The aim of the study was to reach a deeper understanding and knowledge about how women with an experience of Prostitution perceive what this has meant for them and how it has influenced their lives. The questions of the study were: (1) How has the Prostitution experience affected the women in their lives? (2) How have they learnt to deal with this experience? To answer these questions a qualitative method was used where interviews were conducted with four women with experience of Prostitution. All women experienced that the Prostitution had affected their lives. Examples given that inter alia relationships, sexuality, and self-image had been affected.

The purpose of this study was to explore the state of female Prostitution in the city of Tehran, and besides, analyze the elements that can lead women to harlotry in Iran. This research is based on three sources of information: firstly, interviews with three harlots in Tehran and I got help of a semi-structured interview guide. Secondly, I discussed Prostitution with conscious resources that worked within the public services in Tehran and had experienced of working with female prostitutes. Thirdly I analyzed texts and reports about Prostitution in Iran. The data from interviews are tied to two theories: symbolic interactionism and feminism.

Since 1999 Sweden have a law that criminalises the person who buys sexual services instead of criminalising the one who is selling, which in most cases is a woman. Seven years has passed since this law took place and in this study we aim to investigate what kind of help the society offer women in Malmö, Sweden, who wishes to step out of Prostitution. Our aim with this study is also to look at the attitudes among citizens towards the new law and Prostitution. The research is qualitative and all the six persons we interviewed has knowledge about the problems the women are facing when they want to step out of Prostitution. To explane and analyse the answers we are using the theory of empowerment, labelling theory, the theory of gender socialisation and Jürgen Habermas theory of the lifeworld.The most significant outcome of this study shows a positive result in regard of the laws effectiveness in diminishing street-Prostitution to half of what i t was before the law was put into practice.

In Sweden, Prostitution is politically defined as a social problem, more precisely, as a form of male violence against women. The definition is distinctly manifested in the government bill Kvinnofrid, characterised by the unique Swedish law that prohibits the purchase of sexual services.This thesis examines how the Swedish solutions of Prostitution are carried out. By interviewing central actors working with Prostitution in different ways we aim to answer the question: What measures are taken to decrease Prostitution and what implications does the Swedish solution have?The analysis is divided into two parts. First, we analyse the concrete measures taken against Prostitution ? what is done, how, and why? Second, we analyse the complexity of Prostitution measures by applying complementary analytical perspectives: the symbolic and the discourse perspective.The study shows that measures taken to decrease Prostitution vary and depend on individual actors? understandings of the political definition.

Synen på och lagstiftningen kring sexköp har länge skapat diskussioner om fenomenet, både i relation till säljarna och till köparna. Den svenska sexköpslagen har även skapat diskussion internationellt där den har blivit både hyllad och avvisad utifrån olika perspektiv och synsätt.  Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur Prostitution konstrueras och tolkas utifrån olika perspektiv och hur det återspeglas i det praktiska arbetet gentemot brukarna. Detta genomförs med en jämförelse av två brukarorganisationer med olika perspektiv på Prostitution, Rose Alliance och Prostituerades Revansch i Samhället (PRIS). Studien utförs med hjälp av diskursanalys utifrån socialkonstruktivismen och ett genusperspektiv som teoretisk ansats. Fenomenet tolkas nämligen olika och får olika betydelser beroende på hur det konstrueras av samhället och hur det tolkas av samhällets genusordning.

Prostitution is a large and multifaceted subject. In this study, the purpose is to gain an insight into how the police officers work and act when they get in contact with young prostitutes. The study contains answers and opinions from five police officers which were conducted through semi-structured interviews in this qualitative study. The results were analysed based on a social constructive perspective and Goffman?s stigma theory.

This study is a critical discourse analysis of Swedish newspaper articles about Prostitution. The purpose of the study is to investigate which discourse/discourses about Prostitution that is/are adressed in the articles and identify the power relations and meanings that are constructed by the different subject posititions in the articles. Apart from critical discourse analysis social constructionism and a discussion about gender are applied in the analysis. The results supports findings in earlier research about Prostitutionin Sweden; that the debate is focused around Prostitution as sexual domination or Prostitution regarded as a voluntary choice which rises demands of human rights for sexworkers. No prostitutes or buyers of sex where given the opportunity to comment on the matter, only journalists, politicians, social workers and policemen.

Trafficking in human beings and Prostitution is an increasing occurrence within the EU. However, vast differences in legal frameworks regarding Prostitution can be detected among member states.The Netherlands is an example where Prostitution is regarded a legal activity. In other member states legal standings toward Prostitution remain ambivalent, where Sweden here serves an example. Finally, Lithuania is among member states where Prostitution is considered illegal.The purpose of this paper is therefore to study underlying attitudes and approaches that these three countries have in this rather delicate political question. By interpreting the content and quoting parts of propositions, an ideology analysis is constructed.The theory chapter consists of Rousseau?s theories, Objectivism, Radical Feminist Theory, and Sex-positive Feminist Theory.

Syftet med mitt arbete har varit att fördjupa förståelsen av hur en del av den dolda Prostitutionen kan gestalta sig, samt att ?ge röst? åt en grupp kvinnor som prostituerar sig och därmed också problematisera bilden av ?den prostituerade kvinnan? samt den heterosexuella normen. Jag har använt mig av en kvalitativ metod baserad på intervjuer med sex kvinnor som alla är verksamma inom Prostitution på en och samma klinik i Köpenhamn. I analysen av kvinnornas berättelser använder jag mig av en jämförelse mellan två perspektiv på Prostitution, dels ett inifrånperspektiv vilket representeras av kvinnorna själva, dels av ett utifrånperspektiv representerat av framförallt tidigare svensk forskning kring Prostitution. I min undersökning och mina tolkningar av kvinnornas berättelser kommer jag fram till att kvinnornas medverkan på Prostitutionsarenan kan förstås som ett uttryck för motstånd.
