County Branding : En studie i kommuners marknadsföring mot företag

There is a mutual dependency between the business world and the country?s Municipalities. The Municipalities are dependent on the companies to create work and tax income while the companies are dependent on the Municipalities they are located in to provide good infrastructure among other things.Apart from this the Municipalities can work activly with creating a strong brand in the eyes of the companies and many researchers in marketing agree that marketing of places will be more common in the future. Marketing of Municipalities is however still a rather new and unexplored area and it is uncertain how and to what extent the Municipalities work with this.The thesis is formulated:How are the Municipalities working to market towards companies and is it possible to make out any positive change from these marketing efforts?The goal of this study is:Our goal is to examine how the view of marketing of places differs from different Municipalities in the Stockholm region, how some of these Municipalities work with this and how far they have come in this work.

Konkurrens eller samarbete mellan kommuner - hur ser relationen ut inom turismnäringen? : Med perspektiv på större kommuner i Norrland

This paper is the result of a study of competition and cooperation in regard to tourism between the five largest Municipalities in Norrland in northern Sweden. The Municipalities are Luleå, Skellefteå, Umeå, Sundsvall and Gävle. The aim was to study the relation between competition and cooperation between these Municipalities. An important theoretical aspect in this study is coopetition, where competition and cooperation occur at the same time. The studies on coopetition in the Nordic kontext is limited and the main literature on coopetition study the relationship between firms. This study however takes a geographical standpoint and aims to fill the gap in the literature on how competition and cooperation are connected to each other between chosen Municipalities. To do this the tourism strategies of the Municipalities were studied thoroughly. These written strategies provided information about how the Municipalities view their competitive advantages and disadvantages and some general information about how they cooperate with the nearest regions. To find out how the Municipalities think about competition and cooperation with the other four specific Municipalities interviews were made with experts on the tourism field in each municipality. The results show that the Municipalities do not have established strategies for how they are to be competitive compared with other specific Municipalities. They do not see it as profitable to compete, instead they should complement each other. At the same time however, most of the Municipalities mostly cooperate with Municipalities in a short distance from them, and due to lack of resources only briefly or not at all with the Municipalities studied here..

Balanced Scorecard i svenska kommuner

Purpose: The purpose with our study is to accomplish a quantitative research of all Municipalities in Sweden and see why they apply Balanced Scorecard. The study will also investigate the spread of Balanced Scorecard, even the benefits and how they use it. Method: In our study we have chosen a quantitative research. The study has been accomplished with a questionnaire survey which we sent to all of the Swedish Municipalities. We have also done a literature study to get more knowledge about relevant theories.

Finally we have compiled the questionnaire in Netigate and Excel, and analysed the result from the questionnaire. Results: Balanced Scorecard is well-known in the Swedish Municipalities and 36 percent of the Municipalities use this scorecard in whole or in parts of the organisation.

Laglig rätt men på olika sätt

I have investigated how Municipalities support children with ADHD. I have interviewed persons responsible in five different Municipalities. The persons have had the authority to decide how the support funds are to be shared in the municipality. Mostly I was interested to know if the support was the same in all these Municipalities and if the children with ADHD really got the help and support they were entitled to. I discovered that the support varied; in some the children were correctly diagnosed but in others Municipalities I was not convince.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how the two Swedish Municipalities, Sigtuna and Nyköping, work with marketing. The study has primarily focused on how these two Municipalities worked, consciously or non-consciously, with lifestyle marketing and place marketing. The research-questions that this essay wants to answer are;What is lifestyle marketing and place marketing?Do Municipalities use these types of marketing, and who is this marketing directed to?How and why does Municipalities use lifestyle marketing and place marketing?To answer these questions, phone interviews were conducted with several important employees within the two Municipalities. The results of this study show that the different Municipalities have both been using lifestyle marketing, but on different levels, in Sigtuna, it was a strategic choice, whereas in Nyköping, it evolved by itself and was not a conscious choice.

Ska ekonomin få styra miljön? : En studie om public-private partnerships

This thesis aims at investigating the two municipality?s Gislaved and Ljungby. Where the aim is to see if there is any connections, between the type and the degree of public-private partnerships, and the Municipalities obtained environment performance. In this essay the starting point is that the environmental performance in the chosen Municipalities is good.Interviews among local politicians and representatives for the Municipalities plastic industries, has functioned as a way to test the hypothesis. Gislaved and Ljungby have thereafter been compared, in order to see if there is any similarity in the sort and the degree of public-private partnerships, and how that will affect the environmental performance. The overall questions in this essay are:How can the cooperation among the chosen Municipalities and the      local business life be described? What kind of Public-private partnership      exists in the selected Municipalities?Is there any difference between the Municipalities, referring to      the degree of cooperation between the Municipalities and the local      business life? Does the degree of cooperation affect the progress on the environmental      performance? The end result shows that the local business life doesn?t have any impact on the environmental performance.

The purpose of this thesis was to create a deeper comprehension for the role of place marketing within Swedish Municipalities and how it is applied to attract visitors and residents. A case study was performed to obtain this purpose. Interviews with three northern Municipalities were conducted in order to retrieve essential information. This was compared to previous studies of place marketing in order to find similarities and differences. The results of this study showed that Municipalities emphasise on creating an attractive image, directed to the residents as well as to people outside.

This Masters thesis is performed at the request of the National Board of Forestry in order to investigate how the Swedish Municipalities use their forests. The study is of general character with emphasis on the social values of the forests. The Municipalities? purposes with their forests have varied over time, but lately the social aspects have been recognised as interesting. The social values of the forests can be defined as the values from the forests that contribute to the wealth of humans. This has socio-economic importance for the Municipalities. The study was performed as a quantitative questionnaire survey, complemented with qualitative interviews.

Background: In 1998 it was stated that Swedish Municipalities would report the pension liabilities according to the mixed model where the pension liabilities before 1998 was moved from the balance sheet. The mixed model has been criticized by economists for not showing the total pension liabilities. To remove some of the liabilities in the Municipalities balance sheets means that the solvency improves. Some Municipalities have decided to go against the municipal accounting law and recognize all of the pension liability as a liability according to the full funding model. When two accounting models are being used the comparison of the Municipalities' financial statements is much harder.Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to study the reason why some Municipalities apply full funding model rather than the mixed model.

The method to establish the infrastructure in Sweden is the geodatastrategin. The effort to implement the geodatastrategin has resulted in an interaction model, Geodatasamverkan. The purpose of this study is to alert Municipalities and to investigate the usefulness of their participation in Geodatasamverkan. The study also presents examples of different applications where geodata can be used within a municipality. The report is based on literature reviews, surveys and interviews. Online Surveys were sent to some of Sweden's Municipalities to get an overall idea of ??how they make use of geodata and their general attitude towards Geodatasamverkan.
