a discussion on the Quarry alone can be dated by deposits outside the resort. I have used FMIS RAÄ:s fornsök and a lot of literature to identify village history. The results showed that it is not possible to date the millstone Quarry from village history, but through deposits outside the resort of Malung, which have been found around Mälardalen, Sweden through archaeological excavations, and derived from the millstone Quarry Eastern Utsjö, can put an age on the Quarry..

Abstract This thesis is based on a case study of the drawn out legal process on the question of establish a limestone Quarry in Bunge Ducker in north Gotland (Sweden). The current fields are located next to areas that are protected by virtue of being EU-certified Natura 2000-areas. Despite this, the Swedish governments and courts have not agreed in witch national interest that should be prevail when decisions are made on this issue. This phenomenon are reflected in the judicial process and different court have evaluate information differently in the case. A change among governmental actors where priority is given to the importance of national interest have occur in the later part in the process.

Dokumentation av en Tävlingsprocess - Jøssingfjords Stenbrottsmuseum Avsikten med detta examensarbete var att utföra en tidsbegränsad tävling och samtidigt dokumentera arbetsprocessen. När tävlingsförslaget var färdigställt analyserades processen och resultatet. En strategi för hur projektet skulle arbetas vidareformulerades sedan.Målet var att hitta en personlig dokumentationsform som skulle ge en bra översikt av arbetet och som förhoppningsvis också skulle kunna användas för att hitta eventuella svagheter eller negativa mönster i den egna arbetsprocessen.Vid slutgenomgången ska projektet beskrivas genom processen tillsammans med de reflektioner jag och mina handledare har haft under projektets gång.Programval:Jag valde att använda programmet från en tävling som var aktuell när examensarbetet började. Tävlingen var ett stenbrottsmuseum i södra Norge. Initiativtagare var Dalarne rådet och programmet .

Examensarbetets mål är att beskriva och beräkna Arvidsjaurs och Arjeplogs kommuners framtida bergmaterialbehov med utgångspunkt från bygg- och anläggningsprojekt som pågår och som planeras. Syftet är att få en sammanställning som visar om materialet räcker till eller om det finns behov att öppna nya täkter. Sammanställningen kan med fördel användas av kommunerna som planeringsunderlag beträffande nya vägbyggnadsprojekt. Alla tillståndsgivna täkter i Arvidsjaurs och Arjeplogs kommuner har kartlagts och täkternas kapacitet har också tagits fram. Även alla pågående och planerade vägarbeten kommunvis och årsvis från år 2005 fram till 2009 har karterats.

My essay aims to explore, "What image is conveyed by the stone mason's life and work on Korpåsberget". In my essay I have been working with respondent interviews to examine the purpose. I've been trying to get interviewees to talk freely, but have also had a number of indicative questions for support. In order to process and understand the interviews, I also have a part in the essay aiming to provide background information to the stone industry in Bohuslän, an area along the westcoast in Sweden, and foremost in the area of Bovallstrand.The text discusses the stone industry's development in the area, its development and the time until the stone industry at large was closed. As for the stone industry in Bovallstrand I have chosen to focus on the largest Quarry in society, namely the Korpåsberget. The background text also briefly covers stonecutter?s lives and work.

This essay will examine the historical picture of the island Rapa Nui as it is portrayed in popular science and in ecohistorical literature of the university of Gothenburg. This historical picture states that the inhabitants of the island cut down a lot of trees in the process of transporting the big and heavy statues, moai, from the Quarry to the platforms along the coastline of the island. During this process all trees disappeared and resulted in soil erosion. The cultivation was destroyed and brought hunger to Rapa Nui. The following rivalry for food led to a situation of war followed by a cultural collapse.

The purpose of the essay Multi criteria analysis of potential conflicts concerning land use planning - natural stone mining in Lysekil municipal is to study possibilities and limitations in GIS based multi criteria analysis as a tool for land use planning. How GIS based multi criteria analysis can be implemented to localize potential conflict areas between natural stone mining and other land use activities and what advantages and disadvantages the method holds are the main issues of this study. The essay studies these questions through a case study, concerning the geographical area of Lysekil municipal in western Sweden and problematizes the interest of natural stone mining in relation to other land use interests. A literature study was carried through, concerning multi criteria analysis and planning. After collecting and processing of data the multi criteria analysis could be implemented in the ArcGIS tool Weighted Sum.

I detta arbete presenteras ett gestaltningsförslag för ett upplevelselandskap vid Västra brottet i Slite, ett 89 hektar stort och 45 meter djupt stenbrott på norra Gotland där det bryts kalksten för cementproduktion. Kalkindustrin beskrivs i Region Gotlands översiktsplan som en av öns basnäringar. Dock kommer denna ofta i konflikt med olika naturskyddsintressen och det finns områden som är utpekade både som riksintresse för naturvård och för värdefulla ämnen och mineraler. I Västra brottets närhet finns naturmiljöer där många rödlistade arter har inventerats. Kalkstensbrottet och dess miljöer med tidiga successionsstadier har potential att i framtiden bli en fristad för hotade arter som tidigare har gynnats av hävd och brukade marker. År 2021 beräknas brottet ha nått sin brytningsgräns och den befintliga efterbehandlingsplanen, med fokus på att införa naturhabitat från närliggande områden, slutförs. Detta arbete har sin utgångspunkt i denna komplexa och dynamiska miljö. En miljö där naturen möter det industriella kulturlandskapet.
