Nominalfrasers inverkan på återvinningseffektiviteten i ett probabilistiskt IR-system

The purpose of this study is to examine the difference between three query strategies with respect to retrieval effectiveness. The thesis aims at examining how two types of Noun phrases containing a modifier to the head word, which is a Noun affect the retrieval performance with regard to recall and precision. The Noun phrases in the thesis are of two types: 1) Noun phrases containing a modifier to the head word (which is a Noun) and which are not dictionary phrases (NF) and 2) dictionary phrases. Both types of Noun phrases in this thesis contain at least two words. The queries were executed in Query Performance Analyser, QPA, containing the InQuery system and a sub collection of TREC-Uta documents with its topics.

Ordföljdsvariationen mellan VSO och VOS i ett urval oceaniska språk

I denna uppsats behandlas ordföljdsvariationen mellan VSO och VOS i enkla satser i de oceaniska språken samoanska, tonganska och niueanska. En av dessa ordföljder är härledd (deriverad) ur den andra. Denna variation påminner om de syntaktiska fenomenen object shift(objektsflytt) och Noun incorporation(nomen-inkorporering). Vid OS har objektet flyttat ur VP, vilket också har hänt i VSO-ordföljden, om denna är deriverad. Vid NI har objektet morfologiskt sammanfogats med verbet, men i vissa språk har objektet endast flyttat till positionen direkt efter verbet, utan att sammanlänkas med detta, vilket också har hänt i VOS-ordföljden, om denna är deriverad.Denna studie är baserad på litteratur som behandlar språk i vilka fenomenen OS eller NI tydligt förekommer, och på litteratur som behandlar oceaniska språk som uppvisar liknande syntaktiska drag.

Ordfrekvens och repetition i läromedlet Lieber Deutsch : En analys av den språkdidaktiska förankringen i ett svenskt läromedel i tyska

The aim of this study is to examine the word acquisition, focusing on the Nouns and word exercises, in two Swedish textbooks for German in the upper secondary school. The chosen method for investigating the Nouns was corpus analysis. The Noun frequency and distribution in the textbooks were analysed and discussed in relation to research in second language acquisition. The Involvement Load Hypothesis by Batia Laufer and Jan Hulstijn was used to examine the exercises in the textbooks. The study showed that most Nouns only occurred once in the textbooks, but the most frequent Nouns were well spread in the textbooks.

Konfrontationsbenämning av substantiv och verb hos svensktalande vuxna utan anomi

Confrontation naming is commonly used in speech and language pathology to diagnose neurogenic communication disorders and evaluate naming ability. The existing Swedish assessment instruments for adults consist of pictures depicting Nouns. In this study, parts of the instrument An Object and Action Naming Battery were used, containing pictures depicting both Nouns and verbs. The study?s purpose was to explore the degree of difficulty in the material, based on the naming of the participants, and examine whether different variables correlate with the results in confrontation naming.

This thesis examines the concept of righteousness in the Gospel of Matthew. The research explores the literal meanings and theological functions of the Noun ?righteousness? and the adjective ?righteous? through a descriptiveand comparative study of all the pericopes which include these words. The research also includes relevant information about the historical context of the text as well as the central theological themes which relate to the subject.In the research on the literal meanings, it seems that both words primarily occur in ethical teaching and that the concept of righteousness in Matthew is closely related to humanconduct (e.g. Matt 5:20; 6:1).

Läroboksspråk : En studie av språket i två historieböcker avsedda för grund- respektive gymnasieskolan

This essay investigates and compares the readability in two different schoolbooks: Eko Historia (the primary school grade 4-6) and Epos Historia (the upper secondary school). The questions of the survey are:- Which differences in linguistic and layout can be found between books meant for the primary school and books meant for the upper secondary school?- Are the texts easy to read according to the former research in readability?In order to answer the questions structural dimensions as lexicon, syntax, bounds between sentences and narrative voices have been studied. Also the texts disposition and typography have been examined.The results demonstrate that the book designed for the primary school has a verbal structure with an explicit vocabulary, lots of verbs and short sentences. A clear narrative voice gives an impression of spoken language.
