The purpose of this study is to seek answers to an ongoing problem in the forest sector; why scarifying Operators quit their job. Scarification quality is crucial for successful reforestation after clear felling. It is therefore important to keep good Operators working in the business. To collect the desirable information interviews were made both with contractors who are working and Operators who have stopped working with scarifying. The conclusion one can draw from this report is that the scarifying operator job needs improvement in multiple areas. The former Operators are mostly dissatisfied with the stress, low wages and negative physical effects that this work brings..

Resignations are common in all business sectors and can also be found among forest machine Operators in the forest business. As the industry today faces a lack of forest machine Operators it is justified to determine why machine Operators choose to quit their jobs. The aim of this study was to a) find out the number of machine Operators that have resigned b) identify and analyse the cause for these resignations c) identify the reasons why the machine Operators started to work in the forest and d) give suggestions on different measures that will limit resignations amongst forest machine Operators. A questionnaire was sent to machine Operators who have quit working as employees, contractors or as employees for contractors with Holmen Skog during 2003-2007. 32 machine Operators responded to the questionnaire. Interviews were made with 10 machine Operators who had answered the questionnaire to gather more qualitative data. The results of the study indicate that fewer forest machine Operators change profession than employees in other occupations in Sweden.

This study has been performed with the help of forest machine Operators in order to improve the forestry planning at Holmen Skog Örnsköldsvik-region. For Holmen Skog forestry planning is basic for a successful forestry. In a survey I have investigated what can be improved in some areas that are planned for harvesting. The result of the investigation will be used to support the machine Operators as much as possible. The study has generated 49.5 % of responses and because of this low response rate, no clear conclusions to anyone else except the responding machine Operators can be drawn. It has been proved that there are some details in the forestry planning system that are inadequate, such as marked routs for trails, tractor paths and buffer zones against streams. The quality of forestry planning varies greatly between different locations, as much as 50 % of the responding machine Operators thought so. Over 40 % of the responding machine Operators claim that the information from Holmen is insufficient. One thing that would improve the forestry planning within Holmen would be to educate all forestry planners and then do continuous follow-ups..

Because of the increasing numbers of international tourist arrivals each year it is essential that tourist Operators are aware of the impacts that tourism generate. Tourism affects the world in an environmental, social and economic way, positive but also in a negative way. To travel responsible and sustainable is therefore important, and Operators have a responsibility in this subject.Because of this I wanted to look at how Swedish tourist Operators manage responsible tourism, together with what amount of information their customers receive about this. To be able to study how Operators work with this I conducted three interviews via email. The tourist Operators were of different sizes and specializations to receive a more extensive result.

The purpose of this dissertation is to describe and analyse the effects of tourism in developing countries and the attitudes and working methods of Swedish tour Operators towards sustainable tourism. We have chosen to use a qualitative research according to a hermeneutical view. We have carried through in-depth interviews with eight tour Operators. The theories have been divided into the effects of tourism and sustainable tourism goals which have social, economic and environmental starting points. The empiricism describes the work and activities of the tour Operators and compiles the interview material divided into attitudes on tourism effects and responsibilities.

Reporting harvested and forwarded volumes are important for the forest industry as it provides information of the size of the stock and facilitates logistics. Figures from Holmen Skog show low reporting frequency. The purpose of this study is to investigate the reason and find suggestions for improvement. A total of 17 machine Operators were interviewed using a questionnaire combined with open questions. The results show that the majority of the machine Operators find it simple to use the reporting system, although, some of them reports that it doesn?t always work as supposed to.

The purpose of the work is to analyze and balance an assembly line at Fläkt Woods in Jönköping. The work is going to answer the questions about today?s throughput time, how much waste that occurs, number of staff at the assembly line, how the supply of material works and possible improvements that can be made at the work stations. The work is also going to give a proposal of improve-ments that can be made.The methods used to get the result include observations and measurements, con-versations with technicians and Operators and also data from Fläkt Woods? data-base.Large variations in throughput time are measured during the measure period, from 3 hours up to 5 hours and 35 minutes.

The scarcity of qualified forest machine Operators as well as the increased competition for competent machine Operators among others from the mining industry in Norrland, were the reasons to investigate what attracts and what deters active and potential forest machine Operators to the occupation. An interview study was conducted among four groups with four persons in each group. The groups were students in year 1 and 3 respectively at a forestry school at upper secondary school level as well as employees of a forest company and employees of contractors. The majority of all respondents were of the opinion that their interests in machines had been important for the choice of occupation. But for the active machine Operators both the interest in the forest and their interest for machines have had importance for choosing this occupation.

These deposits get stuck on process equipment and cause the product quality to deteriorate and the efficiency of the paper machine is reduced. The purpose of this thesis is to increase the understanding about deposits among machine Operators, and to suggest methods that can be used to reduce the amount of deposits formed in Bravikens paper machines.To fulfill the purpose of the thesis a pre-study, a literature review and interviews with machine Operators and production staff, were carried out. These methods led to the planning and creation of an education about deposits for machine Operators.The education about deposits for machine Operators consisted of an interactive lecture to introduce the subject of deposits and a subsequent discussion. This approach was chosen to give the machine Operators the opportunity to discuss their work situation on the paper machines related to their new knowledge about deposits.

The aim of this study was to investigate and describe conceptions that been used when people talks about grapples and to put together parameters that the customers sees as important when they chose a grapple from Hultdins. Every year Hultdins manufacturer and sells about 3500 grapples around the world. With so many users its difficult to oblige everyone. To get an apprehension of what kind of grapple the Operators wanted a formula with 18 questions was made. For the interviews 20 forestmachineOperators were choicest who had experience from Hultdins grapples, a lot of them also had experience from other grappleproducers and constructions. The study showed that it is the durability the users give priority to.

A Road project?s frame is built up of a decision- and consultation process, where the results of the preparatory studies are being discussed. The aim with a consultation process is that all theopinions and knowledge from the Operators' will be taken into count in the basis of information, that is needed in order to the different involved Operators' to take a decision.The aim of the essay was to investigate how the decision- and consultation process for a road project, the E4 section between Uppsala Läby, turned out. The aim is also to bring up how theprocess could have been done more correctly. The study was carried out through a qualitative method with an analysis of materials from the National Road Administration's archives, the associated Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and through interviews of the different Operators.My theoretical basis has been a Stakeholder Analysis and its principles, and theory about different executions of social planning.The result showed that the decision- and consultation process has been bursting in democracy and consideration taking of the different Operators' opinions, has been poor from the developer?s, in this case the National Road Administration's, side.
